What's going on with Portable Ops? In the last 12 months there's been major retrospectives from Christian Cryers, thevoicebox, Chole, Gaming Pastime, Keiv Reviews Things, and now Max Derrat!!! It's awesome to see the game getting such coverage; such an unfairly forgotten gem. Yeah, the controls on the PSP made it borderline unplayable, but playing it on an emulator now, it plays pretty much identical to MGS3: Subsistence, and it looks damn good too.
I would love to play a remake of PO. The story could be tweaked a little, and expanded upon. I would add a hub in the middle of San Hieronimo, so that Snake and the other soldiers could actually feeroam the peninsula while completing main and side quests. I would add a creepy boss fight with Ursula in which the player should be forced to physically attack her to demage her, while she floats around, in a vertical arena, throwing stuff. I would put a countdown that forces the player to finish the story before the end of 1970, otherwise there is a cinematic game over(and after the game over, there would be a new game + with all the previous upgrades to speed up the new run). And then i would add a chapter covering the firsts official foxhound missions, where Snake saves Eva in Hanoi, and then splits from Cypher, escaping in south America. Playing as Foxhoud would allow to add an endless coop missions system similar to PO+.
I assumed Big Boss used the money to help fund the Patriots. My idea for an MPO remake was always to have a large open map that expands each existing map into a large sections of the peninsula. You'd eventually move to capturing bases to accommodate more troops, with a risk of enemy inspections afterwards exposing them and forcing you to head over and help defend the base from the enemy assault. And support troops actually appear on the map. Maybe you're about to infiltrate the hospital, so you head to a nearby ridge where your support unit is stationed to retrieve some supplies. And once you're down there, if they have a sniper among them, they can provide cover like Quiet in MGSV.
The team behind the Metal Gear Solid 1 remake could just expand upon on the original gameplay by adding more content and bigger areas to explore, almost like Resident Evil 4 remake, except while maintaining the feel of the original without changing the cutscenes like how Twin Snakes made it more bombastic.
I was expecting ghost babel. It's a pretty good game, except for that box maze. The game boy color was pretty limited though, so the prone button was the start button, something Ive never seen a game do before
@@mikemcmullen5006 ghost babel was probably one of the best games of the gameboy color, and a very good mgs game. It was my first mgs game, and made me fall in love with the series.
Peace Walker is my favorite. It has always been. it's just so replayable for me Love the boss fights, your own metal gear customization, and that you could play as someone you capture
I liked it good enough but i coudnt finish it bc i didnt had friends to play with, nor wanted to grind the missions to unlock the fun stuff. I disliked so much that half the missions are filler to lock you out of progressing the development tree, let alone fighting the same tank 20 times. 20. Not even exagerating, maybe downplaying bc it could easily have been 25. I would have loved to see pw remade on Fox engine
@giordanogarduno9207 if you are playing nonleathal with Stealth you can take out the troops and folten, then when there are no troops left the driver sticks his head out and can be put to sleep with a sleep dart for a win with getting to keep the tank and the people without having a hard fight, also engineers who drive have high stats for R&D so it helps get the gear you need
I would say the Acid games are even less well remembered than Portable Ops. I don't need remakes of them, but I would like to see Konami port them to Steam. Also, regarding the PO plot, the "Ghost" twist was originally quite silly, but in the context of MGSV, where XOF was cleaning up after Snake during MGS3, it's more plausible that Skull Face captured him before the destruction of Grozny Grad.
I wanna see a Peace Walker Remake that has a MGS5 style map, multiplayer, and the side op missions be realized, observed, and result in the open world simulation. bring the story w vo and mocap too
I honestly want a game or series focusing on Gray Fox starting from the beginning...adoption of Naomi, the affair with Natasha/Gustava, the corruption during MG1/MG2, the genome expirements, MGS1.
Fireman’s carry from TPP, would be an easy fix for dragging. You’d still have to carry them to a truck but it would be faster and you could still use one handed weapons.
It was so cool that if MGSV detected that you had Portable Ops save data in the PSP, it would automatically give you Invisible by Duran Duran instead of forcing you to unlock it in Chapter 3
@@phantombigboss8429I dont remember nothing about MGSV except a fake big boss beta cuckold keeping his mouth still while being told what to do by Ocelot and Miller. You know nothing about a good Metal Gear game or writing that doesnt cater to your lolicon fetishes.
