Himself11 is a Challenger ADC main who decided he was done with being top 100 in Soloq and wanted to invent a new pick all his own. So he took his main - Ashe - to top lane.
This is his story + an analysis of if this pick is actually good?

I did the same when playing ezreal on season 3, someone told me to refund him cause I sucked and I did.... Now I have all champs of course but I think its funny what time does to us after playing so long that it simply about practicing

This guy has to have really good movment.
I have a friend who used to play Kog'Maw top because he is good at shredding tanks and thus would win the lane against them in theory.
In practice, he almost always fed really hard and was completly useless through the whole game.
But Ashe has the passive slow, thats why he didnt need as much movement as if he would be playing kogmaw, even though he probably has it, he is challenger after all

@@facu8405 Nah, you do have slow, sure, but Darius has Ghost, and most other carries on top got shit ton of gap closers. Your slow is ONLY tool you have, which is most effective when you're chasing them down after they start running away from the bad trade, but you have to have insane movement to consistently play at the max of your range, poking them down while never allowing them to engage onto you. Don't forget, it's challengers he's playing against, not some people who don't know limits of their champions. Simply put, he needs to know what enemy champs are capable of doing, and he perfectly knows his own champion, but gets the edge over similarly skilled opponent because of off meta pick so they don't know his limits.
Still though, one mistake and he dies, slows or not.
Something people never take in point is the champion that make them useless
For example theres champion that just heals away or with their ult you fuck up already even if you dodge hard or the fact the junglers help them when you win them one time and now the jungler is just againts you
@@MrMrtvozornik I'd imagine its not as punishing as Kog though, since you're guaranteed to hit your abilities in lane, and you aren't as reliant on three items + lvl 6 to do any meaningful damage. I'd also guess he almost always rushes tier 2 boots so he's always faster than his laning opponent.
I've played with this guy in solo queue a lot, he's chill to play with and regardless of what just happened he never tilts, good guy!

This build is, IMO, much more on the "support style" toplaner than an actual ranged toplaner such as vayne or quinn(or even teemo). Because, as stated, it can easily set up ganks with the slow and has the second best ability to provide vision in the game just behind TF ult. Furthermore, having a low CDR build helps a lot at team fights, same as a toplaner support would do.
But the thing is, unlike Vayne or Quinn, many toplaners can simply counter ashe by building deadmans and swifties, if they survive the early game(which they should) rendering you completely useless even if they went with the wrong runes, as nobody expects ashe top. In sum, this build mainly focuses on countering low mobility tanks/bruisers who are heavily dependent on a certain item to function such as Garen/Mundo/Sion.

I noticed that none of the game play showed high mobility champs such as riven or Camille and even though the video addresses it, he never answers the question
In lane you are correct, but afterwards she is a carry just like the ones you mentioned - if not better since they are all solo target damage where as ashe can hit many.
@@duckymomo7935 You nullify mobile laners using good positioning + poke. If the enemy camille is 500hp and you are near tower you cannot die. That is why he doesnt int against them.
Of course she is insane vs immobile champs, but its not instant loss vs others since he is so good

Camille doesn't have that much burst, even if she does have a gapcloser she can't really 100-0 early on, and especially not when she got poked repeatedly early on, its similar to her Teemo matchup. Riven loses a lot of her damage if she's forced to blow her entire kit to gap close, and if its frozen near the tower she can't really kill the Ashe, its just about spacing and wave management. That's why the guy bans Irelia

@@Adam-bc2ov the only reason I lose to Camille is not being patient against her engage and not space out enough, not because I play Ashe. Same thing happens with Sion or whatever. Besides Camile is broken

The great heal barrier ashe
So I actually do this with Ashe MID lane instead of top, doing a CDR / Lethality build. allowing me to pressure the map with my arrows from mid and my vision to track the enemy jungler for bot laners and top laners. i take TP over ghost though as i like doing the snipe / tp trick a lot. I think Ashe mid is actually pretty solid because you can gank without leaving lane and get your top or bot fed while still pressuring the mid to stay and keeping tabs on the jungler.

I've been playing Ashe mid whenever I can. Comet keystone, Muramana into Duskblade. From there I usually end up with either a BC or anti-heal or shield buster. My entire goal is to be as annoying as possible for the enemy team. It seems to work, they're always targeting me in team fights. I have ~70% WR on it, usually matched against Silvers and Golds (I'm unranked).
It doesn't feel as fun anymore when your offmeta build becomes the new meta, also getting called a copycat is VERY annoying

This guy knows his shit, mashiro shina is the best female design i've ever seen in japanimation. And sakurasou na pet no kanojo is one of the best slice of life/romance anime/manga.

This guy is my spirit animal. Late 2020 I was playing a bit of Ashe top, but now I’m a full AD Jhin main who uses Duskblade as a Mythic. When Summonors Spellbook andURF was out, I tried running Duskblade Ashe as well. All I can say is I can tell me and this guy share very similar sensibilities in our build ideas and playstyles, and I love it. This the type of guy I’d get along very well with playing league
Glad he found the one pick he likes. I had a few actually kogmaw, lucian and twitch because I like playing champs that have high risk high reward. But they've been nerfed/changed so much that I don't play them anymore. Kog had his attackspeed build changed, lucian had his voice changed because of senna and twitch is unplayable as an ADC because of lethal tempo change.
I remember talking to Himself about this pick as well. Super chill dude

