Hi Amy. Your drive train sounds a little rough. Have you checked your chain lately? Might be getting a little stretched? Could just be the audio recording but maybe check anyway. 😁
Step one: get a new coach.. why would anyone suggest doing a ramp test the day after 100 mile ride? Step 2: learn to understand and respect rest days, jeez Louis girl.. Step 3: fueling is important, get your meals/hydration down pat.. Seriously, if you're gonna ride this insane amount of miles, figure out your food intake, it all about timing..Matt should know this stuff I'm guessing, if not get a dietitian for real, no more messing about girl!😉✌️
No wasn’t my coaches idea! It was me, I was meant to do it free following day after rest but I wanted to do an outdoor long ride the best day before icy weather 😅

You knew you were tired before you started and you know why. But you had a go and that is what you will have to do. Kyle spot on.
Out of the saddle sometimes will help with Max efforts
Look 210 W /60 kg wightt is 3.5 W/kg which is above average for a woman of your age!
Rest days are where the improvements happen 😊

The key to the FTP test is keeping your cadence high.

You got this Amy, and you tell those monkey mind thoughts to shove off when they pop in to test you. You got this mate. Hey Amy, I am certain you need a better warm up to do your best effort on a test like this. I would do at least a 20 minute warm up, mostly zone 2, with some short ramps up to threshold to activate your lactate clearing. then do 5 minutes of Z2 to recover, then start the test.

That wpk is so good Amy, especially after a long ride the day before. Its not all about numbers but those numbers are crazy good 👍
Plenty of talk about rest , but the task you are setting yourself, it will be about training tired legs. When it warms up maybe knock out a few back to back 300 ks . And how come you ain’t got your out bike attached to the turbo ?..
Both efforts were really good, ur partner Kyle gave u some really good encouragement with regards your watts per kilo, 4 plus watts per kilo is brill. The fact you always want to do better is a positive aswell. Rouvy is brill 2, im injured at the mo, but cant wait to get back on the bike. I stumbled across ur channel and have watched quite a bit while been off work, its helped me stay positive, so nice one 👍

Phew! So glad you ended up in a better place. Sometimes you need to be your own coach, coaches are supportive and super positive, as individuals, we are negative and hyper-critical, So think like a coach! Also, have a rest day before any test.
I’m saving my pennies for an indoor trainer for my bike. What brand do you use? When I finally get it I’ll be using your code for Rouvy. Hopefully before winter is over. Until then I’ve got my elliptical.
The mic sound quality is really good. Rouvy will update the software to say, "Put the fan on, now."

Buy a smart plug and plug your fan into it then connect to an Alexa Alex ! Turn the fan on no need to get off then 😂

Dont be hard on yourself Amy you should have at least two to three day easy days before attempting an FTP ramp test so your fresh. I find the ramp test difficult if your not used to high intensity, next time try a real FTP test with your endurance you should do way better. Quick note the Neo is auto calibrating so it should be accurate.
You are going to carrying some fatigue over from your long ride. I’ve found I can get a better result on the 20 minute test rather than the ramp test, you might be the same. Garmin also have a ramp like FTP test which is not a test to failure but it does require a heart rate strap.
Well done 💪 Your watts to kg is around 4.2. That puts you in the top 1% of Trainer Road female athletes. These are serious cyclists. Let that sink in. Imagine how much stronger you'll be following some more structured training. Exciting!
Can we please just talk FTP as a raw number you are way too close to a fat old man on that. Let’s just move quietly on from Watts/kilo to save me a lot of embarrassment! You know what will make or break your goals this summer and it ain’t raw power. You have got it gal. Now obviously I have had too much red wine to be throwing praise like this around. Don’t worry normal service will be resumed once I sober up….😂
195W is higher than almost 99% of the world's population! Congratulations! Kyle is right. It's the Watts/Kg that counts. I'm a 3.3Watts per Kg and that's pretty good for me. Most people struggle to get 1 watt per Kg.
Don't be standing up on an FTP test Amy. Keep seated 👍🏻
Why?
FTP or function threshold power is the power you can functionally hold for one hour. When we ride we sit, we dont stand. Standing during the test it would give an incutate figure which we could realistically hold for an hour and therefore the training zones would be inaccurate. @MattyBrad .
i find the 5 minute warm up in the Rouvy ramp test is not enough, especially as an endurance focused rider. 30 minute spin before hand normally much better!

You said it yourself. It's whatever you can achieve out on the road that counts. You're a killer on the road. I've thrown the heart rate belt/cadence sensor and power meter in the trash. After that, I got the joy back and got stronger.

You're not supposed to stand up, why would you do a FTP test if you're going to stand up. Try again after ~3 days of rest and don't stand up, good luck!
Why not stand up? The point is to find your threshold.
@@MattyBradBecause it could skew the results leading to an inaccurate ftp, which doesn’t help with workouts going forward. And it could be counterproductive as it generally takes more effort out of the saddle and could increase fatigue earlier than if you stayed seated. The test is meant to be a steady, controlled effort to exhaustion.
But she was clearly going to come to a complete stand still if she didn't.

FTP means very little other than setting your zones. Your aim now is to boost your endurance so you can ride for 30 days for this challenge. Recovery is vital as that's when your fitness grows.

Different power system when you stand, same with low cadence. Perhaps a check list before you start might be appropriate 😅
Why is it different?
Really listen to your body Amy when it is telling you it is fatigued. Work with your body not against it and it will reward you once recovered. Your coach nailed it in mental approach above everything. Your mind is pointing in the right direction. Now is the time to learn to improve for summer success. You have got this.
Don't worry you did a 100 miler the day before ....a different day will make a difference...
