Hi, I have a Question, Say I have a ball of yarn, and I wraped it around and square, the length of the yarn going around the square IS the perimeter right (for instance 8cm)? so to find out the area I just devide the yarn by 4 .. so that's 2cm, and to find the area is 2cm*2cm is 4cm right?
now if I try that logic same "yarn" logic on a rectangle, lets say the rectangle sides are 2 3 2 3, if I wrapped the piece of yarn around it, that would give me the perimeter of 10cm (length of the Yarn) right? if I devide that by 4 it gives me 2.5cm, so using the same logic above, I multiply 2.5 by 2.5 , I get 6.25.. but if we calculate area using the original sides ( 2 & 3) I get 6cm.. why doesn't it produce the same result?? I am I doing something wrong with the calculation?
the reason I am asking this is, I wan to use that "yarn" logic to calculate the area of an irregular shape 2D object (say.. a piece of land, etc)
