The performance pedals are an easy way to upgrade the interior of your Model 3 or Y, for a fraction of the price of those sold by Tesla. Finished in brushed stainless steel, installation is straight forward, it just requires a little finger strength to manipulate the rubber. Be sure to leave the pedals out in some warm sun if you can, as that will make the rubber much more pliable.
Just did this install and I can’t recommend enough warming up the rubber! Put it in hot water for a few and then for good measure hit it with the blow dryer for another minute. Spent 20 minutes pulling the skin off my fingers before trying that and when I did it went on immediately no issues! Warm it up!
If it helps anyone, the easiest way to install the acceleration pedal is to slide the bottom of the pedal into the top of the pedal covers. then slide the whole pedal cover upwards.
Genius.. couldn’t do it and it took seconds this way.
@@jamesryanherrera9368 you're welcome. Reading RUclips comments can be beneficial sometimes. ;-)
SECOND THIS. warmed them up with a heat gun, then hooked around the top edge of the new pedal to the bottom of the existing pedal, and the thing slid right on like a glove. Even easier than the brake pedal. THANK YOU SIR ❤
dude thank you!
This is the way!
You weren't kidding you need finger strength to install these! Your demonstration of how much you had to move the accelerator pedal in each direction emboldened me to do the same, which was enough to get the job done.
Thanks for the multiple camera angles and the detailed work👍
I'd recommend everyone pump iron and try to get your grip strength to that of a 400lb gorilla to make the install go easier. That being said, it's a pain, but it's doable.
Installed the pedal covers today. The pedals were put in baggies to keep dry and warmed in hot water to soften rubber
before installing. Brake pedal went on had more trouble with accelerator pedal bottom rubber edge. Used a paint can opener to gently pry around edge. Total time took about 20 minutes. Worth the effort, looks great.
Helpful video- thanks. Abstract Ocean’s pedals are a superior product to any others I have seen installed. Well done from the UK.
just got them in. very good quality
Really appreciate this video! The extra angles really helped.
easiest way for accel pedal is to use thin flat driver to guide the rubber
took me almost 15-20min tried to fit that without it. with the driver, Bam! 20sec.
Great video. Angles are super helpful
Nice video.
Where did you get your dead pedal cover?
We used to sell them, but they've been discontinued for a couple of years now.
What is the point for these performance pedals? Is it mainly the aesthetic?
Yes. Same reason Tesla installs them in performance models.
@@AbstractOcean ty, thats cool to know.
is the material actually metal?
Yes - the top surface is stainless steel, with the rubber underneath to wrap around the pedals.
very difficult
What is a “MY20?”
Gurjot Singh model year 20. Although Tesla doesn’t have model years in the same way as traditional manufacturers, the VIN still designates a model year, which for Tesla generally means it was built in November of the preceding calendar year.
A really stupid abbreviation for a "Model Y" that Tesla owners use to confuse people and sound sophisticated.
@@cpreid It's Model Year 20, a common abbreviation used in automotive.
My apologies. I been seeing people abbreviate model y to “my”
you must heat it up..... if not your will not get them on and your fingers will be destroyed
Took this boomer all of 10 minutes. Easy to do.
Made my day reading this comment 😂😂
Installing these without warming the plastic is near impossible. Even after warming the rubber. I wanted to smash my car with a sledgehammer in frustration 🥲