I remember at the time PO came out I didnt have the money for it, but I did when PO+ came out. I bought it thinking it was OP AND a new online multiplayer feature. Turns out it was ONLY an online multiplayer game, and I was none too impressed.
If they keep the truck as the extraction method, then a different animation to carry should be used, like a fireman carry or an over the shoulder. Leaving one hand open for a pistol. Makes it faster. Keep the drag for other things but if you want to take them, then you do the alternate carry.
Yea I’ve been thinking they should do portable ops next, hopefully with real cutscenes (at least as an option)! I played a little of it and it’s pretty good. It’s confirmed canon by mgsv as it references the events of the game when ocelot says big boss got half of the legacy and ocelot got the second half.
10:54 i believe there's a middle ground to be found here, and that is how you'd rescue POWs in Ground Zeroes, by carrying them on your back while still being able to run and shoot with your handgun. It could also serve as a "bridge" mechanic between MGS Delta (picking up the bodies also on your back, but just to hide them) and a possible Peace Walker Remake (making the fulton feel like an earned natural evolution mechanic, bringing this trilogy full circle back to Phantom Pain)
22:20 Max, I really respect you and your previous work, and how you deep dive into the stories of various media, especially Kojima games (where lines of dialogue can have double meanings in both a narrative and meta sense). That’s why I think it’s kinda bizarre that you take the “leave all that crap behind” line at complete face value. Like, Kojima wrote that line at the very start of a game that would go on to completely disregard the events of “all that crap in San Heironymo.” (as Ravi Singh showed in his editorial on the subject, “Leaving All That Crap in San Heironymo Behind”) While it’s true that, circa MGS4, Kojima initially intended MPO to be canon (hence why it’s listed among other canon games in that exposition cutscene with Naomi you showed), it’s become pretty obvious since PW that he’s been trying to “leave all that crap in San Heironymo behind.” And since MGS4 only references MPO in a few cutscene stills, that made it an easy game to disregard. It’s not that much different from how the weapon description for the Five-SeveN references the non-canon Ghost Babel. When asked if MPO is still canon, Kojima initially said that the main story is canon, but some of the details aren’t. However, he immediately backtracked, and said, rather than saying if it’s canon or not, he instead emphasized that, inside him, he divides “A Hideo Kojima Games” from games he only produced. Having said all of that, the Master Book included in the Master Collection (released after Konami kicked Kojima out of his own creation) does include the events of MPO in the timeline, and explicitly says that the game’s events connects to the series canon. So MPO fans can find solace in the fact that Metal Gear’s corporate IP overlords have decreed that they regard the game as canon. I just wish more people tried to understand Kojima’s actual POV.
Always liked the simplistic ink-line comic style drawings that comprised Portable's cutscenes. Even made me try and get into concept art back in the day. Would be interesting to see what they could do with it in the modern day, that's for sure.
While I wouldn't mind a Portable Ops remake, to me there's only one answer to what games need a remake the most: the two OG Metal Gear games. The events there are so pivotal to everything that's been happening in the series. I mean that's the games where Solid Snake actually fought Big Boss. IMO there is no higher rank match up in the entire series yet we are stuck with that dated encounter. There's a guy here on RUclips who's remaking the first game as an anime and he really manages quite well to a tense athmosphere worthy of the events. If you watch that and then watch what it actually refers to in the game, you cannot help but wish you got a remake from the ground up.
A Max Derrat MGS video is just what the doctor ordered to fight an annoying bout of covid. And it’s about the underrated Portable Ops? You’re a gem of a man, Max.
Honestly, they did bring up MGO recently on a production episode. They could remake Portable Ops as the designated "Metal Gear Online Saga" game. It still will have the campaign and essentially just with a modern coat of paint or even make it a Peace Walker lite. But instead of slapping MGO on every new game, you could have PO be the online game.
I'd prefer they combine Portal Ops with Peace Walker since they're basically the same story and both a prelude to MGS5. (Plus neither is strong enough to be standalone stories.)
