Regarding diet: "This is not one size fits all...it's not even one size fits all *for you,* over the course of your life. You know, five years ago your needs may have been very different than what they are right now.." Exactly!...this is so well said. Great interview.

I have no TV and don't shop so I'd never heard of Dr. Gottfried, so thank you Kris! I'll be 60 next year and have a pretty calm life but I've always been a 'type A' personality. I've already dealt with malignant melanoma (almost 10 years ago : ) and altered my diet (mostly alkaline & vegan). I'm fit and beach walk daily but having gone through menopause 7 years ago I notice hormone discourse. I don't buy chocolate but do splurge on dark chocolate almond milk once in a blue moon. Thanks for this introduction Kris and Sara!

I am suffering from Endometrial Hyperplasia since about 2017. I was first hit with extreme vaginal bleeding about 2007. The gynecologist I had advised on a Mareina with curite. Yes, it helped for 5 years, then I had another for 5 years. Then 5 years was up again but I decided I did not want another. Then in 2017, the 24/7 bleeding started again. I am taking medication for the past 18mths to stop bleeding. The high stress this year from Covid-19 has impacted my uterus. Over the past 8 weeks, I have been researching Hormones and imbalances can cause the condition I now have. In December 2019 I had to have another curite and cancer check before having a hysterectomy in 2020. But because of Covid-19 I have not proceeded with the hysterectomy. With my research on Hormone Imbalance I have found out it is most likely the Estrone has been high for many years. I am not keen on the big operation. I would like to know your thoughts on my thinking please Sara?

Thank you for such good information. I have been reading a lot about the hormones lately. I have one question for you. I am aware of my hormones being out of balance, but: Do you have any suggestions for what to do when you are dealing with an sever eating disorder for many years. How can I work with my stress around food, body and money to regulate my hormones?

Love you Kris but the stress intro was unrealistic. "Taking time" is a great choice if you have it, but when say, your a caregiver or you have little children, when your life is truly complicated you do not have the luxury of yoga or a hike. Sometime I dont get the luxury of a shower, lol. People with the stress that needs alleviating do not have a support system- they dont have family to help, friends that can give freely, hearing "unstructured time" implies you CAN be away from kids or elderly or work. And if you can...then you dont have a stress problem that requires intervention, imo.

I highly recommend reading or watching Dr Kelly McGonigal's book/ TED talk called the Upside of Stress. Stress is not always bad for us. It is how we cope with it and the narrative that we tell ourselves when stressed which determines how we respond and cope with stress. The book goes deeper in how we define stress and is chock full of scientific evidence of interventions used which have showed the resilience and positive effects that stress coping can bring in some instances.

Good info on the approximate amount of net carb required by women. I've been on a strict low carb diet for about 60 days (20g & below) and my menses were all messed up (irregular, spotting, late) which I don't experience when I was taking much higher carb. I'm been doing some reading and watching vid such as this to understand better how carbs influence hormonal balance in women. Info focuses on women on this matter are quite limited. Thank you so much for this valuable knowledge. I'm trying to find my sweet spot now on my right amount of carb so that it'll not lead to adrenal stress which eventually cause higher level of cortisol. Hope to get everything well regulated again soon. Thanks!!

I'd also suggest some level of intermittent fasting, even if it's just 12 hours off, and no snacking, to keep the insulin down.

Isn't raw cacao (powder, nibbs) even better (than extra dark chocolate) to rebalance one's cortisol level?

(sorry, no idea why the text appears in strike-hrough here??) - Kris, Sara, - fabulous session - fun and informative to listen and watch - allow me a note on Omega 3 ALA from plant source, please - although, yes, some people may have less efficient conversion rates than others ( for DHA it is noted that men can, on average, convert around 5% of ALA to DHA; women can convert a bit more, because of need for pregnancy/nursing for the infant, 2 - 9 %), even at low conversion rates, a few tablespoons of flax oil, for example, will provide plenty of source Omega 3 fatty acid to provide for plenty EPA and DHA - two tablespoons of flax oil can, even at low 2% conversion, still provide 200+mg of DHA - The important point to recognize is, that Omega 3 ( and Omega 6 healthily pressed!! and unrefined!!) need to be taken in 'macro'-dosage, not small supplemental dosages ( such as one would take a fish-oil dosage of 2 - 5 1000mg capsules), but take flax oil, chia seed oil, sacha inchi... by the table spoon ( I take easily 3 - 6 table spoons of flax oil, Udo's oil, Omega 3-6 blends in a day... and still use additionally some coconut oil, have fats from an organic kefir or yoghurt, nuts and seeds... ) - these are -*-food-*- oils, not supplements ! Most importantly, when buying such oils, the pressing method is of utmost priority to be considered - a commercial flax oil press can create (seeds are small and somewhat hard and a grinding-pressing method will create temperatures up to 150Celsius just by the nature of the pressing... and still can be labeled 'cold-pressed' (no -*-intentional external-*- heat added) !! So we need to choose our Flax-oil and Omega3-6/9 Oils wisely, knowing how the company presses them... any fats and oils, for that matter !! ( yes, I am biased towards the company Flora (Udo's Oil), here in Canada, and do education for them; but as a independent natural health practitioner, I choose to do education for them, rather than others, because of their no-heat, no air, no-light oil pressing methods ) - in any case, that's not the point - the point is that many people simply do not eat enough -*-healthy-*- fats to allow their bodies the conversion amounts needed and to supply all the tissues with fatty acids needed for healthy functioning; and it is difficult to supply simply the volume/amount needed with fish oils alone (too much trans fatty acids, too much animal protein, sugar, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, imbalanced ration between Omega3 - 6, nutrient deficiencies... all can inhibit our natural conversion rates); one needs to use nutritional-food oils for the main part of daily fatty intake - well, thanks much for your video and reading to the end of this rant :-) - I look forward to exploring your hormone-blog, Sara, and listening to more of your videos, Kris - good wishes

So what's the deal with not believing that stress is harmful? Does this mean your cortisol levels are ok no matter what? Seems to me that this belief system would be a more important issue than the rest of this video, yet it was not elaborated on, nor were we given methods to alter our belief systems. Help, please?
