      Vielen Dank! Es freut mich wenn ich den einen oder anderen zu einem schönen Bauprojekt inspirieren kann. Der Triple Neo ist wirklich ein toller Flieger. Ich weiß gar nicht welche Version mir besser gefällt, Thermic oder Speed. Machen beide richtig Spaß.
      Eine Klemm ist auch eine sehr schöne Maschine. Ich habe in meiner Bau-Pipeline einen DSF Kranich. Auf den freue ich mich schon. Schöne Grüße aus Bayern

      Thanks a lot! I know you were waiting for the release of the video for quite a while. I am so happy that you liked it. In the meantime I had the chance to make many flights with the Triple Neo Thermic and you won‘t be disappointed. It performs so much better in thermals compared to the Speed wings. Handling is different and requires a lot more rudder instead of ailerons but you’ll get used to that quickly. Making the video was sometimes a bit of a stretch but finally I am really happy with it as I am also happy with the color scheme. The transparent red just looks beautiful with the sun shining through. The video shooting for the flight video is done but the editing will still need a bit of time. Hope you are making good progress with your Thermic. Bye Robert

    After seeing your first video on the neo speed I built it myself as a first time building project.
    For this winter I decided to build the thermal wings and now I have a build video to follow along. 😊

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  Год назад

      Thanks for your feedback! I am super happy that my videos are helpful for you. The Thermic wings are a bit more work than the Speed wings as you have to build inner and outer sections. Flying with the Thermic wings is totally different. It is much more sensitive to thermals (no surprise 😜) and it is less agile and wants to be controlled a lot by rudder with the ailerons stabilizing the angle of bank. I already had a 1 hour flight jumping from one thermal to the other. You‘ll love it! Enjoy the build and in case of questions don‘t hesitate to post a comment.

    Hi. Very detailed and clear instructions! Beautiful and professional work! Tell me, please, what kind of varnish do you cover the model with before coating with a film? Dilute it with a solvent to reduce weight? I am grateful in advance.

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  Год назад

      Thanks! The varnish is in fact a hotmelt adhesive. It is the same stuff that is on the backside of the covering film. The ORACOVER film would stick even without applying this hotmelt adhesive. But with the hotmelt adhesive the bonding between the wood and the film is much better as the adhesive is soaked into the wood. I am using thinner to reduce the weight.

      Thanks! I try to reduce the use of CA as much as possible. I hate how it always sticks best on your skin rather than on the piece it should glue 😂 I learned RC building in my childhood back in the 80‘s. So white glue is something I grew up with. Today I like mixing technologies … but for sure white glue is still there!

      Is there any benefit to wood glue vs CA? Other than clean up.

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  5 месяцев назад

      @cwfarm3793 wood glue gives you more time for alignment of parts. CA hardens the wood locally which is sometimes more difficult to sand. Apart from that a lot is linked to personal preference

    Hi there, a very nice build video, I've seen it a few times now. Do you know the Inside F5J model? If you do, how does this Triple Neo compare to the Inside F5J in terms of flight handeling?

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks, great that you liked the video. I don't know the Inside F5J but I checked the specs. According to the data I found I would say that the Inside is lighter than the Triple Neo Thermic and has therefore a much lower wing loading (17g/dm2 vs my Triple Neo Thermic 27g/dm2). The Inside seems to be comparable with my F5K Maverick in terms of flight performance (with the Maverick being smaller of course). For calm days I usually use my Maverick and for slightly more windy days I use the Triple Neo which can handle the wind a bit better. The wing structure of the Inside seems to be also quite similar to my Maverick. The Triple Neo has a much stronger wing structure (allowing for more wind). That's about all I could say. I hope this helps.

    • @Ultramesh
      @Ultramesh 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@bavarian_rcYes thanks. The solution of course is to get both, lol. I have the Inside on order this week already as there was a deal on it. What is the all up weight of this Triple Neo Thermic?

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  6 месяцев назад

      @Ultramesh Good idea, get both 😜 My Triple Neo Thermic has an AUW of 1281g. The tail of mine got a bit too heavy, so I needed some weight in the nose to balance. You can easily save 100g if you build the tail a bit lighter.

    Great build video. I have watched it twice! Can you tell me what the flat bar dimensions are and the size of the I assume lead weights that appear to be cast in a muffin tin? By size diameter and weight would be awesome. I am getting ready to build a Paragon and would like to try your method of weight clamping to keep it flat. Thanks again for your time making the video. God Bless!

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks a lot! The flat bars (steel) are 6x30x150mm with a weight of 215g. In the meantime I also made some of 8x40x150mm with 373g but the lighter ones are the more versatile ones. Now to the lead weights. There's a little story behind: Actually these were made by my dad when he was a teenager. Today he is in his 80's. I also asked him one day why these weights have this specific form. He told me that they had a kids toy scale with small "cups" where you could put the stuff inside you wanted to weigh. These cups were made of metal. When he was looking for something to cast some lead weights for his hobby (he was building control line models at the time) he used these cups. So they have a long history 😊 The bottom diameter is 35mm, the upper diameter is 25mm and the height is 15mm. Their weight is 150g. All of these weights are super useful.

