Just a disclaimer: Don't do what I did here. I have since stopped cutting my meds in half as it interferes with the time-release mechanism of the chemical formula and potentially increases unpleasant side-effects. Only take your meds how your MD prescribes you to.
Agree about not splitting it & you should edit the title too perhaps by adding "don't do this"! But I also agree about alternating doses & days. I ask my doctor for 3 different doses: 18, 36 & 54. Depending on the time of day or day of the week I decide which one to take.
I was watching this video on my roku and had to go find my phone to comment. I was pleased to see you put this comment... but soooo not enough lol DO NOT BREAK OR CRUSH concerta... ever... doing that actually doubles your dose more likely than halfs it ... because all the drug goes into you quickly... would be hopeful you could edit the whole video rather than just a pinned comment. I do agree though about constant/daily use... oddly it creates mental exhaustion... but for the love of God... do not break it
@Thabo Phasha I'm not exactly sure what you are saying about anyone being 'wrong' as all of us who commented here said the same thing. That said, I take 54 mg Concerta - Daily and have stopped (watched the Netflix show Take your pills and it messed with my head) - I had ZERO withdrawal... I just got sloppy and 'forgot' a lot... I also do agree with having to take a break, my doctor really wants me to take it every day... but I often do not take it on the weekends when I'm not working to get a reset
I take concerta with my klonopin, and I take Klonopin a couple times a day for bad anxiety. I have to say when I take them both together everyday I have no anxiety and live a healthy stable mind life now.
Holy shit I thought it was just me. I've been off it for a year now and I've never been able to shake the anxious feeling it gave me. And i cant really process information and my own thoughts as well as when I wasn't taking it.
Just an FYI: the concerta insert states that the centerline is not intended to be used to break the tablets in half. In fact, since concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin, there are numerous (I think 3) layers in the tablet which function to release the active drug over time. Breaking those layers may likely alter your drug plasma levels over time from what's intended.
Ya but he is not taking concerta. 1:31 He is taking xenidate. Which is a mix and not a 3 layer osmotic release pill. Infact I have been on 18mg xenidate and my GP prescribed me 36mg xenidate so I can cut it in half to make 18mg.
@@izi.z2384 ya actually that line he is seeing is the the start of the inert filler that expands pushing the medication through a hole in the tablet at the other end. So splitting them in half like that your just saving the bs for later lol
He lost me when he claimed that Concerta increases serotonin. Clearly this person, offering quasi-medical advice with no disclaimer, has no idea about the drug he’s expounding on. Methylphenidate increases dopamine and norepinephrine, not serotonin.
Yup thats true. Just with one exception. If you use any kind of SSRI, methylphenidate can increase effectiveness of SSRI so your serotonin levels. Problematic drug interactions :D
@AnxStudios Yes especially with SNRIs. Ritalin does act as a mild Serotonin 5HT enhancer. However for example Prozac and Ritalin has a moderate interaction. Limit caffeine on concerta.
What dangerous is Amphetamines and antidepressants. Since 1. The serotonin increases due to both antidepressants and Amphetamines and 2. The drugs Amphetamines prevent breakdown of the antidepressants in the blood.
Oh. I just did this. I wish I knew it like, 15 minutes ago. Good to know. I am on day 2 and after I had an horrible first day on 36, I tried to half it. Shit.
@@platypandas you'll be fine, I made this mistake with a 57mg concerta and I was fine, just the expected effects from a stimulant. Drink lots of water and eat a big meal, will help spread the dose out a little and use the energy to do something productive
I think you definitely made a mistake by taking the Concerta with caffeine. The instructions for the drug specifically mention this and note an increase in the risk of nausea, nervousness, palpitations, irritability, problems sleeping, rapid heartbeat, and others. Never break these pills in half, they are specifically made with layers so it releases at different times. If you break that seal it can be released much quicker and lead to a lot of those unpleasant side effects.
I take concerta along with antidepressants, idk I never felt any withdrawals just the fact that I can't study without it.. I feel much happier with it.
