Good to see you again! Interesting topic, I don't have a large rig like one you have, but good to know about new product. Looking forward to see more about the Rainbow mount. And I will check the AstroWorldTV channel.

Your telescope is in an upright position. Inverted suggests the telescope is pointing down toward the ground. What screwdriver did you use? How tight were the screws torqued down?

The screwdriver was just a standard hardened small tip, grip tight style and I only snug the screws, not excessively tight.

Great Review!! Would this unit work with the ZWO ASI Air Pro/Plus instead of the Eagle? do you know if the Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield with Cover Cap will fit with two D size plates installed (as you have)? Are you using the optional thermistor to control temps? I'm going to check you out on AstroWorldTV.

Well, seeing as the D plates are Celestron‘s, I would imagine their dew shield would fit with no problem. I am using the echo in conjunction with the eagle to control the dew heaters.
As far as the ASI air, I Believe it should work fine, my buddy Eric is a strict ASI air user and he has this dew heater for his 8 inch HD.

I'm so interested to see some data from that rig? Especially the tracking of your harmonic drive mount, curious to know how much data is kept/thrown out.

I’ve been told that these few rings cause odd diffraction patterns. Have you noticed this?

is it mandatory to use the celestron dew controller with this heater?

You shouldn’t have to, it is of course the best paring, however I use my eagle to control voltage output, works fine.

Excellent setup indeed... I've seen several of your last videoswhere you migrated from a clutch and worm-wormwheel based CGX-L mount to a much advanced technology Strainwave Harmonic Drive Rainbow Astro mount... Can't wait to see your reviews on your rig... One question though... I have no doubt that Rainbow RST mount is decades ahead of the CGX-L mount, but since the RST doesn't have RA and DEC clutches and therefore when you roll your wheely bar over different types of surfaces will not the harmonic drive get jerks with the weight of 45lbs EdgeHD 14"? On the other side people have strongly recommended to disengage the clutches in traditional Synta made mounts like the CGX-L or EQ6/EQ8 mounts when traveling or they're getting rolled on a dolly system... Is it probably the harmonic drive is strong enough to bear the stress/jerks from your heavy EdgeHD 14" even when it is in motion?

The RST300 has an internal break that prevents it from moving at all until electrical power is applied. The maximum payload for this harmonic drive mount is 110 pounds and it’s so unbelievably strong that I don’t worry about that scenario at all.
Great question though, thanks for commenting! 😁

It’s such a shame now days that most Americans can’t seem to string more than three words together without an err or an uhm coming between them
Sorry but I had to drop this review
