it could entirely be my age, having been in fandoms and seeing the ever evolving internet space. I recall the older edition of pro-shipping was the general live and let live type of creation. So long as everything is properly tagged and the ability to block. mute and ignore is available for people to curate their media/internet intake to their personal preferences, then it's fine to be. However, I do agree that when it comes to fandoms generally targeted to younger audiences (I wouldn't say Undertale is targeted to younger audiences/kids specifically...) should have a more heavy moderation compared to more adult oriented fandoms. I wonder if lot of these issues really stem from the fact that there aren't segregated spaces anymore. Having everyone jammed together on like 2-3 different websites def doesn't help with moderating or curating... It's hard to have a space that can curate to both audiences without some accidental overlap. Much like content warnings, having specific spaces acts as a gate to remind the people that if they chose to engage with the content/media in question, they are fully responsible for their own consumption and reactions to such media/content.
I think as long as the content is clearly marked correctly so that it can be blocked by those who don't want to see it, then its fine. Its not the artist's or fandom as a whole's responsibility to cater to children. Its the responsibility of the parents to monitor what their children are looking at and teach their kids how to block out content that they dont like (after initially blocking out any inappropriate content) This is coming from a guy who draws gore and writes messed up stuff for a living. Its not my responsibility if a kid gets grossed out by my Clearly Warned For Gore. I mark my content correctly and thats all that needs to be done on my end. Parents should. yknow. Actually Parent their kids instead of relying on the internet to parent their kids. or optionally we can boot the kids outta fandom and keep em out, i'd be down for that too

Please try to find videos about that specific topic if you're interested in it/how to help further with a better outcome in your personal life rather than getting a bit too upsetti spaghetti at small creators./lh