I think most of the withdrawals are nutritional deficiences and the stress it causes on the body. I eat really healthy and consume a lot of magnesium and vit c (both of those get depleted with stress) and I also do not feel any withdrawals (Im on 36mg)
i started taking it today, it's my first time. after about 30 minutes i felt calm asf. i still have 10000 thoughts in my head but they are like in slowmotion. I take antidepressants to aswell , two pills. 40 mg. the feeling of concerta is addicting . i feel no pain or anxiety right know . i could take a whole bottle of those pills

I can relate to what you say about alcohol and drugs and being surprised to not be an addict. I have just been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. I was completely honest with my psychiatrist about my alcohol use and she won't let me try stimulant medication unless I can show her I don't have a drinking problem! I was like, the only reason I've ended up drinking on a regular basis was because of chasing the dopamine/stimulant effects like so many other undiagnosed ADHD people. Since my diagnosis three weeks ago I've not had a drop and don't miss it one bit. She's suggested Strattera to start with which I find kind of contradictory seeing as my body will effectively need to become reliant on it for it to work! 🤦🏻♂️ Thank you for your channel by the way. It's been extremely helpful for me to listen to you speaking about your experience with ADHD from a real person point of view. 🙏🏻
That was so stupid of them. As you say, that's why you drank. I drank because I literally couldn't switch off my ADHD brain in the evening (now I exercise in the evening). I was pretty up front with my ADHD practitioner. Hope it worked out.
It's not so much that it "builds up in your system". But that your brains dopamine reward system has it's limits. If you constantly kick start it over and over again, eventually you're going to burn out. Think of it like turning a light bulb on and off really quickly. It will inevitably blow. But if you only turn it on and off when you need to, then the bulb will last far longer.
I was on a very high does for 3 years at least 54mgs a day. I could not feel happy or functional without it. I finally came off it and almost 5 months later am struggling to function. It takes a long time for the brain to work properly after being off of it. I did do the ayurvedic shirodhara treatment. That helps a lot with brain wave functioning.
Lots of important points raised, but also keep in mind, that abuse can be at different levels. Taking way too much to induce euphoria is different from what you described. Also, the human brain ist incredibly good at adapting, but of course that takes time and causes side effects when starting or stopping meds. So while side effects and withdrawl symptoms can be dangerous and should be monitored, I don't think one needs to jump to the conclusion that all meds with side effects are worrysome. Just be smart about them, talk to your doctor, ask all the questions you have.
Man this is the worst. When I started taking this medication it was going great. My ADHD symptoms were gone and overall I was able to focus on what I needed the most. After a while I stopped consuming this medication, just because I felt like I didn’t need it anymore. Now what I feel is that my anxiety has increased, am more moody, and confused. The one affecting me the most is confusion. Every time I wanna speak my mind I end up making a fool of myself, because I word something wrong. I feel like my anxiety has been affecting my focus *a lot*. Adding to that I have trouble remembering things, and this has caused me to think that I have short term memory loss. This is the worst... I feel absolutely hopeless.
just went through a bout of this that lasted about a year, i was absolutely convinced that i had early onset dementia at the age of 35, I was starting to think about how I would tell my kids, what I would do when I needed constant care ect the symptoms were so bad , anyway my neurologist suggest we tend to any psychological issues first before we started testing, I was convinced it would have no effect as I only had mild forms of depression and anxiety, although long standing. I couldn't conceive how mild anxiety and depression could lead to forgetting how to brush my teeth or even what a toothbrush is. I had tried a few antidepressants over the years and none of them really seemed to do anything, they decided to try a new medication, and bam just like that the confusion was gone, I could think clearly again and my memory improved, i'm still not 100% but now I know what the problem is, your symptoms sound very similar to mine, I just wanted you to know it can get better, it's not permanent. Don't underestimate the effects depression and anxiety can have your cognition, best of luck, I hope you get it sorted
That’s ADHD For you legit that’s exactly how I feel without my meds but it’s not that meds do that to me like I just started last year and I guess I just kind of learned how to deal with that but once I got on meds and realized I could do so much more, but when they wear off or I don’t take it for a day, I start to revert to my old self and I’d forgotten how I used to do it. When I’m on my meds I feel like I’m better than everyone and sometimes I am the smartest person in the room, but when I’m off them I feel like an absolute retard that can’t do basic human functions correctly, just know that you’re not alone
Ryzen, I appreciate the concern but I already have mild depression and anxiety, I can afford another one -_-, but seriously I just think I’m a tad bit narcissistic but nothing over the top or extreme. But thanks anyway
I’m experiencing the same thing - when not taking I have trouble remembering things. I’m also convinced it’s bc if the concerta that I’ve developed astigmatism as well. I now only take concerta on days when I feel I absolutely must use it such as days where the workload is gonna be insane.
