    Amy, I enjoy your high quality fun videos, your enthusiasm is contagious. Riding a Pinarello must be nice. At age 69 I am still doing 100 milers but on an entry level mountain bike and about 90 minutes slower than you. I know that you are a highly skilled rider, please be careful in intersections and especially when traveling over metal surfaces when your tires (tyres) are wet. My wife and I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and love your videos even though we don’t always understand what you are saying. Please be safe!

      Hey! I am in Pittsburgh too (originally from Reading, UK) and you are brave to be riding around the city....Pittsburgh is bloody dangerous!

    • @leomccarthy2999
      @leomccarthy2999 9 месяцев назад +1

      Ben, yes it is very dangerous. In 2014 I was struck by a car breaking my left arm in half requiring surgery. I also had a concussion and other injuries. Last year my neighbor was riding with me and his hat blew off while going down a hill at 30 MPH. He turned to look for it and became unstable crashing into the pavement. He always refused to wear a helmet. He was 79 years old and received multiple injuries. He was treated at Allegheny General Hospital and was put on a ventilator. He died after 22 days. So, I primarily ride on trails like the Three Rivers Heritage Trail or the Great Allegheny Passage, the Panhandle Trail, Montour Trail and rail trails in neighboring states. I ride about 3000 miles a season, as of yesterday at I am at 627. I escort groups of U.S. military veterans every month from April to October every year as well always on safe trails.
      Thanks so much for the email.

    Glad to have 165mm cranks on my bike. Spinning is a little easier, it's minimized hip impingement at top of the pedal stroke, and it's easier to keep a lower frontal position.

    You make a great team you and Kyle, my stomach goes when Kyle whips off down them hills, that takes guts to do, the ride looked so nice too, I wish I could cycle the distance you both do without feeling nauseous and stomach pain, you both made me laugh when you was deciding who was carrying the jacket and your trying to bribe Kyle with food 🤣 but that’s what it’s all about great content we all love to watch 😊😊

  • @malcontent_1

    When I switched to 165mm cranks I ended up having to raise my saddle and lower the front end (both just slightly) to adapt my position.

    Hi Amy, great video as usual. I really admire your gutsy enthusiasm. However, I tense slightly every time you ride over a cattle grid at speed. Last year I was riding through the Forest of Bowland and I rattled across a cattle grid at a frightening rate of knots. My rear wheel punctured and shredded. It was the end of my ride and I had to walk for miles, across the windswept moors to reach a landline because there was no mobile phone signal. Anyway, I made it, and got a cab, but the entire experience was horrible. Now, when I ride over a cattle grid, I am a tad more careful. Be safe you're not in a race!

    Before I had my e bike I always took on the headwinds on the way out to have the wind at my back on the way home, now I do it the opposite way most of the time😂I had pretty much the same conditions for my ride today so I made the most of it with 106.7 miles and 7396ft of climbing! My ride was very similar to yours😉Days like this are so good for lifting your spirits👍I think your spirits were stratospheric on that one, amazing ride by you both😊

    Did you say you are running 165mm cranks, and that that is the correct size for the bike???? NOT SO SURE! There seems to be a fad going on at the moment about crank length, and no doubt the bods at Pinnerello have filled you up with all the stats and black magic. I think you are riding too small a crank for your size of bike and your leg length. This probably why you are finding it harder to keep up with Kyle. You will probably have noticed that the smaller crank tends to throw your weight forward and forces you lower over your bars. You'll also have noticed that you feel there just isn't enough pedal platform to stand on and stabilise you, when you are out of the saddle. Yes it will help you spin, and you will find that you are on your pedals a lot quicker with mire response when you come out of slow junctions, BUT, efficiently power output is about more than spinning. YOU NEED TO BE ON 170MM..
