I think Devin has brought more smiles to my face than any other musician before. And it seems like he does that with plenty of others, too.

Hi Wave. Yes it was me who requested Devin before performing Kingdom. Thanks for getting to my request so quickly, I am pleased you enjoyed it !

Was lovely watching this with you. And yes, that's Devin for you - whether you put him in front of a mic with just an acoustic guitar, or you give him a whole orchestra, he'll make it work :)

Guitar is a Framus Stormbender. It's his signature model.
The guitar on this is just beautiful. The intro when it takes off with the g minor always makes my eyes wet.

He is also using a Kiesel for the ambient stuff nowadays.

Look at "Mooer Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend". There are videos, where he explains the development of the pedal. It's a testament/statement to his music style.
I have it on my board, by the way.

DEVIN!!!!! My favorite metal artist by a country mile!!!! Great great person, also. The man is a genius (I mean that quite literally).... knows every note everybody is playing in his group, produces all his own stuff (with excellent qualified engineers, of course), and is easily one of the greatest and most versatile and powerful vocalists in the past 40 years. That's the most recent looking of the devin townsend model guitars, probably with his custom pickup models in it as well (he designed pickups with one of the big companies so that they can go from GREAT cleans to GREAT drives with a flick of a switch, rather than the limitations we normally all have with splitting hb pickups)....

He's been doing insane music stuff since the late 80s when Steve Vai formed a band with him!

You mentioned the strange delay. Devin tends to stack delay and reverb effects. Example would be a delay that runs into a reverb set to half volume of the signal, that then feeds into a separate delay with a longer decay set to half the volume of that. You end up with a thick, spacey as hell tone. Problem is if you hit a bad note it bleeds through the next half bar haha

Framus makes Devin's guitars. That is the Stormbender.

think about the counting in that guitar/cymbal break... he changes time signatures basically every measure, and he does that ALL the time in his songs.... and it has to be perfect because it's a duet with cymbal....

Wild to think this was off his first solo album. Dude was under 20 years old when he first wrote some of these songs. The original compositions were a bit simpler and not amazingly well mastered, but it's a testament to his early writings that many evolved into this with the benefit of experience.
It's pretty absurd, but I highly recommend something off one of his Ziltoid projects: March of the Poozers. A bit of space opera for ya.

This is from Terria - he recorded Infinity and Biomech (as Ocean Machine), which were also solo efforts, before Terria. All amazing.

Why Wave Potter hasn't yet recorded his reaction to Yoyoka's "Getting In Tune" cover is beyond me. This is an absolutely amazing cover.

That's definitely a custom-built guitar. I don't know what company made it for him, but they must have some sort of deal working with him because from what I can tell it seems like the same company has made all his different guitars which are each one of a kind.
A custom guitar like that would've cost him at least $4-6k. Probably quite a bit more...

I think it's Framus, but don't quote me on that.

@@alecoram7874 You got it right. That was the prototype for his signature Framus guitar. Final version is called Stormbender, handbuilt at their location in Germany for about 6k. There is a black import version thats a third of the price but doesn't have LEDs. Got to play one recently, extremely comfortable and sounds great

It would be better if you listen to the whole song and then talk.