I didn't take concerta for long I am quite sensitive to drugs ie medications so 36 mg felt like I was tripping or something. I decided to avoid medication though I did post a video in Holland about a lemsteraak and it struck my on looking at what I had done how detailed and together it was. After that holiday I just took the tablets on alternate days and then just as I got anxious, as a teacher there is a lot to get anxious about. Anyway I researched everything I could do to mitigate ADHD because I do not think it is a disability just a different ability. I personally see my ADHD as a gift but that's another story. Here are my strategies: 1 eat a nutritious well balanced diet and I try to eat some liver now and then. 2 get 8 hours sleep per day don't skimp on this . 3 make sure you are getting omega 3 fish oils the modern diet has an omega 6 imbalance that blocks conversion of omega 3 from plants so take fish oils daily. 4 your brain is very creative and you don't have the resources like Elon Musk to implement all of them so prioritize stuff you want to do and try to make a living doing the thing you are good at even if it pays less. 5 this is the big one I started taking coconut oil and it has really helped me to focus I would say like concerta in the early days. I didn't like everything I ate to taste of coconut oil so I started using MCT oil its derived from coconut oil and it seems much more potent to me. If you are in the UK you can get it at holland and barratt.
36mg is quite a high dose if that’s what you started on! 18mg would have been better to start I take 20 mg a day of Ritalin and I don’t even know I’m on medication until I realise how much stuff I’m getting done and how patient I am! 🙂
I relate a lot to the feeling of the drug building up in the system. It felt like the positives were getting weaker and the crashes at the end of the day were getting worse. I tried taking breaks on weekends and it didn't work well. After a month I couldn't take it anymore and I quit. For almost a week I felt terrible. After the week I felt kind of great (the constant brain fog and general tiredness didn't feel too bad compared to severe depression from the crashes and withdrawal). Now I'm kind of terrified in stimulants in general. My negative experience may have been due to possibly being misdiagnosed with ADHD. I think I have SCT instead if not both. Shame that I can't be fixed.
@@MA-xd9zl Sorry for not responding earlier. The first weeks it felt like a miracle drug. It basically seemed to fix all my problems. I wasn't socially anxious, I was deliberate and intentful, and I felt like I was better at quick decision making.
@@aprilhassell1747 I was kind of confused by the terminology because tolerance made me think "the body is more used to it, so negative (and positive) effects should be less noticeable. Still kind of surprised how quickly and extreme it was. I was a naive fool.
@@ghostmissingno520 it’s ok. How you doing now? Hope better. I been taking it and noticed it improved A LOT my energy, not sure why but apart from all adhd symptoms I was also really tired all day no matter how much I slept and found out that this medication also helps with chronic fatigue so.
I'm feeling blessed to not experience any anxiety type side effects. I'm also on Venlafaxine so I'm thanking that's a good thing now 😌 I Should add that I take an XR tablet in the morning and then an immediate short lasting dose in the evening to stop any crash until bed time.
As with most people that have trouble with this medication you did not use it as directed. Breaking the pills makes them more potent and more likely to cause side effects. Also the purpose is not to elevate yourself to an unnatural level of attention it's a stepping stool not a 12 foot ladder.
Hello, doing my basic youtube research on the medication I'm about to start. I just wanted to remind some people that even though some pills have that line in them, it doesn't mean they're supposed to be snapped in half in any case. Some have them just to make them easier to swallow. Beats me how they're supposed to help in that, but read the labels carefully before snapping them :) Some might have substances that really irritate or even damage stomach on some degree. Have a nice day. Edit: Didn't notice this was already pinned.. :)
You have this completely backwards. You need to take it daily so your body gets used to the stimulation, that’s how you avoid anxiety side effects. If you’re having anxiety after daily maintenance you need to go down on your dose or look at other things you’re taking/ingesting like caffeine or agmatine that increase side effects.
Hi, I've just done exactly what you did! I love my coffee and tea. Drank too much with my Concerta, I've been on it for only 3 weeks but took it every day. I went up from 18 mg to 36 mg and then back down and now I'm off it. I feel absolutely dreadful today and really feel overwhelmed and anxious. I don't think stimulants are right for me, they always seem to be good in the beginning and then the anxiety takes over and if anything my ADHD becomes worse. Thanks for the video!
Don’t cur Concerta. It does not decrease the dose, will give you 4x dose. Because when not snapped/ not broken, it releases slowly. But cutting it removes the slowness and releases all of it at once.
Hello, I just started 18mg today I have never felt this clear headed for the duration of a whole day. It's been great I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Im a little nervous because the world of medication is new to me.
