Being stuck in traffic, rushing to a meeting or finishing a task right before the deadline are all similar to being chased by a wild animal for your brain. This kickstarts your emergency response, and your body releases cortisol, norepinephrine and a host of other hormones to tackle your state of emergency. The energy we feel is a result of a surge in these hormones.
