I’m a native of Scottsdale, Arizona and at 25 I moved to Rochester, New York. I lived on East Avenue for the first couple years which I enjoyed and worked at Parkleigh which I also very much enjoyed. After house hunting for quite sometime, a home on South Street in Pittsford became mine. Built in 1868, this home had many vintage attributes as well as all the comforts of modern living. Living in the village was a top notch experience though I can’t deny it took time for me to get in line with no central air conditioning or alarm system! Oh and it would be remiss of me to not mention it snowed on Mother’s Day and a massive February snow storm showed up 48 hours after I gave birth to my NY baby at Strong Memorial Hospital (excellent birthing floor in this hospital) and on our first day back home the snow piled up 3/4 of both the front and back doors (so home birth was barely avoided)! Loved the seasons, loved the greenery, loved the history, loved the canal, loved the Highland Park Diner, loved Wegman’s, loved the break of Spring, loved driving down to Lake Ontario, loved exploring the state, loved the absolute juxtaposition between up state NY and AZ (in most every way)…and wouldn’t trade my 6 years living in Rochester/Pittsford! Brought my two children back for their family visits many times and now they are grown up and fly together for those visits!
Truly, a beautiful, sophisticated, educated, friendly, fascinating place. Thank you for your video…well done.

I grew up in Rochester, graduated from Brighton HS in '88, moved west in '94 ...... I actually want to go back now. I don't like the hot, dry, ultra sunny western summers, I miss those humid, rainy upstate NY summers. I prefer humid over dry heat. I have trouble breathing desert dust.

I left Rochester last year and it’s the best thing I ever did! The weather stinks. No sunshine ever, the winters last forever, all big businesses have left, the murder rate is through the roof, it’s like a ghost town. Get out if you can....I’m now loving a warm, sunny, year-round climate without hearing about shootings every morning on the news. Good riddance Rotten-chester!! 🤮

I lived in Rochester, NY, for 12 years ending in January '96. Rochester is far too cold for me. So, I relocated to Miami, FL. If like me, you hate cold weather, and especially snow, Rochester is not for you either. BTW, I worked for Kodak and am glad that I quit of my own volition. If I had waited a few more years, my employment situation would have been very different.

Im in the exact opposite boat. Born and raised in Miami with a stellar job offer in Rochester. I hear it's a great place to raise a family. What was your experience besides the weather?

I lived in Fairport in 2015, I was an Aupair at that time. I moved to other places in the USA after that but it never felt like home the way it was in Rochester for me.
I went back to Rochester to visit some times and it is always so amazing to be there. People are so friendly and happy. As a Brazilian I had to get used to so much snow and things didn't work out for the first couple weeks because I didn't have a car and I couldn't go to places by bus, I don't really remember why.
The Erie Canal in Fairport and Pittsford area and Lake Ontario are my favorite places, sometimes I just close my eyes and I almost can remember the smell of those places, can you believe it? Thanks for your videos, I loved all of them.❤

You claim people are friendly? Where on earth did you get that notion? You must’ve been extremely attractive because the desperate guys in Rochester would be nice to anybody who is halfway attractive

I'm looking to move back to New York from Florida. I've been over Florida for many years now. I've been here since 2008/09. My husband doesn't want to leave though, but I am looking to live a little closer than I am now to my family in NYC. I would move to NYC, but I don't want it to be a culture shock to anyone, especially my children who are 2 and 11. I would like to find a residential/ family oriented community. My children don't even know their cousins like that in NYC. We have no other family here in Florida but us and I feel like they are missing out on that family time. Don't get me wrong, I love my home in Florida. I love the neighborhood that I live in. I'm suppose to retire in 10 years, but I am so ready to go. Do you think I would be making the right choice moving back to New York?