I first feel that your information on addiction and recovery of Methyl-- is regarding those who do it either illegally or high doses. The medical dosages have been researched tremendously and it thus far has shown to not cause addiction. Another odd thing is that you randomly stopped taking Concerta, no tapering at all, which is a terrible idea. I feel that you basing off this video from a experience of cold-turkey stoppage is an inaccurate way of doing things. I'm not attacking you, I know you're honest and genuine at heart, I just think the context is vital here.
It's the same for me... the first days, I love it , i'm in a good mood and I'm focused. As the days go by, I start getting anxious and depressed. The appetite loss start affecting me a lot more... Eating less for 1-2 days is ok, but after a while you become weak. My psychologist says it's a very common pattern... so the people that are upset that you mention not taking the meds everyday can buzz off cause it is common.
So you're not on Concerta then. This has a pause builtin. If you take it at around 8am it stops delivering during lunch time and start again after that. I have no problems "getting off" from them. Could also be that people that expirience this are not really AD(H)D people. There it can develop addiction
I took concerta once a day until suddenly i didn’t feel anything at all. The more concerta i took the more i felt like i was falling down a flight of stairs, it made my voices easier to focus me down. I was way happier going cold turkey and having voices that went nowhere. Maybe just me.
I logged in to tell people this, what he is taking is not concerta. It's the same drug (methylphenidate) but not concerta, which has OROS, basically means concerta is released slowly because it has layers of wax. The medication he shows in this video is not dangerous to split, where as concerta it is because you break the wax layer. However slow-release medications can build up if you have gut problems, so his theory could be true. Also methylphenidate increases norepinephrine in the brain, which is one of the factors for anxiety. If you wanna avoid some of the issues he talks about, I recommend taking weekends off, and holidays where you don't need it.
I love your channel sir please keep making them I have add I got told at 28 years old I feel like a mess in my head but i to everyone else I’m a great guy so I think it’s the help I get from you sir so thanks very much 😊😊😊💪💪🤙🙌🏻🙏
If it wasn't for the sex drive, and not being able to orgasm even after a whole day of watching porn, It wouldn't be that bad... It keeps you from reaching the climax and it sucks.
I have had worsening anxiety the longer I take it!! I humbly admit I am conditioned to it now and dependent on it. Agree with you about the coming down feeling. I tried splitting the time release tablets but it didn’t seem effective. Oh wow! I do the same thing with coffee: 3 cups a day and it is a terrible addition to concerta.
It is supposed to be used every day. In my point of view, the negative aspects comes from mild sleep deprivation on concerta, especially with coffee, which accumulates after a few days. Lowering the dose doesn't do much cause it stays in your body the same time. You probably need something to get you sleeping well like phosphatidyl serine, magnesium. If you want to avoid the negative effects of concerta, you should combine lower dose concerta with low dose strattera or Guanfacine (They take long time to effect). It takes a long time to get to the best result.
I have days where I take half dose, full dose and zero dose. Ritilin does help you access your best self and I have mood swings that are helped with the xanidate. I prefer short term release tablets but the doctors don't give those out anymore. They say it's exactly the same, but it's not . Higher side effects with prolonged release tablets. The anxiety is really bad after two days. So I do two days on one day off. It's what ever works best for you and your metabolism and how you process things The drs haven't got any idea what they are talking about when it comes to the meds they give unfortunately
@@reginaldmickensjr2195 I am aware long life pills will release faster. So I told my doctor about this method that I like to control it and yes cutting in half would create mass anxiety (tried it) you are right to warn people. Doctor advised the lower dose of 27mg and on other days I can have two depending on the kinda day I'm having. And so I don't get as much of a build up I take days off work to detox But it definitely helps me think more rationally in general. It's actually Soo wild how I can go from being a complete mess and feeling shit about it to not being a mess and not feeling shit about it
@@deborahstagg3978 After many years on ritalin and a straight 3 plus years on very high doses of concerta, I can tell you that what is happening is that other trauma and issues in life are being covered up by this drug. I would love to help people understand. how incredibly dangerous it is to take it for extended periods of time and especially at high doses. It is a struggle to function after getting off of it because your brain gets so used to the drug boosting your brain chemistry that it does not naturally produce those chemicals anymore. If you think about how radical the change is you'll realize how bad it is for you.

