I'm in Straight tears as if I haven't heard this so many times before being brought back here on the day he passed away. God rest this man's soul. We love you Vin. Rest in Peace
They really need to honor vin skully more like this, he’s the best announcer in baseball history coming from a giants fan. 60+ years of announcing, living legend.
A great speech, now could easily be called a great eulogy.... .You will always be in our hearts and minds Vin, for it will always be you saying to us "It's Time for Dodger Baseball!!!! " We love you Vin! Thank You for 67 incredible years and a life so well lived. Vin Scully b. November 29, 1927 - d. August 2, 2022 #respect #Greatest #ITFDB 🤟💙 ⚾ 🕯
Everyone deserves a grandparent, neighbor, teacher, coach, etc. in their life just like Vin Scully at least once. I did, a grandfather, and it contributed greatly to the man I am today.
The TV would be turned off. The radio turned on, my mom would pop popcorn (couldn’t buy it then already popped). Listen to Vince Scully and Jerry Doggett call the game. If we went to the game we took transistor radio so we could still hear them. As a kid never dreaming it would ever end. Rest easy V & J
Vin may not be physically around anymore nor in his broadcast seat anymore but his name lives forever at Dodger Stadium and in all of baseball, words from an extreme Dodgers hater.
I've never met or even seen or heard of a person more humble, generous, loving and caring as Vin Scully. He wasn't just the greatest voice in sports history but possibly the greatest example of what it means to be a good human being.
Costner's speech is so fitting for an icon and a legend. Vin is a man of calmness, his style when big moments happen is that he calls the game as fast a he can and then pause for silence to let his audience feel the roar, feel the chills and live by the moment.
September 25th: A day where we said goodbye to three wonderful people: one who had lived out his life to fullest, giving us a love of golf; to one whose life was cut way to short; to one who we listened to on the radio or TV who now will go one to live out his life. This day will forever be on my heart for a very long time
I grew up in Chicago a Cubs fan and had the likes of Harry Caray and Jack Brickhouse who were great in their own right but they were no Vin Scully. Later on I moved out to Los Angeles and while I am still a Cubs fan I was privileged to hear Vin call some games he truly is the master.
Heck of a speech. I grew up with Vin Scully's voice around the house, coming out of garages where men were working on projects as I walked my dog in the evenings, on the car radio and on the radio in our house. A lot of nights, while with my dog, just as I got out of hearing distance of one garage, I came into the hearing distance of the next. It was like I didn't have to miss one pitch as Vin and Jerry Dogget (sp?) called those games. The phrase "swung on and hit to deep center field, Mays goes back, to the warning track, to the wall, sheeee's gone!" is one I heard a lot. Yup, we all brought our "transistor radios" to Dodger Stadium and Vin could be heard even if your didn't bring your own radio to the seats. I first heard him when I was 7, sitting behind the screen in left field watching the Dodgers play at the Coliseum. I moved away from southern California nearly 50 years ago and could hear his voice nearly nightly, but every once in a while would tune a Dodger game in when nighttime propagation was right and the memories would pour in. I miss Vin Scully, he was simply the best.
Slightly trailing speech, but poignant nonetheless. I'm a 32 year old Red Sox fan who feels that baseball has lost a great. My hat is off to Vin Scully and I wish him Gods speed for the rest of his life.
One advantage for Vin Scully is that he voluntarily retired and is getting to hear all the tributes that he would miss if he never quit. Of course that isn't why he retired!
K.C. Huffman I feel like America was America with Vin. We rooted together. We shared experiences. We didn't see our differences in the political world, only in the teams we rooted for. We lost you tonight, Vin. America lost its voice.
No one it seems heard him when he announced for the real dodgers--the brooklyn dodgers. No one it seems heard him announce the end of the 1955 series I feel sorry for you
Benjamin Wilson The game was sold out. Most people got there on time, but it was a Friday night at 6:30pm and it's not easy to arrive on schedule with L.A. traffic to Chavez Ravine.
I'm in Straight tears as if I haven't heard this so many times before being brought back here on the day he passed away. God rest this man's soul. We love you Vin. Rest in Peace
Same 😭
One of the greatest speeches I've ever heard for the greatest sports broadcaster I've ever heard.
Yeah, Costner killed it.
@Leny Herrera..amen..
Vin Sculley truely made Dodger Stadium, a field of dreams.

Braves fan here. Absolutely the GOAT.

missed even more after he passed away yesterday.
This had me in tears.....
In mourning the loss and sadness of Vin's passing, no words have offered comfort, but this comes pretty close.

I was at this game and great words by Kevin Costner. I was honestly about to cry realizing that no more Vin. Thank you Vin Scully!🙏🏼🙏🏼
Grateful to have been there as well.

Vin Scully was perfection ...even when you weren’t rooting for the Dodgers.

He’s my Father of Baseball,I will never forget him for as long as I live. From being a kid to a Man, I will always cherish the memories.
Vin Scully saved my life. That's 100% a true story.

Vin Scully could read me the phone book, and I would hanging on too every word from start to finish.
We miss and love you, Vin. 💙
Wow! Amazing speech by Costner! Didn't know there were any real feelings in the Southland!
I miss Vin
Dodger Stadium really needs to be named the Vin Scully Dodger Stadium
At least the booth. Forever, the games be broadcast from the Vin Scully booth.
Slightly trailing speech, but poignant nonetheless. I'm a 32 year old Red Sox fan who feels that baseball has lost a great. My hat is off to Vin Scully and I wish him Gods speed for the rest of his life.
CooterCoy He's enjoying his retirement good for him he deserve it
My childhood
One advantage for Vin Scully is that he voluntarily retired

Of course that isn't why he retired!
Ernie Harwell was my favorite but Vin Scully will always be the best! Enjoy retirement Mr. Scully!

Farmer delivered right here!!!!
Almost forgot to watch this today.
😭🐐
MLB REALLY need ads on this video?
I was a Costner fan for years and he even went to the same high school I did, but his “I’m with Liz Cheney” shirt made him persona non grata.
😥
No one it seems heard him when he announced for the real dodgers--the brooklyn dodgers. No one it seems heard him announce the end of the 1955 series I feel sorry for you
Kevin loves Liz. Eeew!
Why is this game not sold out? WEAK SAUCE, LA!
You mean the MLB attendance leaders (Current and of all-time) ?
Benjamin Wilson The game was sold out. Most people got there on time, but it was a Friday night at 6:30pm and it's not easy to arrive on schedule with L.A. traffic to Chavez Ravine.
It took me 2 hours to get there because of traffic and i get out of work at 6pm. So most people get there late like me and i dont leave there early/
Spoken like a true Giants fan.....Its the traffic, dude....That game was completely sold out including standing room only tickets....