In response to chapter 5, before or after knocking out an enemy, pause the game and see the closest hiding spots. Drag the character next to the nearest hiding spot, change characters, then call it in using the second character. Multiple soldiers can be dragged next to the same spot and be called in at the same time. About the hiding spots, sometimes it matters if you are indoors or outdoors. I remember at on the 1st level(the prison), if you are on the catwalk there is one hiding spot, but you enter the building 3 steps away that hiding spot disappears and there are others available. Be careful to not leave a body on top of the hiding spot because it becomes unusable so move the body a little. Also, this should be done after the recruitment codec number is unlocked. Unlocking the codec number is finicky. If an enemy is is already in right radius of the hiding character but the codec number isn't unlocked yet, the enemy must be dragged out and then into the radius for the event to trigger and to unlock the number. This game does not properly teach how good the recruitment can be and I think it took a bit of experimentation for me to find this for myself. Out of the 4 guides on Gamefaqs, only katastrophe had this tip. After playing and finishing this game last year, I couldn't find one RUclips guide or reviewer who knew about this. Honestly, I am laughing a little bit at 9:50 because I know precisely which corner in that building you could have dragged that enemy to, for some reason this information seems to be rare or at least I could barely find it.
This game paved the way into the peacewalker and MGS V era with its gameplay mechanics. Also the story made a good connection from MGS 3 to Peacewalker. I remember I used to love to play it. You didnt mention the online Mode and MGSPOps+ was focusing a lot on multiplayer. I found it superb for a handheld game. It might have even give me more joy than PW.
• Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker • Metal Gear Solid • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Director's Cut (Kojima involved) • "Metal Gear" or "Metal Gear Solid 0: Outer Heaven" (Kojima Involved) I don't think most of this is necessary really.
Why is Ghost Babel not on these lists if Portable Ops is as far as semi canonicity. Would Ghost Babel be a possibility of a remake? Truly the MGS game time forgot
Ghost Babel is trickier because it ignores even MG2 and also has Snake acting like it's the first time he's meeting Mei Ling. That game isn't even trying to be line with the main series.
@ko873 I get what you're trying to say given the easter egg in the game, but clearly that's not the case. Unless Raiden is ignorant enough to belive Alaska is tropical 😋
On the topic of a 'Game Everyone Forgot Exists', would you ever consider looking at the ending speech in 'Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs' (2013) in relation to 'most profound' moments in videogames?
Exactly. I also want more alternate timeline Metal Gear Solid in general. Maybe a story written by Yoko Taro in his own version of the Metal Gear universe.
The canon issue is just childish fandom. Does it fundamentally contradict the main games? No? It fits then. These questions have come about only because some fans take themselves to be some sort of Kojima purists and feel that they "owe" him to acknowledge or reject certain games. One of the many problems with this is that nobody could acknowledge any MG game after Kojima passes away.
Portable Ops is Canon, I'm pretty sure Kojima made future metal gear games with Portable Ops story in mind and it heavily reference in the future games. That should make Portable Ops Canon but for some reason, Kojima says it isn't because he didn't make it? But he basically stolen a lot from it.
@@cookie.2118 Right! Besides this, it never quite made sense to me that Snake went from idealist rookie to leader of a rogue nation only because some slimy government dude was a pain in the ass throughout Peace Walker - after all, he still fights for America in the PW showdown. MPO was so ahead of its time. I truly believe that without it we wouldn't have had the base building mechanic as well as the solider recruitment systems that came out in later games (plus the multiplayer was awesome).
Good stuff once again. Keiv Reviews Things put out his review for this game just a few days ago, so seeing Portable Ops see some coverage has been nice to see.
One thing I would add to these inconsistencies at 22:40 - 23:20, which is not exactly inconsistencies, but I genuinely dislike the Idea of Big Boss had been prophesied, that his sons will save the world. I could rant about it for long, but I try keep it short. It takes away the impact of Solid Snake's struggle with Genes, that he overcomes during the Shadow Moses. This plot point alone, is the ultimate reason of why I'm not considering Portable Ops being canon. If this game is going to be remade to be a 100% canon, remove this prophecy sh!t out of it. Oh, and don't revive Sokolov... Sorry for my imperfect English, since it's not my native language.
the way you can make easier gather the soldiers is with the system to MGSV, carrying them on you shoulder, which allows you to move faster and use a weapon. As portable ops uses the system of MGS2 and 3, that was designed to hide guards instead of carrying them, well, it sucks.
When it comes to the segmented missions from the original, here's how they could be modernized: instead of always having to go back to the HQ menu to select the next mission, why not take a page out of Capcom's book from Resident Evil 4 remake? Turn the main individual story missions for one area into one giant level that you need to explore to progress to the next area, and have side missions as side objectives that can be completed at your own pace (like the blue medalion side quests). It would certainly help to make the game feel less repeditive and much more dynamic.