I just took this for the first time yesterday (1x 18MG at 9AM) and never again, for 2 hours it made my head clearer, allowed me to concentrate, and work. 2 hours later nothing happened apart from I had a headache and dry mouth, 2 hours after that I just wanted to sleep, then I went to bed at midnight and couldn't sleep till 6am due to anxiety, decided I'm never taking this shit again and have been a depressing crying anxious mess all day.
This simply means that this is the wrong medication for you. I had the same experience except without the productivity. The main benefit for me was emotional stability but that doesn't help me be productive. I moved to Dexedrine and found a healthy balance, especially since Dexedrine doesn't keep me awake at night anymore than my own thoughts do. My productivity has to be jumpstarted, and I need to use something (music, quick 5 minute workout, snack) to really unlock its potential. I also am prescribed 2 pills a day which gives me options since I don't necessarily need both doses if its a slow day overall at work etc.

I've been using this drug exactly (36mg) for 7 years (35yro). I have really similar sensations as you do. I can def relate. I was taking breaks here and there. Longest one was 6 months even. And few of 1month. It does seem like they body is developing tolerance to it quite quickly. Every single time I started using it after a long break I would feel amazing and with zero anxiety or bad side effects. But it seems that every time I use the drug for more than 6-7 days in a row I start to get anxious and paranoid thoughts are jumping all over. I suspect it is Mainly due to the sleep prevention I am getting using the drug. Fatigue is building up in combination with body getting used to the drug. Even physically I feel bad after using it long time. I get increased heart rate even when I'm not on it, some sort of uncomfortable feeling in chest etc.
Alexander, have you tried taking a melatonin tablet with your dinner. I was on 54mg for about 8 years and melatonin pretty much knocked me out at about 9pm when I took it with dinner. It really helped even though I didn’t miss a day of taking my medication.
Update!! I stopped concerta and went over to Elvanse. Concerta made me feel empty and anxious. Some times I could just stare at the screen for hour like a zombie. Elvanse came with all the benefits no side effects.
I wonder if taking too high a dose activates the pfc to the point where it starts to completely take over, leaving other parts of the brain behind? I'm trying out 54 mg and I would describe this experience as "hyperfocus". I think that might be why people say it "loses" it's effects? Hyperfocus is after all just as much an ADHD-symptom as lack off attention. I would not say this is the same as taking no concerta, not at all. But I get hyperaware of the environment, like little noises and things. I've been told concerta is generally safe, so it's kind of surprising to hear someone describe it as "dangerous". I've experienced some psychotic symptoms lately, even "hearing voices" the other night, due to sleep deprivation. It might sound scary, but it was really no big deal. Nothing like the terrifying things you hear about experiencing schizophrenia. I have experienced intense paranoia in peroids after starting to take it, but I think I've had it before so it's not a novel thing. I do get some psychical side effects though, when the medication wears off, and that worries me more than being on concerta. Right now (54 mg) I'm not really experiencing that many side effects, and those that I do experience are managable. But when the "crash" hits, my heart rate goes up, blood starts flowing to my face, I get pain in my body. None of which is too terrifying in itself, but my one concern is: Is it possible to do long term damage? Can I develop physical and mental health symptoms I did not already have before, and will I be able to manage them so they don't interfer with my life and prevent me from living in the way I would want to down the line? I can deal with temporary pain, but I don't want to make any mistakes that will come back to haunt me later. Also, just to avoid confusion: I have been prescribed 54 mg by my doctor, I am still in the "trial phase". I don't think I will continue long term but I want to get a good understanding of it first. So I am not "abusing" the drug so to speak.
I´m taking 36mg and like you said, it´s losing the effect... I really want to start taking 54mg but I have the same questions you are concerned, but anyways, the experience was good or bad?
I do the same thing as you with doctoring myself you should really speak with ur psychiatrist on you doing these different doses and breaking them apart in half and sometimes you take the dose other times you don't. I think speaking to your provider will help a lot if you have any questions
It is not effectively two 18 mm tablets, a third of the capsule is the push layer, a substance that is not medication, it absorbs water and expands to push the medication in the other half out of the capsule. So you were basically taking nearly the entire dose all at once.
addiction and dependency is not the same! Addiction is when you do something that hurts you and you even know it but you ingore the fact and go on. We are all dependent on something like a diabetes person who need insulin to live. So dependency is when a situation that you have no control over forces you to do something or you have big drawbacks

Atomoxetine is designed to build up in your system , hence it takes time for it to work. Ritalin isn't known to build up in your system. It gets eliminated within 36 hrs. The story changes with the receptor build up , where it can lead to desensitizing. Half of receptors can reduce to half in a few days.
