    • @gamersanditparadise
      @gamersanditparadise  Год назад +8

      It is good, but be mindful of checking the temperatures on your unit upon receiving it, as Asus quality control on liquid metal is a hit or miss. But if you get a good one, then you can expect it to last long enough, provided the hardware doesn't become outdated lol. Maybe 4-5 years at the most before the hardware becomes obsolete.

    I have this laptop as well as the same specs. This laptop has poorly applied Liquid Metal on the CPU and maybe GPU. If you have this or plan to purchase this one, take the time to reapply the Liquid Metal correctly otherwise, you will be at desktop idling at a hell 95°C. Thermal throttling a ton. 😊. boot timing isnt anything new with SSD just after the bios decides to boot through the SSD but before that it does the checks for the keyboard lighting and various other and the added check for lighting on keyboard consumes more time. So In my opinion the check should be done after the bios decides to boot through SSD not before it, if it could possible.

    • @gamersanditparadise
      @gamersanditparadise  Год назад

      I actually did think about this, but I have had a dozen ROG laptops with RGB lighting, and none of them were as slow as this Scar 17 Special Edition. You can take a look at how other ROG laptops fare in this regard, you'll get to know that this is indeed a real problem. That is why I decided to start the timer right after hitting the power button. Sure, there is definitely an additional check needed for the RGB, but taking this long is not good IMO.

    what is the difference between the 15 and 17 beside the size cause there us a huge difference in yhe price?

    • @gamersanditparadise
      @gamersanditparadise  Год назад +3

      The 17 comes with the HX series CPU which adds 2 more cores over the normal CPU on the 15 inch, which adds around 20-25% more performance. And a slightly higher power limit on the GPU, resulting in around 5 percent more performance in gaming.
      Overall I'd say unless you are into video editing, the 17 isn't worth it. You lose portability too.

A thin 15 inch 140w nvidia 4080 gpu with 35w amd cpu can beat this.

      If you can wait until March/April, then I would advise waiting a little for the RTX 40 series laptops. Leaks say the top end laptop GPU of next year will be even faster than the 3090 desktop card, which is a big deal, so given the cost of this laptop, you should spend that money on next gen 4080 and Ryzen 7900HX/i9 13900HX and you'll be way happier that way. But if you can't wait, this is still pretty good, and probably the best you can get this year.