Youre nuts if you think Portable Ops or even Peace Walker are getting remakes on the scale of MGS3. Thatd be like if Capcom decided to do a from the ground up remake of Resident Evil Revelations instead of Resident Evil 4. The whole point of this big ambitious remakea is to make bank on recognizable classics. Best you can hope for is an enhanced emulation in a Master Collection Vol 2
One of my favorite things about Portable Ops was the possibility of playing with several characters. I hope that if they ever did a remake, they could maintain this characteristic.
Portable OPS deserves attention, Peace Walker uses some of it's features since Kojima mention that brought recruiting enemy soldiers idea for Portable OPS 23:02 got me off guard where you recorded that part of Campbell smiling while ranting
Love the series and can’t wait for everything they are going to do! This video you did definitely shows a good choice that could be for the next step, also I find it funny how you said some people don’t like the long dragged out cutscenes but yet they will sit and play a digital graphic novel or games like until dawn/ the dark pictures anthology where all you do is mostly watch with some choices thrown in!
I have a slightly more elegant solution for the soldier extraction thing. The distance doesn't seem to be an issue. The problem is the speed in which Snake brings the bodies. So instead of dragging them off slowly like an idiot, just make Snake carry them on his shoulders like he does in MGSV, with no hit to his speed. Bam. Problem solved.
Haven't watched your videos for a while, Max. You seem a lot livelier than your previous videos and I like it. The "Zeus' butthole" reference was hilarious. 😂 That took me a minute to remember where it was from, tho I knew it was Nick Cage. Didn't play Portable Ops but may check it out bec of the video. Keep up the great work!
That makes no sense... Why would they remake one of the lowest selling metal gears that isn't made by kojima or even cannon Great video but if you genuinely think they'd even consider remaking this game you're confused
That was my first MGS game I've ever played! I finished story like 30 times, and was obsessed with it lol. Since then, I tried all kinds of MGS games, yet Portable Ops hits different, because it's my nostalgia.
It was one of the first metal gear solid games I played as well (the first being peace walker) but it is pretty weak in both gameplay and story compared to the other games in the franchise.
I've always loved Portable Ops, it was my favorite game on the PSP, and I still have it on my Vita. It was very innovative at the time, including some fledgling online features where your PSP could find and trade soldiers with other players in IRL proximity if I recall correctly. I never got to test that out at the time because no one else I knew had the game, but I still remember thinking that was cool lol
I remember having all my soldiers shot and killed. I was depressed after that. I think the best way to fix the recruitment issue isnt a straight soldier extracted screen. What you need is a failure rate. Give multiple options for extraction and corresponding chances of success. 100% Take your time and drag the soldier to the truck. Works every time. The risk of getting caught the old way still exist. 50-75% Drag them to prearranged locations then call for extraction. A soldier needs to infiltrate and extract so its never 100%. In fact it starts at 50% success rate but do things in mission like diable security measure such as cameras and personnel will increase the chances. 30-50% Much like 50-75% youre calling for an extraction and can increase thr success rate with in mission activities. Instead of dragging the soldier anywhere you put them in a box. With this system even the most tedious extraction becomes more of a choice. You really need this soldier? Are you willing to do what needs be done to get him? Would love to settle things with Null again. There was one change i would love to see. I want to see a base like mgs5 and an affected change due an increase presence. Show me something is improving when we get more men

While disappointed at first, I ended up loving it and eventually put more hours into it then I did the first PO. Would love a remake with some quality of life improvements for sure!!
I think it would be awesome if they did a dual remake with Portable Ops/+ and Peace Walker, sort of like a Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain situation, where you get bonuses based on your completion rate in PO that would roll over into PW
portable ops and portable ops plus were great games that were sadly over-shadowed by Peace Walker. I didn't really like Peace Walker though because it was closer to MGS4 gameplay wise than MGS2/MGS3.
I believe Portable Ops is canon, but the issue that Kojima has it in shaky grounds, is because IMO, he saw what he liked and built on top of it, but while making Peace Walker he also didn't feel constrained by it that is why there are some plot holes, but I can believe that is something that some retcons can easily fix, hell even Gene's speech power can be explained as a parasitic power.

