I was thinking superpower is better then cc in malamar set, and anniahlape shout prob have defiant i think that is better then inner focus
H Zoroark should run its signature move Bitter Malice. Slightly less damage than Shadow Ball, but the attack drop is guaranteed, which could be a good way to cripple an opponent.
Next, maybe you could do counter teams? How you, as a trainer, would go about facing these rematches. It may help point out certain weaknesses / strategies that'd work against such well built squads!
I love how this fits with the pokémon origins style gyms, where the gym leader picks a team based on the challenger's number of badges. This feels like their real team compared to the one they use on the job
Great follow up video. I think one of the things you really improved on in this video is move choice. The coverage makes sense and it still feels like its beatable with a in game team.
Yeah, last time was harder since I was trying to stick to level curves and stuff. But this time, I felt like I could just pick whatever, which felt great.
Hey man, I just wanted to thank you, you really inspired me with this video! I have about 5k subs on my Pokemon channel too, but I’ve been busy with some personal things and my channel’s taken a back seat. I binged your channel literally yesterday, and with this video I decided it’s time to get back to it :) keep it up bro
A lovely follow-up video. I hope another video goes over a potential Elite Four dual-type team, even if you already used every type at least once. It'd be a chance to try new type combos too!
That's a good idea. The crazy perfectionist in me is like "but how to use all types again?!?!?" But if I could just pick the four (or 5) best type combos, that'd be good.
@@PokéThink See again already picked types from the gym or evil team would be redundant. Why not use theme-based elite four instead? I remembered I suggest you in your first video, that would be cool for another gyms but the E4 is the perfect case to try it.
@@PokéThink I suggested food and technology in the comment I made for the original video. But there can be more themes: music (the "sound type"), specific countries, folklore (like yokaï in Japan), etc
I absolutely love both of these videos! I dabble with this kind of theory crafting / Fakemon stuff & ooooo both of these made me feel so inspired to work on something. Have a great day, and I look forward to more of your videos 😁
While I do like the idea, I don't think actual gym leaders would just pick some of the strongest two pokemon of each of the two types. Otherwise you would lose a lot of thematic cohesion because of how many dual typed pokemon exist by this point and which in this case don't have to share even a single type anymore. Without any further restrictions those trainers would probably feel almost like having no speciality at all (like the rivals). I think it more likely that the gym leader would only use mono-typed pokemon (of each of the two types) or those of the exact type combination his gym is based around. At the very least exclude types that are opposed to one of your gym types (like Cradilly as a grass type in the bug team). I also think it makes most sense if the ace always matches both of the gym's types.
I think my only comment would be for the 8th gym to change Dragalge for a pokemon with Drizzle that comes out before Archaludon. Having to waste a turn an an item slot on Archaludon feels like a waste, when Dragalge is sooo bad, its just so slow it won't get to hit. Obviously the only Drizzle options are Politoed and Pelipper, which maybe throw off the balance of the team by having too many water types but it feels worth it for Archaludon to get to come out and just start shooting off Electro Shots. If you want a Dragon type that learns it to avoid throwing off the balance, maybe Tatsugiri to carry the Water/Dragon dual type? For support Gyarados for Intimidate pressure? You lose the Poison type to counter Fairy, but Dragalge is so bad I doubt it would really be able to counter Fairies anyway.
Loving the series so far Recommendation/request for future videos: would you consider adding pokemon stat spread to the screen when introducing pokemon? I feel like giving that information can help us further understand your reasonings for pokemon choice
Imagine being able to play a version of Pokemon where the gym leaders, elite four, champion, and rematch teams are all actually good/fleshed out. That would be CraAazY! Really great work putting together teams that I would both want to face and use!
This reeeeeally makes me think that you’d love the fan game Pokemon Auto Chess. It gives a super similar vibe of making teams and mixing and matching synergies
I think you did a great job making teams! though I would say that the ace of any “dual type” gym leader should be their dual type, not aegislash for a fairy/steel team, y’know?
