Maurice Andre. You are the world in trumpet playing to me Sir. I am 50, being playing since the 6th grade I am now discovering the piccolo. I am learning from your playing and always will. Sincerely, Stoney
Bravo! Indeed the master of the piccolo trumpet! He brought the instrument to the forefront and set the bar very high for those that followed! He is one of the finest trumpet players of our time!
It is such a great pleasure not only to listen to Maurice Andre, but also to watch his right hand dance over the button of the trumpet, to bring out those extraordinary tremendous and trills -- it is so much like USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN, --a BHARATRATNA ( JEWEL OF INDIA), on his mastery with the SHENAI. EVERLASTING MUSIC from both these maestros.
Klasse! Maurice auf einer deutschen hoch B! (A) Blitzsauber! Was für ein Ansatz! Hammer!
You can not say enough about his stellar technique & tonality of “bouncing” through passages to make them sound effortless. Never a “ta” or a “to” sound: just a “dah” or a “do”.
He played piston valve instruments by Selmer then Schilke (mid to late eighties) then Stomvi until about 96/97 when he returned to Selmer (the "Guy Touvron" model), then he switched to this Scherzer which was built with the fourth valve being one tone (the same arrangement he had on some of his previous instruments). He used this on his last two or three albums. I suspect it may have been down to arthritic issues with his hands by this point. He had a number of medical challenges but he got through them well. He did a lot of flugel playing on his later recordings which is very good indeed.

Maurice is awesome.

the best trumpet
Perfektion auf höchster Stufe...Glasklare Töne...Absolut
MASTER
Lovely musical performance !
Best !!
When Maurice Andre makes mistakes it makes you feel so much better about your own playing.
He was also 64 in this
that's why he is the Best...
Simlpy magic....
It's the copy of the video I have recently posted on Facebook.
Interesting. I didn't know that Andre played on rotary valved instruments.
he sometimes used pistons, and endorsed for Selmer Paris for a long time

So tasty. Crisp attack. Lovely.
L'unico.
You sure this is from '98???
I think the instrument was working against him. He does much better on a piston valved horn.
Not actually Tartini's trumpet concerto.
What are you talking about? It's the 3rd movement.
This is a little tacky, but he never drops a f----g note...EVER!!!
