I have a hack for fisherman: the metal stringers can be used to hang/display hat (ball cap) collection. Shorten the chain a bit in the long section, clip hats & hang on the wall. I used to fish bass tournaments & have hats from sponsors & I did rep work at events where I was given hats. I have a huge collection now & had them boxed up. Now my fishing room (formerly known as the spare bedroom) I can display my collection & other collectibles. I have lures where pro fisherman like KVD autographed… I have them hanging on these as well, along with a few lures that were packaged wrong or had a mistake or other rare lures. Makes a cool way to decorate your shop, man cave, fishing rooms…
This is a hack I learned a long time ago and it’s probably old school by now. But you can make a large slip float out of empty very small plastic pop bottles. 1. Remove the label off the bottle 2. Zip tie one eye of a swivel behind the collar of the bottle neck 3. Feed your line through the other eye of the swivel 4. Remove the bottle cap and fill the pop bottle with enough water to add extra casting weight and reduce buoyancy of the bottle(screw the cap back on). Works great for live bait fishing for catfishing and larger fish. You can also put a glow stick inside the bottle for night fishing.
Loved the video FnS! That big flashlight would be great fishing on my Sailboat at night!!! I gotta get that silicone tape is a gotta have!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! 🙏❤️🇺🇸⛵️👣🍍🫠
Been doing that style of draggin weight for years. I use thinner wire twist the eyelet back onto itself and use a bunch of cheap bullet weights for plastic worms from Walmart. Because they are usually the cheapest lead weights you can get with a hole through them.
Some truckstops sell a product called "Rescue tape", several colors, it sticks only to itself. It would be handy for wrapping rod handles. When it gets dirty, it's easy to replace.
Too funny Keith about the fishing rods. Was fishing one of the very popular fishing places here in Central Washington, Banks Lake last April 2023, when my buddy's pole bent half over then shot straight into the water. Worst part was was it was his most favorite fishing poles. I really like the idea of the silicone tape. I have a bunch it, think I'll use it on my rods. Fish On!
I have a hack kind of. Captain Big Fish Barb Buddy Fishing Rig Storage System $24. I bought a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and cut the middle out and just drilled holes in it. Saves 15 bucks and holds all your hooks and rigs. I also put a pool noodle on the outside in case it falls off my kayak that way it stays floating. Not sure if you did that one or not but I use it all the time for fishing. saves me time of making rigs on the water

Yet another great video Keith, I hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year, also Merry Christmas to all in the comments too, and lastly, Keith, what's the fastest double act in the Water, its the Motor Pike and Sidecarp, sorry couldn't resist.
In my 52 yrs I have found a number of them, but never lost one. Only ever had one almost pulled in,that was when I was maybe 6 and wasn't paying attention and a 34-36" Common Carp took off with a crayfish tail. I always either have them in rod holders,in rod holders with the baitrunner engaged,or I'm holding it if they're in the water. I will not leave a rod in the water unattended or at least a baitrunner on. I have used treble hooks rigged like a Carolina rig to catch a few I've seen in the water and 1 or 2 of a friends. If you reeeelly want to save your cork handles get you some U.A.A. INC. U-40 Cork Sealant. If it's a new handle just apply it. If it's an old handle you can lightly sand it with some 400+ grit sandpaper, then apply. You can still use the tapes afterwards if you want even more protection but that sort of defeats the purpose of getting cork handles to start with. I don't like the tapes and not so much the foam handles either.
Interesting video My Hack to get a rod out of the water I normally have a heavy rod with 50 or heavier braid on it Tie a swivel to the braid and then tie a 3 or 4 feet of 20 lb mono to the swivel Just below the swivel tie several over hand knots in the mono Thread on a 1 oz egg sinker and then tie on 2 - 4/0 or larger treble hooks a foot apart But first you want to completely blunt the hook points Then cast past where the pole should be and slowly drag the treble hooks If you snag up , the mono normally will break at the over hand knots
Hey ,Keith, another great set of hacks. Like them lights, of course my wife says I never met a flashlight I didn't like. But I don't listen to her much. I'll have to try some of that tape, I hate to mess up the cork handles. All good uns bud. God bless ya'll, brother. Stay safe when you're out and about. Hope ya'll have a blessed Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
For me... it's flashlights, knives, cord, 5 gallon buckets, rods/ reels, tools, anything that charges through a USB port, smokers/ grills, guns/ ammo, t- shirts/ hoodies and baggy sweat pants.... and this is the short list....
Many years ago I dropped a rod in a lake from a dock, into probably 15 ft of water. My buddy dropped his line in the water and after a few tries he actually hooked the very last tiny little eyelet and I got it back.
I’ve got a couple ideas….. cork handles, you can get a little can of cork sealer that’ll keep it from getting all flakey, if you want a different grip, try the self stick tape stuff from rural king in the horse section, for wrapping hooves and legs. That’s the same stuff as the brown tape in the first aid section…like elastic and velcro. Last, wire hose clamp tool, You might already know about this, wonder what else you could use it for….stuff…fishing’….etc
Try a magic eraser to clean your cork handles, and try U-40 Cork Sealer to seal your cork handles. Apply 2 coats. Keeps them looking good for a long time!
Got another one for ya for the crappy checker, the clear plastic measuring board that the fish slides into. Before the fish's head goes into the checker they can flip causing you to drop them. I used a Dremel to cut a 1" wide thumb grove down the center of the front so I didn't have to release the fish to measure it. These boards also sink so I attached a key chain floater to the top. If this isn't clear feel free to ask questions. I wasn't crazy about it before but this makes it user friendly.
Katfish, if ya don't post anutter one jus wanted to say Merry Christmas my brother from anutter mother!!! 🎅🤶 Comin atcha from southern Cabarrus County!!! 🤠 God Bless ya my friend! 🙏 Jay🕊🕊🕊❤
So you spoke about having a rod either pulled in or tossed in while fishing and that reminded me of a situation from my youth. So let's start this story with I was about 14yrs I believe. Well me and a buddy of mine used too wake up every summer morning around 4am and walk down too the Delaware River in Pennsylvania and fish many different spots because we had 2 separate boat launch areas and many sections along the river we could access through the woods and other spots also. Well we would start our morning off at a boat ramp by a inlet too a cove just off the river and catch small eels from around the docks for bait. We fished mostly for channel cat's back then and they love some sliced up eels just saying. So with that back ground out the way this one day we were fishing from a long dock that went out pretty far into this cove just before the entrance or the river and would catch those morning cat's that came in and fed on small stuff around the docks. Well on this morning I had a good rod of mine pulled in and boy was a mad. Well now this is the crazy part a few day's later it was later in the evening and we happened too be out fishing for some bass that also would cruise along these docks. I was using a rattle trap and on my I believe it was 5th cast I hooked into something and the fight began. Well too my surprise I caught my fishing rod that was strictly used for cat fishing with a silver and black rattle trap and couldn't have been happier. Of course I had to break down the entire reel and clean out all the gunk that managed too build up over those few day's but hey I got it back after thinking it was gone forever. And I still own that rod even though it's retired these day's now that I'm 42 and mostly bass fish on the lake I moved too. I hope everyone likes this cool story and the best part is it's all true lol. Sorry for my grammar mistakes I'm no expert writer.

I have 1 concern about the silicon tape on the rod handle. Would it be slippery when it gets wet or fish slim on the tape ?
