Consider this, Quo have just finished the 2024 European tour and UK all 32 venues were sold out, a band that started in the early '60s and has toured every year from the beginning, what other band could match that.
Harri, you’ve got such a great ear 😍! Yes, that riff is very reminiscent of “Boogie Nights”. Both have a superlative dance beat 🌃📻 Love the funky groove- guitars and stellar! Fantastic submission Mars(?), and reaction, Harri, as always 🏌🏼♂️🪂
Thanks for a really nice review! There might be some closeness to Boogie Nights in this song, but another earlier Status Quo song can be recalled here, Accident Prone, its intro sounds to me like the riff to Don't Drive My Car in early development. Wondering whether there's some thinking the same.
This song was a double A-side single with, 'Lies', from 1980's, 'Just Supposin', album. The studio album version has 2 solos in it. A longer one toward the end of the song.
The original studio version wasn't anywhere near as funky, the bass line was a lot simpler. Good version , even though Rick's singing was below par during this period.
From ''Pictures of Matchstick Men'' to ''Don't Drive my Car'' , What a world of difference. I love it.
They sound the same :D :D

Tight song.
I love "Pictures of Matchstick Men" since I was 6 years old.
One of the favourites, any Quo songis great but this is top 5 in my book! :)

🇬🇧
It really does sound like "Boogie Nights" 😮 Still a great song . 🎼🎶👌
Hmmm, that solo at the end was shortened v studio version.
Don't drive my car came way before boogie nights ;)
Actually Boogie Nights predates this song by three years - are you confusing the song with the film?
@@trashandcheese3636 Yes just checked and you are correct :)

The studio version %100 better
