Thanks for the explanation. My grandson's 4th grade teacher only taught A= LxW and several answers were marked wrong against the answer key because the extra step of finding the difference between the unequal sides was not done. That being said it is very confusing. But if you're building a house it's important to know the precise area, lol 😉
