- Most famously played by Tony Rice but written by his good friend Norman Blake, this version is somewhere in the middle of their versions, though I did try to copy Tony's picking as close as I (a mere mortal) could.
This was a great chance to test out my newest mic, the "Edwina" from @Eartrumpetlabs. I recorded into a Zoom h5 and mixed in a small amount of audio from the stereo mics.
Talent is talent. You my young friend have it! TT
Thanks for the kind words Tim!
VERY NICE JOB!
Never get tired of hearing this song and you did an amazing job my friend

Sounding good, brother! Crispy clean picking!
Thanks for the kind words, it's been a long process to get it somewhat clean...

Crazy good pickin! Not many come as close as your version. Awesome!
Thanks Jimmy!
One of my all time favorites that you've done - the singing and the picking 😽🎉😊
Man what a smooth cover. Very nice. Like the master Tony!

A1.What more can one say!
Bravo
Ufff, great!
Well done. It's a dream of mine to be able to play this. I gave it a shot about a year ago, but the rhythm and timing of the intro breaks my brain. I'll need to try again soon.
Mine too!..... the brain bit I mean!
I've been working on this too and so far the thing that's helped most today is listening to the intro coming from the verse/chorus, your brain has context for what beat you're on and you can hold on to it longer, and then you can start to hear the melodies in it more clearly and how they're related to the melody of the verses, and then every time I heard it more clearly, my playing got better instantly because I was actually playing something from my ear and not just a series of notes. this is on top of the technical work of course 😅
Ole’ TR would be proud, man. Great cover!
Thanks for the kind words!
Real nice job!
Thanks David!
Nothing wrong with that. Eastman is sounding pretty good too!

tes doigts dansent sur le manche de ta guitare avec une tel legerté beau avoir et entendre👋👋👋👋
I would rank this right up there with Tony Rice. Very well done indeed!
High praise, thanks Wade!
Is that Tony Eldridge? Sounds great mate
I do take some inspiration from Chris version ;) thanks for listening!
Nice playing!
Thanks!
Give you 5* from Germany for this performens
Thanks neighbor! (I live in The Netherlands)
Awesome performance! How are you capturing the audio? Surely you're using more than just the single mic shown on the video. Guitar recording sounds really nice! Thanks for the performance and the video!
Thank you!
It’s 80% the single ear trumpet mic, 20% audio blended in from the Zoom H4n mics which are out of frame under the guitar.
What guitars are you rolling with? Im a big fan of Eastman
This one is the E1SS-LTD, with an Adirondack Spruce top
Clean picking! Sounds great - how's that Eastman been for you?
Hey Randall, I think for the price you can't beat them, though nothing can match the sound of a real Martin! But this one has done me well :)
Nice! Cross picking could use a wee bit of work but it sounds great my man! Next, I dare you to try the Blu-ray version! He plays a bit faster, and he hits that open b string twice super fast and smooth... I prefer the blu ray version myself.
