- Scammers have become more sophisticated at stealing your hard-earned cash and they’re taking advantage of the red-hot real estate market in Tampa Bay. The Better Business Bureau says rental scams are among the most reported scams to the BBB.

I got my apartment on CL here in Los Angeles. I’ve been living here for a year and a half now.
So not all is bad.
@@krenee8640 I have seven renters and I find all of my renters on CL and most of them are not scammers although some of them can't or don't want to give me any money. Some of them are scammers.
You could say that about any advertising sites or any website too.

Especially when they are asking for Zelle payments.

It breaks my heart that her and her family have to go through that.
I don’t how people still fall for this type of scam, when these dates with the technology and the availability of the internet, you can look up to see who is the owner of the property.
Desperation and probably her being of older age..

Lady was lucky the scammer was an idiot. They usually don't get caught.

Yep, this is how some people end up homeless and penniless. Happened to me in Oceanside CA after I first lost my job. I only had a tiny window to find another home for my family while I desperately sought another job. Neither happened. I lost everything and my family split up. That was in 2011. I'm still homeless and now disabled with cancer stuck in San Diego county with just a memory of what a human used to feel like living in a home. Very disappointing and frustrating how this economy has been destroyed and foreigners flooding in from everywhere snapping up any available housing out of my reach.
