This is the base version for Toyota in this countries. I am sure Yaris hatchback 1.3L will sell well in India atleast.

That gearbox is a complete put off!!! Ur like revving to 6k with a big smile nd then it shifts nd the revs completely die down, its too slow to shift!!! Same with downshifts, u approaching a corner nd jus can't get a lower gear quick enough. It completely takes way from that racy feeling. Engine is a gem though. Recently test drove a turbo kiger, the cvt on that is much much more fun.
Toyota slowling getting some shame and changing the exterior but still shameless enough to copy interiors…it might be the best seller worldwide but they made the joke of themselves and thus unable to capture one of the biggest car markets in the world 😂

I am also fine to drive a sedan or SUV petrol automatic provided it gives me 15-16 kmpl in heavy traffic of city. I need a high end car/SUV, around 25-28 Lakhs, mostly driven by driver. A recliner seat at the back would be a delight.

That’s bcoz our taxation is way higher then other countries, that’s the reason manufacturers are hesitant to get all features and other models in India. FYI , if you buy a car which is sub 4 meter then overall taxes are 29%* + road tax and insurance separate and if you buy car bigger than 4 meter so taxes will be 45%* + road tax and insurance separate. So technically you will end up paying double amount of actual car value.