I was on a high dose of ritalin for over 7 years, coming off it has been terribly difficult, the depression was the worst I've ever experienced I'd have to start back on a low dose. Im now nearly 4 weeks from my last dose and the withdrawal effects have been barley noticeable in comparison to all my failed previous attempts. This was due to me switching to a carnivore diet, I switched to this way of eating then after 3 weeks noticed I was actually forgetting, yes forgetting to take my ritalin and I've not looked back since. Anyone struggling to get off this medication should consider looking into trying this it's been quite remarkable for me.
I don't really like coffee, so I wouldn't drink it at all if I was on Methyphenidate (Ritalin & Concerta). I do like 1-2 strong cups of Irish tea, so I hope that's ok if I'm put on this. I know there's caffeine in tea as well but not as much as coffee. Still I'd pass on my beloved tea if I felt better which is more important!
This is exactly like me haha! Drinking, smoking, vaping, drugs, but never allowed it to become a serious addiction... One of the reasons I don't want to take methylphenidate is because of the anxiety build up

You can live without it. I came off of it after 5 years, 3 on Concerta at very high doses. It takes a long time for your brain to function properly again.
Hey! I stopped 10 years ago because Concerta made me numb. Once out of it I had those exact symptoms. Granted I went in adderral which made those symptoms even worse. Years later I was severely depressed and suicidal but I know it wasn’t me because I knew the me without concerta was a person who wanted to live. It got so bad I started having what felt like mild psychotic symptoms. My dr has previously prescribed me with antidepressants and antipsychotics. It was only temporarily but the antidepressant truly worked. I’m also seeking therapy. Please consider coming off just know that you should immediately seek help bc it will make the symptoms worsen. But if you’re not willing to risk it talk to your dr maybe you can be on antidepressants or other medication to lower those symptoms while taking Concerta. I hope you’re doing well!
@@mairam1072 Actually, after a long time off Concerta and going through a lot of depression I went back on. Not Concerta but regular release Ritalin at much lower doses. It does help. I was at 56 mg a day which was crazy. Now I take around 15 or 20. In a couple of doses. Prozac actually helped with the depression as well. I've done a lot of studying. One interesting think I came across was the chemical changes that can occur in the brain due to trauma. They have found that in PTSD patients brain scans showed lower levels of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. Science is finally making an impact in psychiatry. For me this took some guessing out. Because I had a PTSD episode about 13 yrs ago. Knowing this, I did my research and found that Prozac and Ritalin will assist with production of all of those. Ssri's only work about 40% of the time. I suspect after these studies that the reason is that there is not a big chemistry change in people without severe trauma. Or, it's different. Do your own research. I'll recommend the book "The body knows the score" by Dr. Weasel Van De Kalk. A leading expert for 40 yrs on trauma. Don't bother to read it if you're not going to do the work that he prescribes. We all struggle with that. Reading makes you feel good. Actially putting in the work for the healing is very hard. He's had incredible results though. Good luck. Hope this helps.
I've been drinking coffee since 15y/o every morning. Not one cup a day like you but a whole 30oz thermos for the past decade or so. Funny enough, I only get a mild headache for a day or so whenever I don't drink coffee for a couple days and that's my only withdrawn symptom). Since I'm very much like you - enjoy the alcohol buzz; have done some drugs; tried nicotine and vaping and didn't got hooked into any of those - I will follow ur tip and ask my MD for a slow-release methylphenidate and I will also switch my regular coffee for the decaffeinated version so I can keep my habit without getting many side effects.
Yeah same here I do not gett any withdrawals from coffee I think I just get a mild headache that I only notice because I never have headaches. I also never build tolerance like for my meds for adhd (adderall) and coffee and can have them everyday and the effect might be weaker but I still feel it even after a year of non stop
I experienced a "traffic jam" in my brain after 3-4 days and I would stop for some days, and then I would start again for 3 days and so on, but I was told it was wrong. It was like an addict. So I stopped it altogether.
I am supposed to be taking Concerta next month and I have GAD so mu Dr. wanted me back on my anxiety medication again before taking medication from ADHD. If you should stay away from caffine, does that mean you cannot drink soda's as well?
Well, if you read the packaging carefully and you have spoken to a psychiatrist about your Anxieties, then you should have not been prescribed Concerta. Also, Borderline, Depression, Tourette's and other things are clearly mentioned. If you don't have any of the mentioned "symptoms" then you're good to go, even make a break on weekends (as I do).
