For years, Detroit has been considered one of the most dangerous cities in the USA - and especially infamous is Seven Mile Road. This area is so tough that even the police only dare tread during the day. Ruled by the Seven Mile Bloods. One of the most notorious gangs in the city. Drug dealers, hustlers, killers, and thieves - prepared to do whatever it takes to defend their territory. For over ten years gang leader Money controls the drug trade with an iron fist. A bloody territorial war keeps the gang in turmoil. To keep their rivals in check, boss Money needs a steady flow of new weapons. Only with the requisite firepower can they continue to dominate their territory and the other gangs - because the touch-paper might light at any moment.
The violent crime rate in Detroit is five times higher than in the rest of the country. In 2018, over thirteen thousand crimes were reported, many more occurred. Seven Mile in particular is the front line for the bloody territorial battles that brutally define this no-go zone. For the police, every assignment is a risk, which is why bounty hunters are often used to go after criminals. A special unit of bounty hunters prepares for their next assignment on the outskirts of downtown. Tommy Depung leads the unit. So far, he’s arrested over 2500 criminals. Together with his team, they´re following a hot tip about a wanted drug and weapons dealer, and it’s taking them straight into the no-go zone…

Never thought I would see a documentary on this! Crazy but true. Born and raised in Detroit, off 7 Mile right down the street from Osborn High. Tough area is an understatement. The hood breeds 2 types of people: those who never want to leave and those who can’t be stopped from leaving.
Left at 19 for a better life and never looked back. It’s my city and will always be my hometown but you can’t pay me to visit some of my childhood locations.

I could not agree with the two types comment more. I was born and raised and got out of there at 19. I’m glad for the upbringing because it made me who I am. I was born in Windsor in 1974, moved in 1977, and have been in British Columbia since 1981. My mother's 4 sisters and their kin all still live in Windsor. Just being sober is worth so much to my family, even if I feel terrible, or have a quiet negative attitude or thoughts. During those times, I have to remember what a blessing it is to my family for me to be sober.

The original plan was to sleep somewhere enroute, but heavy fog slowed me down so much, that I had to drive straight through to make my delivery appointment. Did a search online, and discovered that there had been a murder IN THE PARKING LOT where I was parked a month earlier.

I grew up in this area in the '50s and '60s. It was like a small town with nice stores, schools, and libraries. We never locked our homes or cars and everyone looked out for each other. We had people from many different countries as well as some Mexican and blacks. Most men worked in factories, in construction, and for the city. The cops were visible day and night and were active in the neighborhood. I remember sitting on the porch in the summer, sometimes until midnight talking with friends and family. When it snowed the men would go out and shovel the walks, streets, and alleys.

I've never seen that side of Seven Mile. It's bad and of course stuff happens but that's like any inner city. I've lived here most all my life and people make it sound like if you walk out your door in Detroit, you're gonna get shot and that's not the case. I'm not saying it's not dangerous here and I definitely have heard of a lot happening (thankfully never to me) but Detroit is like any other inner city imo. The problem is, you can go get a regular job like I have, but these companies don't wanna pay you a living wage so people do things to supplement their income or make things like selling drugs their job. If these companies would pay a living wage, people wouldn't do stuff like this. And they need to really do something about the schools because they ARE shutting a lot of schools down here and the schools that are here, don't have the funding to really do what they need to do. There also needs to be parenting classes and counseling available because some of the teachers get so ran down by disruptive students due to bad parenting, that they just don't even wanna deal with the students. It's a multi faceted and multi generational problem here and it SUCKS. This documentary makes it seem like there's no hope in Detroit and that's SCARY AF for me.
