      actually its not on the wrong side... its on the side of the passenger... they didn't built this car for moms in mind but for any other people who sit in the back seat specially friends who can reach the button... I think its better up that high so kids won't reach it...

    You guys are very lucky! Also a nice honest review which shows what it's actually like to live with one of these cars. I am very excited about what Tesla are making right now, and what it means for the future of motoring. The build quality seems to be very high, the design is good and not fussy or over-styled, and they just seem to be very good all round cars. Once the prices start dropping, we are going to see a lot more of them around everywhere.

    One option for the baby mirror is to use a strap (belt) on the headrest to which you can then tie the mirror. The strap will provide something to which you can tie in landscape mode.

    Great video! But you mentioned you didn't like the switch on the door being on the right side rather then the left side, but remember you have another switch on the B-pillar (next to driver door). you technically don't need to walk over and hit that button on the actual door. You can use that button on the when you want to access the rear or walk around to over side of car.

  • @normn3ykf475
    @normn3ykf475 7 лет назад

    The reason the button is on the rear of the gull wing doors is likely to prevent a "pinch" accident where the front door is open and the gull wing doors are closing. Operateor gets squashed.

      Solar is in the works!
      We drive 2000 miles a month and our electricity bill is increased by about $40 a month for those 2000 miles!
      Our electricity cost is .07 cents/kwh
      National avg is .11 cents.
      The car gets 92 mpgE!

    Nice review I am waiting for mine to come,looks like you passed on the turbine wheels which were a must for me completes the look in my opinion was there a reason for not getting them?

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад +2

      I agree, the turbine looks great aesthetically, however they are were 22" wheels. The tread wears far more rapidly, the range is reduced by 15-20% and they are more prone to flats on rough roads. Those limitations, especially the reduced range were too much of a negative for our needs as we plan on often pushing the range on long roads trips away from superchargers.

    • @netgeek3010
      @netgeek3010 8 лет назад

      Well thought out purchase such as going with 6 seat VS 7 seat configuration. I think the design of the 7 seat creates a number of problems with space and the rear view mirror. I think they need to make the headrests removable in a future model at least for the 2nd row seats. I love the looks of the Model X but a lot of people don't like the front of it. I can understand the reasoning for the design of the face is the intense efforts in improving the energy efficiency. That being said great purchase have fun with the Model X.

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад

      +Philip Biron (PEB) I agree about the reclining head rests in the future. We are definitely happy about switching from 7 to 6 seats as it feels very open and comfortable. Aesthetics are subjective and I initially felt that way about the front as well. I'll tell you it look different and beautiful in person, but again that's subjective.
      The car performs, handles, and protects its occupants better than anything else on the road so I think those should be taken into consideration as well.

  • @omniblast
    @omniblast 8 лет назад

    Swap the two seats so that the mirror functions better with the driver. Otherwise if you angle it while he is sitting behind the driver it would be more difficult to see him and only he Passenger side front would b able to see him.
    The dual strollers that sit side to side is a little big and unwieldy for me and my wife. I have a Phil and Ted Double Verve or Vibe. Inline stroller which is more narrow and gets through most spaces easier.

    I think one thing that would really elevate this model x over any other family mid size crossover would be to use technology to keep parents from leaving their children in the car. There simply HAS to be a way we can avoid these needless deaths in the future.

    Have you encountered any issues with the Falcon doors in a parking garage, i.e. too close to ceiling?

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад +1

      No, none yet. The sensors are constantly refined through over the air updates and have a pretty good handle on surrounding obstacles at all times. The software updates are mind blowing. Take this for example, since the car is nearly silent the double compressors required to cool off all three rows are quite loud from the outside of the car. Tesla is sending an over the air update with a new algorithm to quiet down the compressors while still cooling the car efficiently. Where else can you get a car that learns and improves while parked in your garage!?

  • @Rico-Suave_
    @Rico-Suave_ 8 лет назад

    because the door is hinged half way into the roof this opening would be bad in the rain, rain blowing slightly sideways will come straight down into the car cabin. yes it would be good for sun protection.

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад

      It actually has a rain mode as well which alters the angle of the opening and shields from sideways rainfall. Seats are also hydrophobic. Yep....they've thought of everything.

      +Like Tesla man I was happy when I found out the price tag for this one....but it's so ugly...I might throw up.

