"James Cameron can't be bargained with, he can't be reasoned with, he doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and he absolutely will not stop, ever, until all his films have horrible AI remasters with distorted facial features and wispy, grain-free motion blur."
The colour grading in this video looks like the one used in the 2013 remastered blu-ray. I saw the 4K last week and it was not like this. Taking the increased resolution out of the equation, are these videos in the demonstartion labelled correctly?
Yes - both discs ripped, files overlaid over each other and Blu-ray (left) cropped by 50% width from the right to reveal the 4K picture below on the right.
I did include some within the video, however I found quite often the difference was more noticable on moving video - plus it can be paused if the viewer wants to compare still frames
I’m no expert but I think the 4K transfer looks great when you consider when this was released. It still has the filmic quality but looks crisper. I’d look forward to rewatching this in 4K. It’s still *just* better than T2, I think. Both fantastic movies though.
I'm still undecided on this release - On first glance it certainly seems a step up, however appears that they have taken notice of previous criticism from The Abyss, True Lies and Aliens and still done the same but tried to hide it somewhat.
Long time no see , great video as always. This looks an impressive transfer. The scene at the end with the mountains looks stunning in 4k 👌. Will be picking this up when on sale for sure 👍
Thanks Matt - you must have missed the other videos I've put up this month. I am still rather undecided on this disc - hence why I put up a comparison rather than a review, as I can't make my mind up on it yet.
Yes, some do look a lot different, whilst others are very similar - it certainly looks the part, however I am still undecided as to whether this is a true representation of the original negative or an AI job as with the previous Cameron releases.
These are direct rips from each of the discs concerned. The 4K will look a little different colour wise over a TV as RUclips cannot do HDR or Dolby Vision, but the resolution and picture quality remains untouched
The Colour-Grading from the Remastered-Bluray and the New 4k, looks idently and its terrible! It all looks so green and not clearly!😡 The old Bluray from 2006 looks better! This Bluray- Master does not Give in Germany?!? Greetings from Shithole-Germany😂

Only terminator dark fart
mostly true but with Terminator he hit out of the park. amazing job!
There is no grain for he shall wipe it
Thank you Retro Reels for another great video. You work & enthusiasm is appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment - much appreciated!
One of the best films ever made. Also the best Terminator film.
This was such an impressive release! One of my favs this year
I’m still undecided on it
Should have compared this with the 2013 blu-ray.
Is there that much of a difference between that and the original release as in this video?
@RetroReels It's a much, much better release, yes.
I think the 2013 blu is tealed up considerably with the color timing. In addition to the 5.1 mix being the only unfortunate option as well.
@@RetroReels big time difference
I will *stick to my betamax*
Merry Christmas 2024 everyone:)

I think it would have been easier to appreciate the differences with side-by-side single frames of the exact same moments

I pre orded it ,really liked the upgrade, only ever owned it on dvd as T2 is my favourite from the franchise but thought i should upgrade
What devices play the 4k disc? I have a PS3
As far as I am aware only the PS5 and Xbox S upwards play 4K Discs other than standalone players.
@RetroReels 🙏 thank you so much
The 4K actually looks pretty good imo when watching it on my TV.
The Tealminator
The 4K doesn't even have a good HDR, no highlights, everything looks so flat and dull...
I'm still undecided on this release - On first glance it certainly seems a step up, however appears that they have taken notice of previous criticism from The Abyss, True Lies and Aliens and still done the same but tried to hide it somewhat.

I have just watched Terminator on 4K and it was the best transfer ever really makes the movie much better 👍
Definitely not the best transfer ever...

@RetroReels ah ok I will go have a look on your channel. Some of those scenes didn't look much different but the mountains did

@RetroReels As long as it not heavy on DNR, from what I've heard from folk most are happy with the transfer
@@MattVs_Movieswith all respect, from this clip and from all major bluray forums it is clearly messed up with DNR.
Frankly the Bluray looks better. The UHD is too dark with too much waxy smoothing that looks… artificial.