I’m confused do you have ADHD on some days but not others? This is not a good way to take stimulants for ADHD. I suspect your dosage is too high. When used appropriately adhd stimulants are not addictive and do not build up in your system.
i have been taking the same as you 36ml every morning i started on them when staring my first year in high school, i am now 21 for a couple of weeks i have been feeling depressed, and sad really bad anxiety and distance from people i have tried stop taking them had really really bad experience, i am not sure what to do. I'm not sure because im getting older the medication is wearing off me, or have i actually got depression any advice
Sorry to hear that. You should really go and talk to a doctor for a depression/anxiety diagnosis first- it is remarkably common with adhd. They'll probably prescribe you an additional medication or change the medication/dose you're taking now.
I used to take like 2 energy drinks a day and tons of coffe just to be able to function and if I didn’t it was awful doing anything but since my first day of medication I didn’t event crave or remember of caffeine. Is it just me? 😅
I have the exact same problem with alcohol and smoking and it is so hard because my friends only go out to parties so I always end up drinking. I started at 16 and now I'm 20 and can't control that... I might need to cancel some plans...
I took it every day for 3 years and I didn't eat lunch at all during that time. After my first 3 years my appetite returned to normal and I dont take it every day and I feel fine for some reason
I wish you didn't take coffee cause you are mixing up 2 drugs now and we dont know which side effect is from which and which is cause of the interaction.
None of us ADHD guys need stimulants. Drug companies are trying to assure us and our children that we are sick -No, we are normal. Just get out of your comfort zone, focus and get things done!
So I used to take concerta i could feel it enhancing my focus but it got rid of my appetite one time i didn't eat for two days straight because i felt like I didn't need it but when I stopped I felt like a I was starving so I had to get off it
I have lost 15 lb while taking concerta since last summer, I was 20 lbs over weight as well. Have you experience weight loss? I take concerta every other day. I take the 27mg concerta/Methylphenidate. I also noticed to much of coffee isn't good with the medication. I love coffee, I decided to take a break from coffee and I do noticed that anxiety is a lot less. Everyone is different. Thanks man for the video.
@@ADHDMastery I have a higher metabolism and I am wondering if my doctor didn't think that. I have to have an alarm to remind me to eat, or have a small portion of food. I started carrying a small lunch in my backpack. Helps me a lot to keep my mind focused and energy normal for my body to function the day.
@@ADHDMastery what?! I don’t really understand why but I just started concerta 18 mg and I am super hungry all the time and food tastes delicious us never before, I suppose to go up to 36 mg and 54mg if I need to but I really hope this feeling of super hungry stops. I just got my diagnose after struggling all my life, I am so happy and I really hope the medicine works well for me. Thank you for your videos 💝
ADHD Management sorry to bother you again mate! How do you know if your dose is too low or to high or if it’s working? I’ve recently started Ritalin instant release 10mg twice a day and I’m confused! What’s your experience maybe you could do a video. 🙂
ADHD Management doing research and staying on the Ritalin about a week now I don’t think your supposed to feel anything! I think you have to keep notes of your behaviour and how much your getting done and ask the people around you if they see any differences in your behaviour! From what I’m seeing online if you feel something your dose is likely to high! Just some food for thought! 🙂
Took vyvanse ans ritalin for 6 months. Has to stop cuz i was so fkn axious. I did abuse it at times too taking 60mg vyvanse with like 80mg ritalin instant release. That was amazing for around 6 hourS followed by a comedown that would last 2 days
I started taking concerta 2 days ago and when I take it I feel amazing like all of my worries are gone my whole attitude towards like everything just is amazing I’m so polite to everyone and I feel nothing but love for everyone and everything but I stopped for a day after taking for for only 2 days and I was just rude and I was mad for nothing and I was mean to my friends and my boyfriend I just had no desire to talk to anyone and so I took it again after that day and I was fine again but I’m afraid I’m gonna become addicted to it like as someone who has struggled with addiction in the past I know the warning signs but a part of me wants to ignore them idk if I should or not if anyone sees this give me your advice because I’m lost on what I should do
The addiction comes when you take the drug just to get those "withdrawals" to go away. Take it only when you need it and force yourself not to take it when you feel awful. I sometimes do a week-off and first few days are bad but then it just starts to feel like normal adhd I had before being treated.
