@@shannonmurray34 Hendrix had a great rendition but it's not one you play before a game. It's out there and hardly sounds like the anthem at times. Metallica's version is very elegant considering they are Thrash musicians.

Nope, they have turned down halftime shows in the past because they are pre recorded. They will only play live performances. NFL halftime shows are a joke and the performers they get to do them are a joke. Big props to Metallica for for not playing for the NFL
The Night Before is a concert Metallica played in San Fransisco on February 6, 2016 after the NFL did not let them play at the Super Bowl's halftime show.
I think it's a must that they do. They have been put off long enough, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Lady GaGa and the rest of the pop nation will get another chance, these guys have been around for 36 years, so it's no reason to put them off any longer.

They may not care one way or another if they do,but believe me,if the NFL says "Yeah, we would like MetallicA to play the super bowl." they will. James has said He would love to play the halftime show at a super bowl. And it's not pre recorded, there is a delay in the show to national television due to a certain wardrobe malfunction with Janet Jackson, and Justin Timberlake. I don't think the NFL has to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions, or any vulgar language with these cats. Mabe back in their hay day, when they didn't give a flip what anyone thought, now a days they have grandparents bringing their grandkids to their concerts. I was in Birmingham,Al in January and I couldn't believe at the kids under 15 I seen there lol. Right now is the best time to get these guys to do it, and it wouldn't do nothing but bring more fans to the game. Because we all know MetallicA are Gods, and people are gonna come see them, even if they have to watch the frist half of a football game lol.