    Good day to you and hoping that winter has come to a fine end for the season! At time stamp 37:05 are you using the fibreglass reinforcement with the epoxy mixture or with the fibreglass repair resin? I just want to be clear although it looks like you are using the standard epoxy mixture with micro balloons added. Please confirm when you can.....and thank you once again for such an eloquent time lapse video! Ciao e a presto!!!

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Peter, indeed winter has come to an end. We already had the first beautiful days with above 20°C and the next weekend promises unbelievable 28°C. As usual we are boosted from 10°C to 28°C within only few days. You are right, I am using the same epoxy resin for all. I mix a portion of resin and then put half of it into a 2nd pot, where I add micro balloons and thixotropic powder. For the carbon roving at the trailing edge I am using the standard resin without any additive. On the ribs along the trailing edge I am using the epoxy with the micro balloons. For the fibreglass at the wing root I am again using the standard epoxy. For the ribs again the resin with the micro balloons.
      Keep me updated on your build!

    Sehr schönes Video! Wie lange lässt man den Leim ungefähr trocknen bevor man zum nächsten Schritt kann?

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  8 месяцев назад

      Danke! ☺️ Es kommt darauf an, welchen Leim man nimmt und wie kritisch eine Verklebung ist. Ich benutze Ponal Express, der trocknet relativ schnell. Unkritische Stellen lasse ich ca. 1 Stunde trocknen, kritische Stellen wie z.B. Holm oder die Beplankung lasse ich schon mehrere Stunden oder besser über Nacht trocknen. Wenn man zu früh weiter macht kann sich leichter was verziehen.

    Great build. I am building a neo speed now, and i wonder how the thermic wing is compared to the speed wing? Is there any reason that you don`t use CA glue?

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  Год назад +1

      Thanks! The Speed Wings already perform quite well in thermals but the Thermic Wings are much better. The handling is really absolutely different. With the speed wings it is more of a cruising with agile controls through the ailerons. With the Thermic wings you need a lot more rudder for turning. Finally I like both very much and use the pair of wings fitting best to the weather and my mood.

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  Год назад

      I forgot to answer your question about the CA glue. First of all I think there is a lot of personal preference in using mainly white glue and honestly I hate CA glue as there is nothing where it sticks better than on your skin. I personally like white glue for all wood/wood joints. You have time enough to align your parts and white glue keeps a bit of elasticity which is ideal for a wing structure. On the other side building with white glue requires more time as you always need to wait for the glue to dry. CA has a clear advantage there. But CA makes the wood quite hard which means you have soft and hard areas next to each other which is not ideal for transporting forces through the structure.

    • @janiversen4391

    Ciao Roberto,
    I have used a 5-minute epoxy resin /hardener combination. I believe that I do not work fast enough in order to properly coat all parts / roving material and then attach the elements concerned. In the video....is the ratio of 10g resin : 4g hardener applied throughout the build? ( I saw that ratio on the build of the Neo-Speed....simply wondering if the same ratio was applied here in the Neo Thermic Time Lapse video. Am I better to use a 24-hour epoxy mixture? Opinion? Spring has sprung here....finallya day above 10 degrees C.
    Peter

    • @bavarian_rc
      @bavarian_rc  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Peter, 5-minute epoxy will not really work. It takes around 20 minutes to properly apply the roving, the thickened epoxy on the ribs and the glass fiber. No chance with 5-minute epoxy. I definitely recommend using normal 24-hour laminating epoxy (not casting epoxy). The one I use has 40 minutes pot life, which lets you do all the work without any stress. The mixing ratio depends on your resin system. Usually 5-minute epoxy is 50:50 (in volume). My laminating epoxy system is 100:40 (in weight). With epoxy you need to strictly follow the ratio given by the manufacturer. More hardener to have quicker reaction will not work. In that case the excess hardener would not react and you would get a bad result (might stay sticky). This is different to polyester resin where the amount of hardener can be varied. I never us polyester resin for RC builds. I hope this helps and don't hesitate to come back with any questions you might have. Happy to answer them all! Ciao Robert

      The white glue is a wood glue which is ideal for wood/wood joints. I like Ponal Express as it works best for me.

    Епоксидната смола освен теглово може да се смесва и обемно. Аз лично смесвам обеми минимум от около половин куб.см и нямам проблеми с втвърдяването. Все пак живея в най бедната част на източна Европа.

