Just in case you were wondering as well... 😂
Foveated imaging is a digital image processing technique in which the image resolution, or amount of detail, varies across the image according to one or more "fixation points". A fixation point indicates the highest resolution region of the image and corresponds to the center of the eye's retina, the fovea.
"significant performance optimization" now that is something i look forward to
Foveated rendering is eye tracking based rendering using eye tracking to render what your looking at sharply but things not in direct focus are rendered down. Give huge benefits to the cost of rendering and makes vr much more enjoyable with better graphical fidelity.
Note you do not notice the rendering, it's very well implemented.
Good vid! Not trying to overhype best to keep expectations in check just in guess however I think this could be a Content Update! Last year 2022 when we get the Experimental for the Expedition Redo they mention that it would be a Expedition Redo this time they did not. Also in the post for Expeditions 11 Voyagers on August 31, 2023 they mentioned there will be more news soon so I think that says they are not done with 2023 yet!
8gb pretty big... Let the data mining commence!
Size of the update means very little. NMS has a lot of large files, and even if they changed a single bit in that file, the entire file must be downloaded to replace the old one. Over many files this adds up quickly. This doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of new content, but it's not an effective sign that there is.

Thanks Beebs❤
Bug fixes are always welcome.
👍🏻 feel it’s prep for more in a bit
Hope so bud.
Just rendering my take...
And watching yours as I do...
Agree with your last sentiment...
Perhaps reduxs coming soon...
Nothing in the game files as yet or in game that hints on a new expedition... but not ruling it out.
Touch ups and improvements to physics !
This patch is more exciting to me than any recent content update.
I think the game is in a good place now, the only thing I truly want for it is to iron out all the 80+ bugs that I've logged and this patch addresses a bunch of them.
I agree. There's plenty to do without more content.
I’m new to this channel. Since @beeblebum wasn’t familiar with foveated rendering does that mean he doesn’t do the VR thing? That would be an atrocity if he hasn’t experienced his creations in VR. I’m gonna find some of his builds and check them out.
I've seen the multiple path on the galaxy map a lot lately. Usually while using custom waypoints. They are different colors and can be a little confusing sometimes. I just stared on PC. The bugs are a little different than PS5. I've still got a lot to learn on PC. Thanks!
Woo hoo! Fixing the message modules! I can now share my puzzle base system.
I never thought of doing that it seems like a really cool idea once I read your comment. How did you set something like that up?
Freighter refiner fix?no?
🙏
Hopefully bases won't be overtaken by the terrain you remove while building. I've had to make all my bases elevated now so I don't need to mine them out every time I visit.
Unfortunately this has been an ongoing headache since the game launched in 2016, despite multiple updates claiming it has been fixed
@@mmceorange For some it was. I can go to some old bases back from 2017 and there's no issues. The ones I made when VR got added seem to get buried. The 2021 bases are fine but everything after that year have needed to be elevated. Love the game but it has some hangups.
@@DanAltieri interesting.. I have noticed some bases work better than others, but I haven't kept track of when they were built
hope they fix the UI of airships some are too big and small images
??? Where is this? I've not noticed
Tried it on Mac, no success: Inside freighter bases, all bright color surfaces of rooms, corridors and all other objects are pitch black now.
What is Havok 2023? 🤔
New physics implementation?
Havok in NMS is used especially for physics and cloth.
Havok also has an AI implementation, but I am not sure how much this is used in NMS.
@@Beeblebumhere I was thinking havok was the audio engine.. I must have gotten something mixed up
8GB patch...that's quite a large patch
Size of the update means very little. NMS has a lot of large files, and even if they changed a single bit in that file, the entire file must be downloaded to replace the old one. Over many files this adds up quickly. This doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of new content, but it's not an effective sign that there is.

@mmceorange I'm more concerned with the space constraints I have on my external hard drives for my Xbox.
Eventually (unfortunately relatively soon), I'll have to start making the choice between updating and playing NMS, which means uninstalling other games/not installing other games.
Or give up on NMS.
I only have so much space
@@angelitabecerra again, downloading 8GB doesn't mean adding 8GB to the overall install. Much (but not all) of it is replacing existing files. Check the installed size on your drive
No fix for xbox memory leak? :(
Bug-fixes and Quality of Life changes. No need to get excited.
bug fixes and performance changes are pretty exciting
There are lot to fix: loading time, popups, lod, lost trigger points at some missions, very limited flora, fauna, terrain, station ,suits etc variability...but "Fixed an issue that could cause the starting Multi-Tool to be green instead of orange." WTF ❓❗Hello Games know what is important🥴
*Adds content*.. "What about bug fixes?"
*Fixes bugs*.. "What about content?"
Can never win with some people..
Most of the things you listed aren’t fixes.
Additionally, sometimes there are things that are cheap to fix (as in time taken) that gets fixed because “might as well while I’m in this bit of code”
Being an end user doesn’t give you the insight into development that you think it does.
@@midniteoyl8913 Theres a bug on xbox that forces you to restart every hour and its not been fixed for over a year, they're definitely not fixing bugs nearly as much as they could.
@@kelvinrichardson5324I agree with you, but there are definitely some things that are proven to be super easy to fix but still haven't since NEXT, like the water render height bug
@@mmceorange ..just one example . cant open quick menu in Nautilon. First comments about this issue are from 2018(!)
