Check out Will Ramos one take vocal playthrough of this song now that you've heard it once. Also Will Ramos one take cover of Sleep Token - Hypnosis if you want to hear more and a different style of his vocals.
(Their song Pain Remains I is absolutley fantastic and a lot different from this I'd say)
Check out more from them, they will grow on you, they are brilliant!

Even though to you the vocals are a "distant third" as you put it, I recommend watching the one take vocal, by Will Ramos, of this. It addresses a lot of the things you mentioned. They are higher in the mix, it's easier to understand the lyrics, no layers, imo even crazier switches between low and high. Also because I think you liked Mikael's live demon more in Deliverance too.

Now imagine this same band making a death core ballad, that actually brings in heart felt emotions. Cause they did and I don’t now how they pulled it off. Pain Remains part 1 Dancing Like Flames. The video definitely helps fill in some of the emotions but even on it’s own, it’s there. Full album do to drop on Oct 14th. So hyped for this album. The lead singer Will Ramos is this bubbly fun going energetic sweetheart who is basically the gnarliest voice in death core and I’m here for it.

As a musician of a wide range of genres, this song is VERY effective in conveying the feeling it intends to (anger, fear, intensity) because of the incredible skillset of the band and the genre itself. The mixing is not about the musicians, it's more impressionistic. The instrumental itself is huge and powerful as intended. Combine this with the otherworldly vocals and you get the style
I never really got into extreme metal until my 20s and i was DEEP into metal in my teenage years playing guitar, touring the states, etc. It is something that won't click with you until a certain song can get you into that feeling

Saw these guys live in about two months ago in Stockholm, Sweden. I am an F kinda, 51 to be exact and I am pretty old school with Iron Maiden as my clear no 1 since early 80s, Queensryche, Type O, Def Leppard, the great German stuff from that time, Metallica and what is the world without the early stuff from Mötley Crue!? Back to the Lorna Shore show in Stockholm Sweden....That night was f´ing different from all the great stuff I ever say live...I mean it wasn´t even close to the best but still, it was so effin awesome!
I remember the first time I ever listened to LS, of course it was the Pain Remains Part I, I remember thet music vidoe totally sucked me in. I was so blown away with how damn hard and fast the music was but also how delicate and beautiful the story and the soft parts were. I guess a bunch of you LS fans can relate to that.
There more I listened the more hooked I got, there are some talented musicians in Lorna Shore and the charismatic singer, Will Ramos!!

They made this song almost incomprehensible, for one, to show case how just loud and heavy they can be if they so choose, and two, to showcase their new vocalist to show his dynamics. This is probably their heaviest song. I mean all of their songs are heavy but this one pushed their boundaries a bit on shear violence and chaos of the music.

Lorna Shore isn't exactly your typical deathcore sound. They have a strong influence from black metal, so are sometimes described as blackened deathcore.
But, with their increasing use of symphonic / choral elements, and their inclusion of instrumental melody beneath and between the vocals, and with their exploration of the boundaries of the possible, they are most accurately described as progressive, symphonic, blackened melodeathcore.😁
So almost everyone just calls them Lorna Shore.

I think you might like Tallah. I was hesitant to recommend them before because of the harsh vocals, but they have referred to themselves as nu-core. It's a mix of heavy nu-metal influence with 'core' breakdowns. Overconfidence is the best song to start with.

Will really have weird larynx, and Charismatic Voice has a video of putting camera down Will's throat for a research as there are too little researches made on metal vocals. It's available on RUclips. You can watch it. Even metal vocalists aren't very much aware of how do they produce sounds in a consistent manner which is impressive, considering how they managed to gain control over their vocals and most of them are also self-taught after years of torturing voice box 😅 Unfortunately, it's somewhat epidemic in the metal community due to a lack of researches which creates a lack of knowledge but they never give up. I'm glad Charismatic Voice choose Will as a subject. Even researchers were shocked to see his throat and were excited to study it.

It's very easy for one to just write them off as ridiculous noise. While I don't hate this, I'm not a deathcore fan. I like death metal and some grindcore, but I can't get into deathcore as much as I try. I don't mind the vocals, I like the symphonic elements too, but the over emphasis on breakdowns I'm not a fan of. It becomes monotonous (and boring) to me.

So those demon noises are high screams, gutteral growls and tunnel throat screams. It’s really all badt on enunciation and where you place your tounge in your mouth. Also having knowledge of vocal distortion helps

Cat Woman! You need to give the Swedish band Orbit Culture a shot. Why not start off with the latest release, "While We Serve"

The Pain Remains 1: Dancing Like Flames by them is the first deathcore song that ever made me tear up. Check that out. 😉

The past decade has hit me hard but especially this past year. Listening to Chevelle (family system, still running, ouija board etc)actually had helped me get through a huge portion of it then I discovered To the hellfire music video for the first time as well as deathcore and I was hooked. I listen to them everyday and now other death core bands, angel maker, thy art is murder, make them suffer. So yes newbie and hooked from the get go. Also you should have reacted/watched the music video, its an experience!!! If you haven't yet react to it for us please. you can blur it or whatever you have to do but please react to it. PS react to all their music videos and have their lyrics pulled up on the side for a better feel.

There are levels to guitarists Adam De Micco is much better than Synaster Gates (A7X). But both are in different genres of metal.