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад

      +Brandon Nagbe looks are obviously subjective but I can tell you when I first saw it online during the reveal of the car last year I felt the same as you. It is gorgeous in person. It stands out from the crowd, it's unlike anything else out there and looks like it's from the future. We've had passerby's comment on multiple occasions "I love your spaceship!"
      The doors need only 11" of space to open up, less than a minivan or obviously a standard door. This is a game changer for people with young kids where 1. You can just put the kids up and into the car seat (think of a convertible with nothing above you) and 2. The large opening gives direct access to the 3rd row without having to move seats around.
      As far as a roll over, Tesla was unable to roll the car over in high speed side impact testing due to the 7,000 battery cells that live in the floor of the vehicle:
      The center of gravity makes the car drive like a sports car and you can corner at high speeds feeling like its on rails.

    you said this has the most cargo room for a 6 seater vehicle. you said it was 77 cubic inches but the chevy suburban is a 6 seater with 121 cubic inches of space. i can fit a whole piece of plywood in the back of a suburban. • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад

      Opens anywhere as sensors detect surrounding obstacles and open accordingly each time. As far as landing on the roof, I think you're SOL. There are manual releases to the doors but you're better off never flipping her in the first place. Tesla said that it failed to flip it in independent side impact testing as the center of gravity is extremely low (thanks to battery pack below) and makes it very difficult to flip. Of course people have managed ways to still flip it but it is less likely than other taller cars.

    whats the monthly payment and insurance on this vehicle? And why couldn't they get a normal set of doors on the rear. Those doors on that car scare the shit out of me in case of a rollover. Seems like if the crash was bad enough, they could detach

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад +2

      The monthly Payment and insurance are based on many different variables and are different for almost every single person out there. Renting, being a home owner, multiple cars, accidents, age, sex Ect all dictate your insurance rate. The X costs almost exactly the same to insure as our $30,000 Nissan Leaf.
      The monthly payment is dependent on your down payment amount and if you lease or buy. Tesla's Model X page has a calculator where you can plug your choices in and see the prices.

    What does your son think of the car? I know some car manufacturers when they design family cars (Chevy Traverse, Ford Flex, etc), they said that one thing that impacts the styling and features is that they want the kids to think it's cool. did you watch the video? go to 5:28, it's federal law in the United States to have the front hood of a car to be manually latched.

    • @NinjaWhoSaysNi
      @NinjaWhoSaysNi 8 лет назад

      +Steven Hoyer I heard that but I thought they might have a better answer than that, like a reasoning

    • @thebub716
      @thebub716 8 лет назад +1

      yeh...its the law lol, I mean I'm sure the United States Government have mandated it for a reason, have you tried google? (its kinda helpful)

      unless it's hinged backwards but ye makes sense

    • @RobertWhittaker1
      @RobertWhittaker1 8 лет назад +3

      I suspect it's because the laws are generic, ie it doesn't say "Unless there's no engine". This is why it has wing mirrors - us law says all cars must have 2 wing mirrors, Telsa wanted cameras and little screens (for improved visibility and aerodynamics). Sometimes laws stifle creativity.

    how do you get people in the back with both middle seats occupied with a child seat. you can't move up the seat since there's no more room right?

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад

      There is button that moves all the seats to the appropriate spots to allow easy entry to the back. The middle row seat actually moves forward and articulates downward simultaneously with the seat in front of it to open more room.

    • @ChriZTech
      @ChriZTech 8 лет назад

      +Like Tesla got it thanks but won't that crush the child seats especially if it's rear facing

    • @ItsKimJava

      +chriztrax You are correct. We use the forward facing car seat side to access the third row.

    Seems quite dangerous to fold the last two seats and put bagage above them. During a crash all items will roll around inside the cabin because there isn't any divider between luggage compartment and the passengers

    What made you get the white seats?

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  8 лет назад +3

      I initially had picked the black interior because of the kids, but Tesla announced that white performed better in stain resistant testing and I thought it was too cool and unique to turn down.
      The white is also a synthetic material.
      Average leather interiors of cars take 4-5 cow hides to produce.
      Keep in mind there's a massive climate impact from the livestock industry as well.
      Burning fuel to produce fertiliser to grow feed, to produce meat and to transport it - and clearing vegetation for grazing - produces 9 per cent of all emissions of carbon dioxide, the most common greenhouse gas. And their manure emit more than one third of emissions of another, methane, which warms the world 20 times faster than carbon dioxide.

      I heard it's nearly impossible for the car to flip over, because they put most of the weight at the bottom of the car (I think it's called low center of gravity but I'm not sure)
