@@peterzingler6221 I'm sorry, but that is simply not correct. Vertical placement of the wing has very little impact on stability. Expert videographer and darling launcher at your beck and call, a penultimate slope of unparalleled grandeur, finely crafted models that would be worth dealing with the Devil, and piloting skills that the angels would envy. AND the graciousness to share with mere mortals such as myself! Many thanks, Friend.
For those of us in your audience: John, I do not know if you have done this, but I would certainly like to know more about your flying. You obviously have a world-class slope, but did you ever have an access problem? You probably do not build all of those great gliders, but who does? Do the builders loan you the planes, or what is the arrangement? What are min and max air speeds you have measured at the slope? Have you ever had to land at the bottom? Thanks for the time to answer these.....Roy Bunnell
Hi there, I'm really lucky that the slope I normally fly from is just a short walk from my house. Most of the coastline here is National Trust land, who allow the flying of model gliders from their land, so there is a good slope, facing every wind direction within 20 miles or so. I really enjoy the building side of the hobby and build pretty much all of my gliders. All the models in the videos are my own. A lot are my own designs or scratch built from plans. But occasionally I build from a kit or buy a second-hand model, ready to fly, from a swap meet. Ive built so many models over the years I can build quite fast now. I generally have about 40 models at any one time and am always building something new, and then sell off the ones I don't fly anymore. The money I make from selling old models easily pays for new wood and covering etc, so it doesn't really cost me anything. I haven't ever lost a model down the slope but no model lasts forever. They slowly get tatty or broken from storage or messing about flying low level etc. I really like flying in gentle winds, with a lightweight model, as its challenging but relaxing. I do have models that will fly in 30mph winds. Its exhilarating but doesn't really make for good video, as it just a fast moving dot in the sky.
Please, what would be a nice balsa, easy to build, rc slope glider for beginners? Even from plans, no need for a kit or anything. I got in love with the simplicity of one called Old School from RcGroups/Outerzone. Would you recommend that one? Thank you and you videos are beautiful!
Hi there and thanks for watching. The Old School is a lovely looking glider and should certainly fly well in light winds. It may be slightly harder to build than something like a Gentle Lady, as it has elliptical wings etc. Good luck with the build, whatever you choose...
Lol, here before the first thumbs down. Who could EVER dislike these videos? Awesome plane! I wish i could fly balsa stuff like that but i live in the high desert mountains, the only things to land on are spiny plants and razor sharp jagged rocks. I'm stuck with flying foam and lots of tape on the belly, and rebuilding the fuselage every dozen landings or so.
@@darkiee69 I would if i had a flat place to belly land. I REALLY suck at catching planes too, i've broken more planes trying to catch them than i've ever caught. I've got huge hands with nerve damage and have trouble grabbing something gently that quick, i've crushed a few balsa and tissue micro flyers like this. Thing is, there's barely a flat spot to land anywhere, and nothing as wide as that wingspan. If it's calm i've got an 8 foot table i land slowflyers on but if there's any wind the turbulence just forces me to fluff it into one of the few non spiny bushes or trees to keep it off the rocks and agave. This is where i fly. ruclips.net/video/FpOY7dimTjg/видео.html
