I've been so looking forward to a reaction to this, he's a storming guitarist, true he doesn't always get a chance to show off and he's too humble to want to try, but there are a couple of tracks that show of his chops, this being one of the most majestic. I love the swell as it builds into the final part of the solo and the smooth exit into that incredible choir moment with "It's all going away"

Devin *can* shred, he just finds it boring. He says that there’s a million people that can shred so he just likes to focus on what he feels and what makes him happy and interested. So it’s these big elaborate amazingly written and produced orchestras and choirs etc. He’s so true to himself even though he doesn’t make much money even though he could if he did the basic music by numbers commercial stuff.

My first 2 Dev intros had no lead/solos. A guy in the comments turned me on to Deep Peace - and I turn people on to Failure live at Plovdiv as well. Powerful song with a full length lead - another solo that drops into the orchestra like an orgasm.

Pink Floyd has been my first musical love, have been an hardcore fan for 20 years.
I have seen Gilmour and Wright live in 2006.
About the same time I fell in love with DT.
Together, they make 99% of my adult life's soundtrack. And I agree with you.
Gilmour is a bluesman, Devin is a classical guitarist. Different colours, but something in common: both are extremely skilled, but aren't driven by showcasing it.
They both play and sing with their soul and convey emotions like no others.
Who would've thought the guy who toured with Steve Vai was a great guitarist in his own right . . .

Great song! It's a shame the set up is so big, you don't really see it's an Roman amphitheatre. To me, that's a big part of the atmosphere.