Damn, I thought this was gonna be about Acid
Same lol
I was expecting ghost babel. It's a pretty good game, except for that box maze. The game boy color was pretty limited though, so the prone button was the start button, something Ive never seen a game do before

Peace Walker is my favorite. It has always been. it's just so replayable for me
Love the boss fights, your own metal gear customization, and that you could play as someone you capture
@@giordanogarduno9207 Skill issue
I would say the Acid games are even less well remembered than Portable Ops. I don't need remakes of them, but I would like to see Konami port them to Steam. Also, regarding the PO plot, the "Ghost" twist was originally quite silly, but in the context of MGSV, where XOF was cleaning up after Snake during MGS3, it's more plausible that Skull Face captured him before the destruction of Grozny Grad.
I wanna see a Peace Walker Remake that has a MGS5 style map, multiplayer, and the side op missions be realized, observed, and result in the open world simulation. bring the story w vo and mocap too
Just combine Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain into one epic remake.
Portable Ops has always been one of my favorite MGS games story wise! There's a lot of really powerful scenes that I remember to this day.
hmm I don't remember nothing important at all other than massive plot holes.
@@phantombigboss8429I dont remember nothing about MGSV except a fake big boss beta cuckold keeping his mouth still while being told what to do by Ocelot and Miller. You know nothing about a good Metal Gear game or writing that doesnt cater to your lolicon fetishes.
This video needed to happen, now talk about PeaceWalker again for the
people in the back that claim they love MGS3 but never played Peacewalker.
Instead they played that awful game Poop.
I remember at the time PO came out I didnt have the money for it, but I did when PO+ came out. I bought it thinking it was OP AND a new online multiplayer feature. Turns out it was ONLY an online multiplayer game, and I was none too impressed.
Portable Ops' theme is wonderful. Calling to the night. Love it.
I like portable ops way more than Peace Walker.
Gene and python were great Villains and Johnny dying hit me pretty hard on my first play through.
Like, Kojima wrote that line at the very start of a game that would go on to completely disregard the events of “all that crap in San Heironymo.” (as Ravi Singh showed in his editorial on the subject, “Leaving All That Crap in San Heironymo Behind”)
While it’s true that, circa MGS4, Kojima initially intended MPO to be canon (hence why it’s listed among other canon games in that exposition cutscene with Naomi you showed), it’s become pretty obvious since PW that he’s been trying to “leave all that crap in San Heironymo behind.” And since MGS4 only references MPO in a few cutscene stills, that made it an easy game to disregard.
I know they’ll never do it but I want them to bring back the og theme form portable ops, or at least try to do a new version with the current theme
They also need to make an MGS game focused on the war between Big boss and Zero that was mentioned from mgs4
thats what phantom pain should have been.

The fact that Konami decided to remake the 3rd chapter first, makes me think they want to remake the whole series chronologically
i think it's more because the pachinko machine made it look great. but i hope you're right
While I wouldn't mind a Portable Ops remake, to me there's only one answer to what games need a remake the most: the two OG Metal Gear games.
Anyone complaining about lack of realism in an MGS game needs to get off the internet.
Portable ops was my first MGS game and i feel much nostalgia for it, i still remember the first time i heard Calling to the Night for the first time.
Thank you, Max, for giving me the image of snake playing Operation while wearing oven mitts
Portable Ops will always have a special place in my heart.
Calling to the Night has lived rent free in my head since Christmas 2006.
I'd prefer they combine Portal Ops with Peace Walker since they're basically the same story and both a prelude to MGS5. (Plus neither is strong enough to be standalone stories.)
Like the tanker and plant missions of mgs2, or GZ and tpp in mgsv
No, what I mean is combine the stories entirely in a remake. (As well as Ground Zeroes, now that I think about it.)
Like make a single game where PO is chapter one and PW chapter two or smth?
No, combine the stories entirely. You can do the same with Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2.
At that point you should also combine Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain
Portable ops story is way better than peace walker's awful plot twists.
The big one is adopting the motion comic cuteness in to fully choreographed and rendered cinematics running in engine.
One little thing that I really liked about Gene was that his power was in his voice 🗣
Great video, Max! Would love to play this game again someday!

I don't think most of this is necessary really.
In game-story, Ghost Label is the "Shadow Moses VR" that Raiden did before being approved to do the mission of MGS2.

