Which string did you guys buy? I tried 2 different ones I had lying around and neither would be cut by my Kobalt essentially not being able to automatically get more line when I tap it on the ground

I am not 26, but used common sense to call the GreenWorks support telephone number and learned that the GreenWorks and Kobalt devices are identical. Then I went to a Lowe's and had an old fellow do it one time and I understood it.... an NO direction sheet. I had used a GreenWorks trimmer 5 years and finally found that it takes a 2-line spool for the string.... not a 1 string spool.

Hi again RJ... I recently bought a 200 foot package of Husqvarna Titanium Force .080" trimmer line (for $2. more than the price of one measly 16 foot replacement spool), and reloaded my Kobalt string trimmer using your instructions (the Husqvarna line mentioned is supposedly among the highest quality trimmer lines).
Thanks to you (and your very helpful video) it was incredibly fast and easy to do (it took me around four minutes total). Talk about saving a ton of money versus buying the pre-loaded 16 foot replacement spools! That's a savings of $159. versus buying individual replacement spools!... Future Legend was nice enough to tell me that it would take me 25 yrs to download a manual to figure out how to string a line.
So thank you for saving my hiney.
Future Legend also told me that in 25 yrs this trimmer will be absolete because we'll have Smart Grass, he called it. STG (Smart Trim Grass) is for edges so it'll always be contained within the boundaries of your lawn. Rest assured SWG (Smart Weedless Grass) will be what most of the lawn is, will never have weeds due to self care. And best of all SMT and SWG will trim itself!!

I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be.Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.

I was having one hell of a time trying to push in the two buttons and remove the cover at the same time. I thought you needed Superman strength but I've since found an easy way. Just insert the tip of a flathead screwdriver into the button, the side closest to the bump feed and pry til it pops. Don't force it or you could crack the plastic. You want just enough force to unlock the cover. Then repeat for the other side.

    • @rjguess

I use .080. You can use thinner string as well. I’ve used .060 as well. I normally cut the string anywhere from 8-15 feet. Depending on the thickness.

I have a 40 volt Max that is a year old and this still applies to my trimmer. The spool is a little different but the idea is the same for winding the string. The manual tells you to feed the string through and then turn the spool clockwise but it doesn't grab the string and feed it onto the spool like it is supposed to. Thanks for the video.
