I wish SNL would put the writer’s name in the description. It was a real murders row in ‘89 and it’d be awesome to know who was responsible for what. ❤
Probably a good bet that it was Lovitz himself. On SNL the actors wanted to be in as many sketches as possible and in order to make that happen they wrote their own stuff...with themselves in the lead role of course. It was up to Lorne Michaels to decide what he thot would work. So if I'm betting, I'm betting Lovitz himself. Brilliant work tho, isn't it?
Lovitzesque is the ancient craft of making people laugh uncontrollably even with a straight face. He’s one of the most underrated comedic actors in world history.
He is a bit of an asshole irl, but yeah, I absolutely agree... He is Underrated af. He was ALWAYS one of my favorite members of that Era SNL. He had quite a few memorable sketches, but he did burn a few bridges whilst at SNL, just like Chevy Chase.
@ilduce5874 The guy starred on SNL and became very very famous for it and was critically praised by tons of fellow comics. Who exactly is underrating him?
Now I get it... I saw the office usa Season 4 finale Goodbye Toby . They say ACTING!!! AND IT MAKES SENSE.. 🎤🤣 ACTING... LOVITZ SCOTT, YES!!! GREAT INTERPRETATION
Wow this was an awesome skit! Great comedic chops by Glenn Close to fit in the script and keep up with Lovitz flawlessly. Obviously she's a brilliant actress but sometimes that doesn't transfer over well when a great actor hosts SNL.
@@akusakai2658 When somebody screwed up their lines repeatedly, somebody would finally yell "Acting!" like he did & everybody would crack up instead of being frustrated with them at having to hear their performance over & over.
Glenn Close, you have earnings of $50,000,000 worldwide. You were born March 19th, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut; right now you are 72 years, 8 months, and 15 days old.

murderer's row
Lovitz wrote it. The cast writes most of their own skits, they get help cleaning it up some from the writers, but the snl cast usually does it

I always wonder, when someone says another is "underrated," who does all this under-rating?
Who underrated him?
Who: His high School drama teacher.

The guys a fucking genius. One of the best character skits EVER!
Somewhere in an alternate universe these two would be fantastic as Gomez and Morticia 🖤
Or as George Hamilton and Lauren Hutton in Zorro The Gay Blade
Masterfully done! Acting! Genius! Thank you!!!
Now I get it...

I thought she was going to slip in some lines from her role as "Alex" in "Fatal Attraction." The hair was right!
How did I miss this? "Acting!" was a joke in high school theater class 😅
I dont get it.. pls enlighten me

I hope Jon has that painting hanging above his hearth.
Damn Glen Close was way too good in this for it to be only be just a SNL skit 😂
I remember when this first came out over 25 years ago! so good!
Glenn Close needs to host again. I swear she must memorized the script or she’s a master card reader
She actually is reading the cards. If you pay close attention to her eyes, you'll know. Clearly, like you say, she's a master of this art
She also needs to be awarded several Oscars or I'm stopping watching any movies.
ACTING
The Basil Rathbone acting school.
Jon Lovitz when SNL had some good talent!!
The best skit ever acted in the history of sketches.
Acting!!
There is one another guy who can do this skit. Father!!!!!!!! 🕺🏽

This is real talent, excellent acting, comedy with perfect timing.
this is SO FUCKING FUNNY ARE YOU KIDDING ME
I'm dying of acting!
Did Matt Berry base his whole career on this skit?
Glenn Close out-acted Jon Lovitz in this!!!
Absolutely agree!
I love this. Definitely an overcooked ham.
This sketch was absolute comedic art!
See boys and girls, In a time forgotten SNL was funny.
time for a reboot..."Romeo and Juliet: The Senior Years"
ModelT08 they die as teens 🤔
With the added bonus of Phil's theatrical opening narrative this is a perfect comedic sketch.

The irony of the skit is Phil Hartman was the world’s greatest actor ever.
so this is the inspiration for clayface in the harley quinn tv series.. jajaja GENIUS!

Glenn is magic!!!
This was really good
Some of the jokes went right over the audience's head, IMO.
I happen to find this video after I heard it in The Office and I skipped exactly where he says "acting".
Lovitz is marvelous!!!
Acting! Wonderful!

Glenn Close plays this so well. She actually out shines John IMO.

All this time thought I was quoting Michael Scott. But he was quoting this
lovitz a match for Glenn, nice
Oh I do appreciate the Othello reference.
Jon lovitts even over acts to such an absurd degree.😅😅😅. "i was ACTING!"
Damn, Lovitz is amazing.
Slowly I turned, step-by-step
OMG I love both of them!!! ACTING!!!!
lin manuel miranda really let himself go :/
Next time he hosts SNL, they should have him play the Master Thespian's long lost son.
I can’t believe they didn’t to a move on this!

this is my favorite scene of SNL since i am coming to america

I always thought he'd do great to on Jeremy impersonation if he hasn't done it already 😂
I love Snl
John, Andy brags about killing everyone on a daily basis. That last one David. John, do you know what he did to David? I do.
Майкл скотт привел меня сюда
If this was the Rust set... "You shot me!" ..."No I didn't, I was acting!"
So edgy
Michael Scott brought me here
This was when SNL was actually worth watching.
This is how they speak in Tuckson Arizonaaaaaaaaaaaaa
All fancy and Europe-like
Not as good as Tommy Wiseau but still decent 👍😜😁👌
I wanted to like it, but I couldn't even crack a smile.
Cool. No one said you had to like it. We will all be okay
@Andrea1542 Are you sure? There's not too much trauma involved I hope...😆😆
Hilarious mockery of the [fake] "craft".