I think it will happen at some point. Just not sure when.
Everyone REALLY forgets Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel...
Exactly. I also want more alternate timeline Metal Gear Solid in general. Maybe a story written by Yoko Taro in his own version of the Metal Gear universe.
The problem with "is it canon or not" is that Konami just doesn't get to decide that without Kojima.
@@sebastiansanhueza9601portable ops does contradict peace walker
@@cookie.2118 Right! Besides this, it never quite made sense to me that Snake went from idealist rookie to leader of a rogue nation only because some slimy government dude was a pain in the ass throughout Peace Walker - after all, he still fights for America in the PW showdown. It makes so much more sense if he's betrayed by the White House first (MGS3), then by the FBI (PO), and finally by the CIA (PW). Pretty much the whole deep state tries to screw him over. That being the case, sure, bring on Outer Heaven.

Informative as always.
I loved Portable Ops when I played it back in the day on the PSP, it set the foundation for where the series went afterwards.
I loved Gene! Loved his theme, his outfit and being able to throw knives while playing as him
Absolutely, I hope it appears in volume 2 of the collection similar to how Peace Walker was put on the ps3.
Coop would be a good idea I think as everyone always wants and expects multiplayer in games, whether for the better or not.
give us Vol 2 of the collection!
MGS4, portable ops, Acid and peace walker!
the way you can make easier gather the soldiers is with the system to MGSV, carrying them on you shoulder, which allows you to move faster and use a weapon.
You got me way tooooo excited with this video, we need Konami to absolutely do ALL of this
One of my favorite things about Portable Ops was the possibility of playing with several characters. I hope that if they ever did a remake, they could maintain this characteristic.
Portable OPS deserves attention, Peace Walker uses some of it's features since Kojima mention that brought recruiting enemy soldiers idea for Portable OPS
23:02 got me off guard where you recorded that part of Campbell smiling while ranting
Love the series and can’t wait for everything they are going to do! This video you did definitely shows a good choice that could be for the next step, also I find it funny how you said some people don’t like the long dragged out cutscenes but yet they will sit and play a digital graphic novel or games like until dawn/ the dark pictures anthology where all you do is mostly watch with some choices thrown in!
it should be the gameboy color one
I have a slightly more elegant solution for the soldier extraction thing. The distance doesn't seem to be an issue. The problem is the speed in which Snake brings the bodies. So instead of dragging them off slowly like an idiot, just make Snake carry them on his shoulders like he does in MGSV, with no hit to his speed. Bam. Problem solved.
I hate The Boss' new race. Why don't they use the one from the pachinko machine cutscenes?
as someone who played portable ops i didn’t know boxes were a thing for extracting enemies

Calling to the Night is one of the best MGS soundtrack 🤌
I've always loved Portable Ops, it was my favorite game on the PSP, and I still have it on my Vita. It was very innovative at the time, including some fledgling online features where your PSP could find and trade soldiers with other players in IRL proximity if I recall correctly. I never got to test that out at the time because no one else I knew had the game, but I still remember thinking that was cool lol
I did forget about Portable Ops. I thought you were going to talk abouy Ghost Babel and got kind of excited
Sokolov just needs to be a body double or a young decoy octopus at this point.
I remember having all my soldiers shot and killed. I was depressed after that.
I think the best way to fix the recruitment issue isnt a straight soldier extracted screen. What you need is a failure rate. Give multiple options for extraction and corresponding chances of success.
100%
Take your time and drag the soldier to the truck. Works every time. The risk of getting caught the old way still exist.
50-75%
Drag them to prearranged locations then call for extraction. A soldier needs to infiltrate and extract so its never 100%. In fact it starts at 50% success rate but do things in mission like diable security measure such as cameras and personnel will increase the chances.
30-50%
Much like 50-75% youre calling for an extraction and can increase thr success rate with in mission activities.

As a metal gear fan , my opinion is portable ops is optional story meaning it can be both cannon or non cannon according to player choice
As a kid I played Portable Ops a ton, was one of my all time favorite PSP games at the time. I even bought Portable Ops + thinking it was a sequel and unaware it was a multiplayer focused game.

Mgs 1 and 2 remake should be a package, remake both for one release, they are both small and would be good as a package
I think what you are talking about at 1:32 would be a Reimagining as it would likely need to add new areas and/or story.