      Yes, I agree for small amount of epoxy there is not much difference between mixing by weight or by volume. My kitchen scale looks like it has an accuracy of 1 gram but I doubt it is that accurate. In case you are mixing bigger amount of epoxy I think the difference between volume and weight becomes more significant.

    Putting flight videos as a separate video is LAME. You do amazing work, then expect us to hunt through RUclips to find the ending? At least link to it after it's posted. Otherwise 9/10!

      I really appreciate that you like my work. What I don’t get it this thing about the flight video. Is it so hard to find? If you go to the video description of the build video you‘ll find the link to the flight video. I always thought this would be enough to find it. What platform are you using for RUclips? PC? Mobile? TV? Maybe the video description is a bit hidden on your platform. Where would you expect the link in the video? At the very end? I‘ll check what options I have in YT

      @@bavarian_rc Why is it so important to put out two-part videos? You do all this great work, on the plane and in video production, only to frustrate your viewers. If I'm complaining, you know there are plenty of others who feel the same way but simply click away and don't take the time to offer criticism. I am disabled and can't do much except watch tv all day so I have time to offer advice. And I wouldn't take the time to do it on a channel I didn't think had a lot to offer. But if you insist on two-part videos (?), yes, please put part two at the end. But you can't do that until later because you make them at different times. And if you make them at the same time, again, why release them separately? Also, consider labeling them "Part 1" and "Part 2" or "Build Video Only", or something. The frustrating part is to watch the build video (which IS amazing) and right when you expect to see the thing fly you have to play this little game. RUclips is so competitive. It is just too easy to watch some other guy's videos that don't make you go through the little dance. If you are trying to make extra revenue with the second video, I think you are losing just as much by frustrating your viewers. One last thing, in your flight footage, try including more shots from the ground. I know it's challenging to get the planes to show up, but it is this perspective that really shows off how well the planes fly.

      Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide this feedback. First to explain why I do separate build and flight videos: The effort to create a flight video is very high (like for the build videos). For example the flight video of the Triple Neo Thermic took around 20-25 flights which were spread over several weeks. To make it all look seamless I also needed to take care to have similar weather conditions. The editing of the video again took me around 3-4 weeks (I am doing this as a hobby!). So you see there is a significant delay between the completion of the build and the availability of the flight video. Therefore I always make a 2 video approach to push out the build video once it is done and then have a separate flight video somewhere after. It significantly reduced the stress on my side (again this is only a hobby for me). I was always thinking that the flight video would be easy to find with the link in the video description but obviously the description is not so easy to access on devices like TV.
      Revenues are definitely not an important topic. The flight videos usually have a lot less clicks compared to the build videos. If I compare the effort that goes into the flight videos with the revenues I would immediately need to stop doing them 😂 So far, if I look at the effort put into the creation of the flight video of the Triple Neo Thermic, it made me earn less than 10 Cent per man hour I put into it. Very bad business model!
      So I think I need to find a compromise: What I can do is to put an info card (that's the banner on the upper right corner) at the end of the video that links to the flight video (already did this now for the Triple Neo Thermic and Twin Turbo Lidl build videos). In addition I will link on the end screen to the flight video. Normally these links at the end of the video should show up also on TVs.
      What I do to find more videos from one creator, I navigate to the creator's channel and then look for other videos I might be interested (not sure this works easily on TVs).
      Concerning the shots from the ground you are absolutely right. The problem is that I am usually alone when I am doing the video shooting. So I can't fly the plane and operate the video camera. I was always trying to compensate that by putting a Insta360 camera on a tripod. The issue is that this camera has a super wide angle lens. So to get a good shot of the plane from the ground you almost have to hit the tripod in order to be close enough. For the flight video of the Triple Neo Thermic for the first time I gave my SLR camera to my daughter so that she could film from the ground. She ist just a beginner in filming and had some trouble getting good shots but she will improve over time. So I can promise you that there will be more shots from the ground in the future.
      Again thanks a lot for your valuable feedback.
      Best regards
      Robert

      @@bavarian_rc Sure thing. I appreciate your reply. Often when I offer suggestions RUclipsrs just get nasty and tell me off. You do amazing work both with the planes and the videos. I spent a decade building planes and can't do it now, so I love to watch others.

    Дуже цікаво та неімовірно красиво, але такий обсяг роботи...
    Але я ніколи не повірю, що все це не можна зробити на 3Д принтері, за наявності сучасних пластиків та того ж самого карбону.

      Thanks, great that you liked it. Yes, there is a lot of work that goes into such a build but you know there are the RC hobbyists that like building and the ones that like flying… I like both! So spending lots of time with building is part of the fun. Not sure if that big wingspans are already possible with 3D printing but I have already seen gliders that were 3D printed. By the way, you might be interested in my build video and flight video of the Shaka from Flightpoint which is a Ukrainian company. I am just starting another build in a cooperation with Flightpoint. Always happy to support Ukraine! 🇺🇦
