Born and raised in Rochester. Moved away...and then came back. A great place for food, family, cocktails, hills, lakes, hikes, cocktails, locally-sourced wines, festivals, fall colors and cocktails.
Why does it get a bad rap? Can’t control the weather, definitely not the only place with harsh winters. Is it the parts of the city with pockets of crime.?
Wow, my new home. Moved to the Rochester area 6 years ago from Texas after divorce. Love it here. People are warm and inviting. The trees, Erie Canal, Fall Foliage, mild summers, and the beautiful snow!
@@bobdroll6381 If you're on the South/East side, you'll be fine and there are some great neighborhoods, but the North/West ends are quite dangerous with some of the worst crime rates in the state and really hurt the overall statistics of the city
Rochester has been trying to become a foody city for more than a decade. It's nice to see it is moving that direction. We aren't NYC, but there are some great places with talented chefs who appreciate quality food
I've lived in the Rochester area for 44 years, and we are an underrated gem. Our winters can suck, but when the weather is better in the spring, summer, and fall, we are a place that tourists can say they had plenty of fun. And compared with other U.S. cities, we are a reasonably affordable place to live as well.
My parents moved me to Fairport in 1965, in 1973 I moved to San Diego, I couldn't wait to get F of NYS, cloudy, muggy, rainy, hot humid summers, tons of mosquitoes, cold clammy winters...... I never looked back.
My hometown. I've been gone for 33 years and I've lived in South Florida all this time, but I miss a lot about my hometown where my family and friends still live. I wish you could have seen the downtown of the 60s 70s and early 80s. It was our little Manhattan and it was a bustling thriving City with department stores that rivaled Macy's and Bloomingdale's. I worked at many of the restaurants downtown back in those days and it was a fabulous fabulous place.
Enjoyed your video thank you Born in Rochester live in suburb on the west side… the more I travel, the more I appreciate the region… it’s truly a beautiful area, many things to do and places to explore
Just grateful and glad to see some other people that have been following I'm going to start following you thank you guys for who you are blessings safe travels
Its funny. There's like two sides to Rochester. There's the side that feels some kind of borough or large neighborhood in NYC. Bodegas, old brick buildings, and we even had a subway some time ago. The other is like a little Portland. Craft beers, vegan joints, hippie stores, and yeah our farmers market is awesome. If you ever do come back, you should check out some hots restaurants like Nick Tahou's or dog town and get a famous garbage plate. Dinosaur makes some of the best barbeque in town if you're looking for some. You should check out this side to the city next time you come thru.
Grew up here and have moved away and back many times. Rochester is what you make it. For a mid-sized city and metro it has a lot to offer. You showed a lot of us what it is like to see it with fresh eyes again. Well done! Happy you enjoyed our time here. Try Letchworth State Park some time. NY also has good State Parks where it is safe and affordable to camp along Lake Ontario or in the Adirondaks. Someone mentioned Maine. I lived in New England for a few years. I would highly recommend Keene, NH; Portsmouth, NH and Portland, Maine. All great little cities in their own right.
The shot at the one brewery with the waterfall and the train going across the trestle was good. We too like to get our clothes at a thrift store. Always a good deal and saves them from getting thrown out.

Hi Dennis and Liz! Great video on Rochester NY. Nice that you had great food there and did some shopping at a market. They always have desks there on fruits and all. Nice you’re visiting a friend. Nice they have business dealing with Guinea pig toys and what have you. That’s nice and the merchandise is sold at Petsmart. Great job on in your pumpkins you carved. Thank you for this video and can’t wait to see your friends get their Rv going and you’ll be camping with them. Hope you have a great week. See you soon!

It's good to see you both enjoying your friends' company and sharing some common goals. Farmer's markets are great- here in Dordrecht we have both Friday and Saturday 8am till 4pm both food and non food. It's a cultural thing. Don't think there is a township or village without one. That inner city waterfall is amazing. Your food videos are incredible and I always make sure now I've just eaten- or am about to eat. They tantalize my tastebuds no end. Happy travels, stay safe and be happy. 🙏 🇳🇿🙋 🇳🇱
Love that you guys are in New York close to our home! Seeing places we didn't know about so close! (We live in a small town between Buffalo & Rochester.) Can't wait to see your next stop!
My hubby carves the pumpkins but because of our warm Indian Summer that can't happen till later this week...I, however, paint mine and start early! If you catch my last video you will see our trip to the Patch for my birthday and how the first pumpkins turned out this year. The food in this video looked amazing! Worth the workout!
If you get to Rochester market there and you're buying food produce etc the smartest time to get it is not early morning it's late afternoon when they're all ready to push everything out very inexpensive and you're talking to an old school old dog boy from Rochester public market
Barely scratched the surface. Mingia. In fall, the first thing is to drive in some wooded areas to see the fall colors on the trees. The best part of Rochester is not even in the city itself.
