Will you be doing a rebuild on a small engine? I'm getting my mower together and thinking it might need some freshening up inside. I've got valves adjusted and a new gasket under the cover there but it still doesn't run quite right.

      What is the engine doing?

@@TheDadBodWorkshop it sounds like it's missing- but not consistently and it's only a 1cyl so if it's missing then it should be much more noticeable. I'm looking into further insulating the plug wire but I've got an extra piece where the wire lays on the block as it rounds to go down to the plug.
It also has a very tinny sound at times. I'm starting to think the motor was salvage/ cobbled together so I'm likely going to limp it through the rest of the season and sell it as a project locally if I can't get it right. Cost of a new motor is right up there with a good, used condition mower.
I can try to upload a video later on if the weather cooperates.

Video attached- caution- might be loud. You can hear the 'miss' at high and low speeds but significantly more pronounced at full speed. Runs well otherwise- fresh oil, filters, valves adjusted (maybe an ounce tight), fuel filter doesn't appear to have any obstructions (though not replaced), and I only run 87 non ethanol.

@@kswyg001 have you looked at the governor linkage while it's running to see if it's surging? If the governor linkage is moving even a little bit it can cause what sounds like missing. Let me know!

@@TheDadBodWorkshop thanks for the reply buddy, I'll have to look for how to check the governor today and look for it tonight on the mower.