Yeah, but just sometimes it doesn't work since that Pokemon was a good ace for a team of their original level, but not really for the rematch team. Scovillain is a great example. A good 4th gym Pokemon, but once you've already beaten the league, not so good of an Ace any more.
One cool idea would be to do an “Elite 4 version” of the teams and adding either a mythical or a legendary Pokemon to each of them. Since the teams might be quite similar, just with one or two swaps, maybe instead of repeating each team you could point out the swaps? Let me know what you think!
I’d like to see your take on good “mono-type” teams. So they all have to share a type, like grass for example, but you could still use a lot of dual types
corrected in the description! Thanks for your feedback. I flip-flopped around with team placement on the Fire/Grass one and then forgot to swap out Scorching Sands for Sunny Day last minute
27:46 Why give Kingdra Dragon Dance when it's mostly running special attacks? Its attack stat is identical to its special attack stat (both at 95), so running a physical set is actually possible. In Gen 9 alone for physical attacks it gets access to Wave Crash, Liquidation, Outrage, Iron Head, Flip Turn, Scale Shot, Waterfall, Double Edge, and Breaking Swipe.
While I think this video is great I cannot condone Charizard being used at all, it’s ZU for a reason even with boots and Tera. Also Charizard is built so that it only achieves anything if the sun is up and the only Pokémon on the team that can set it up was four slots up so “best” case scenario Charizard only has four turns to take advantage of it, mind you that requires ALL of them to be taken out in a single hit and at that point why would Charizard fair any better? Once the sun runs out it is cannon fodder for any Water type and as you mentioned in that section the Sun is probably running out before then!
Just wanna comment on how cohesive the themeing is for all these teams. Each one has an overall "vibe" that I think really elevates this sort of exercise.
What you had going for the original teams was great, and maybe if you stuck closer to that it would have felt ... more cohesive? I can't imagine these being the same gym leaders you showed in the last video. Feels wrong.
I think aegislash would benefit from lagging tail, and using kings shield every other turn, that way whenever it takes damage it hasnt switched forms yet, cause blade form has super low def and spd
Rillaboom should use High Horsepower (Or possibly Stomping Tantrum, but that's weak) and not Earthquake, because Grassy Terrain halves the power of Earthquake, Bulldoze and Magnitude.
Love both of your videos but now I would love to see how you would set up your elite four and champion. However I would trade out Luxray with eletkross given it's the only electric type without weaknesses
Elektross would have been cool! What would you like to see for an Elite Four? I don't have a good idea for it yet, since all the types have been taken, but I'm open to suggestions.
@PokéThink there's instead of type, why not have the members focus on the stats. That way you can have teams that are of mixed types but all follow a theme. An example would be a member focusing on attacking with no thoughts on defense. Or being the top four they could in order have the most power type combos
Why put Gastrodon after Lapras? Like I get it gets the can't miss Blizzard, but that's a waste bc the defense boost isn't there for it or Excadrill. Snowscape isn't really that useful for just Lapras & Gastrodon's Blizzard. It makes little sense to give it the Icy Rock as well, bc if snow is still active by the time Ninetales comes out, Snow Warning won't activate & aurora veil won't be usable. Also, why no Light Clay?
Not sure if it's been suggested, but I'd like to see how you would design an elite 4? Maybe the memebers could specialize in three types, while the champion could have a team with 6 different types. Not only would you be able to cover all 18 types (12 types divided among the elite 4 and the champion utilizing the remaining 6 types), but it would show that to be a champion you need to be able to master a team of diverse types.
Yeah, I'm not sure how to do this well yet. What exactly does a three type team look like? And then for the Champion, would it feel good if those 6 types were still dual typed with others? I don't think I'll make a video about it unless I can think of a really clean solution. But of course, thanks for the view and suggestion.
@@PokéThinkYou could try and make each one a weather team again, Rock, Ground, and Steel for the sand Elite four member. Water, Electric, and Flying for the rain Elite four member. Fire, Grass, and something else for the sun Elite four member. And then Ice and two others not harmed by it for the snow Elite four member.