I don't know, I'm having a hard time imagining good matchups here. Ignoring Irelia and Malph that he bans/dodges, I'm thinking Nasus W, I'm thinking dive champions(specially Camille, how do you play into E Ult). A lot of tops also go ghost now(Darius Trynda for example), making your slows useless in an all-in. Jax for example, with apoint and click Q that is almost the same range as your autos, plus counterstrike to deny most of your damage.
I can see you kiting a Poppy or an Ornn, but other than that, not too sure. Would be interested to see how this player manages those other matchups.
Almost as if good and bad match ups exist. I presume in the bad ones off screen gaming with W spam. You have high auto range and slows and a stun to stall and run away and ghost.
Phase rush can be a good answer to deal with them in lane phase
Guy's good, experienced and knows his matchups. Playing 800 games in one season teaches alot, plus all those years he mained ashe.
Soo... a few things.
Nasus W takes time to ramp up, during which the Ashe can apply her own slows and just walk away. Or she can W before he's even in range, and walk away. On top of that, if she really feels the need to hard counter it, Boots of Swiftness exist.
Against Camille things get scary after hitting level 6, but until then Camille burns flash or dies if she tries to E into Ashe on her side of the lane. Good wave management will get the Ashe kills against an overconfident Camille pre-6, and will keep her alive post-6 (barring really well-executed dives). The onus is definitely still on the Camille to really play the dive perfectly though, since Camille's damage isn't front-loaded enough to force Ashe to ult immediately. Meaning there are opportunities for mindgames, and an Ashe arrow to the face under tower is still... an Ashe arrow to the face under tower. Probably not getting out alive.
Regarding other tops with Ghost, since Ashe herself is also running the sum, and it doesn't give slow resistance or anything, the slows are far from useless. On the contrary, Ghost will be practically useless against Ashe's slows.
Jax is a huge problem, and the first point I entirely agree on. If he makes correct usage of control wards, bushes, Q range (which is actually 100 units *further* than Ashe autos), and counterattack's full duration plus stun. After picking up Sheen, he's likely to kill her as long as he has hands.
Poppy and Ornn actually strike me as more dangerous opponents for Ashe than Nasus, Darius, or Camille, as they can eat volley after volley of arrows while following a normal build path, and follow up a gank perfectly. At a certain point, they might be able to eat an R to the face during a tower dive and do just fine after, removing any illusion of safety the towers might have provided.

I believe ghosting to lane is good too. Kind of reminds me of baus sion gameplay and he prioritizes minions over everything. The cd for ghost is fairly short too.

As someone who used to main bruiser Blitz and now plays mostly AP Ashe/Thresh Top since 2018, I love stories about people who just pick their own off-meta pick and go with it.
Everytime I try these cheese builds in these videos, I always end up feeding
I did try quinn support(Tank build) and suprisingly it works if u dont get toxic sh*t adc that just pointing u constantly then die and will start to runing it Down.

I was looking for somebody who knew about hotshotgg playing this years ago. He inspired to me to play this pick as well and I never died faster.
I've been having a lot of fun with this honestly. I only pick it if the enemy team doesn't have an irelia or malphite, and I build tank with things like Titanic Hydra but it's dumb and you're never is vulnerable to gangs or as killable as the enemy thinks you are 😅
Huge I played Ashe top last year in high elo (silver at the time) too
I've often wondered why more people haven't tried Ashe mid. I understand that's normally where assassins are, sure, but it hasn't stopped people from taking other immobile champions mid and Ashe's kit seems pretty well designed for a mid-lane 'scouting' role. The arrows have to travel half the distance they would from bot in most cases and the vision control would also benefit from the shorter distance to any major objectives.
i actually been doing this this season for those exact reasons, her CDR / Lethality build can give me like 20 second arrows to jsut spam before durring and after fights while also keeping pressure both in lane and around the map without leaving lane while mid. and she is pretty safe in the shorter lane so i rarley have to over extend.

tho i was thinking what if you were to build *trinity force* since it gives ability haste for more poke and utility and movement speed for kiting
I remember one of my first games in league, this was Season 2, I had no idea what a MOBA was, so I played it like an MMO because it looked like one, picked Ashe as my "Main" champion, because cmon who doesn't wanna be a Frost Archer, went on this game with a guy that was a slight higher level so he had smite, he went jungle and I had no idea wtf was jungle, I was top, so of course, I picked Ashe, me vs Garen and Warwick in the top lane, and to this day is still one of the biggest pummeling I've ever given to an enemy team.

As a fellow ashe top enjoyer for a few seasons it can actually be one of the most disgustingly annoying picks vs melee champs since you can just run them down at lvl 1 and a lot of people have never played the match up so they just let you do it. Even if you run it down you can still just spam your ult on cooldown cross map and once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad to shoot to bot lane and actually land it.
I tried this randomly about two weeks ago. Now I feel like I'm a genius. I went up against a jax and still didn't lose lane.

If anyone else wants to try a weird build that just might confuse your enemies, play MS Xayah and bounce between lanes to root people by spamming Q and E. Ive only played about 10 normal games with this strat, but i stopped an Irelia from feeding early on and it won us the game.

For a good player like him, he can definitely make it work. But for anybody wanting to try it, I'd recommend just doing Ashe support. It is very useful, fun, and you are still legit strong. I've out damaged my adc at times.

A build like this used to exist with the old glacial augment + GLP + Spookyghosts...was absolutely insane on velkoz as you'd just perma auto the enemy nasus/darius and they could never touch you, then you of course burst them down and massively snowball till you hit raidboss status