Yes, please stop taking it it can be addictive. I was on it and I’m certain I suffered with mild withdrawal symptoms and critical mental health issues after I left it. Ask your dr about non stimulants. This medication isn’t bad but it’s different for everyone & if you’ve had problems with addiction it can lead down a bad place.
I've taken this for 10 years, and I'm 18. 54mg
Without Concerta it feels like a can read the same sentence 100 times and still not know what the subject is.
What? (After reading 100 times....)
This is the truest thing a man has ever said.
That’s me too!!! Lol
I feel that, even after 5 years off concerta I still can’t process information.
Makes sense because it's an extended release.. though line through tab could be confusing.
Older meds Tricylic antidepressants and Ritalin especially Concerta could lead to Arrhythmia, Chest pain, seizures, and may leaf to an overdose.
if you snap it in half you completely void the extended release mechanism and so it delivers the drug unpredictably
correct, you’re not supposed to halve it crush extended release medications unless instructed by your doctor

@@PSG81 diet coke

Thank you for your channel by the way.
@@GavinMaGrath Hey could you elaborate about the ayurvedic shirodhara treatment? How are you faring now by the way?
I cant function off it either. 10 months off. Slowly getting my energy back and kess brain fog.
Sounds like maybe you should just be on 18mg/ day and you would get the benefits as it builds in your system without the anxiety
I just don't take any on weekends
Noe Tim... You have described me exactly🥴🥴... 😢😢
Here are my strategies:
1 eat a nutritious well balanced diet and I try to eat some liver now and then.
Hi, can you explain how it was in the first weeks for you? And even if it’s SCT it’s the same medication (methylphenidate) so it should help
Its called tolerance...
Younhave this completely backwards...Do not take this drug. Are you not reading the comments of ppl that are now not functioning from taking this.
dude, don’t tell people to not take their meds just because you can’t take them as prescribed. it does not build up in your system.
I meant don't misuse the meds and to take it as prescribed. I wasn't taking it as prescribed.
Exactly
Hello, I just started 18mg today I have never felt this clear headed for the duration of a whole day. It's been great I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Im a little nervous because the world of medication is new to me.
How’s it going for you now?
im taking 27mg lmfao
Hello. How is working for you today?
I started on 18 mg 17 Years ago., and is now on 72mg. Works good for me.
THIS!!!!!!
If you wanna avoid some of the issues he talks about, I recommend taking weekends off, and holidays where you don't need it.
if I have high tolerance already should I stop cold turkey and how long should I stop using them before I can start using them once again?
I love your channel sir please keep making them I have add I got told at 28 years old I feel like a mess in my head but i to everyone else I’m a great guy so I think it’s the help I get from you sir so thanks very much 😊😊😊💪💪🤙🙌🏻🙏

But when you stop it you just get sleepy for 3 days.

Please speak with your doctor! He can explain why you come down and maybe help you figure out why and what to do to fix it!
Just drink decaf.
I love coffee with my morning Concerta dose
I actually don’t see myself as addicted to my concerta I take it everyday 27 mg and feel fine
Same I don’t even like taking it. I do wish it got me high like it does for other people
i take 36 and i just get fast heart rates and appetite loss
It is supposed to be used every day. In my point of view, the negative aspects comes from mild sleep deprivation on concerta, especially with coffee, which accumulates after a few days. Lowering the dose doesn't do much cause it stays in your body the same time. You probably need something to get you sleeping well like phosphatidyl serine, magnesium.
If you want to avoid the negative effects of concerta, you should combine lower dose concerta with low dose strattera or Guanfacine (They take long time to effect). It takes a long time to get to the best result.
thnks so much 4 all, u are my hero with that's videos :)

I prefer short term release tablets but the doctors don't give those out anymore.
They say it's exactly the same, but it's not . Higher side effects with prolonged release tablets.
The anxiety is really bad after two days. So I do two days on one day off.

I feel these pills are used for other peoples benefits more than our own.
I find myself more agreeable and less prone to kick up a fuss. When I stop taking them. I am fuming at myself for being soo agreeable in situations where I was a door matt.
I am exhausted when I take them and find sleep difficult. I hate concerta and take xanidate but only as a last resort and will go days and days with out.
I gained weight on all meds and since using it as last resort my weight has dropped by 4 stone.
I disagree with my initial view point now I have had much more experience xxx

I took like five 54 mg tablets for my forst time recreational ly and now im fuckin scared pukin up flem and stomach acid

Thanks for the info. I recently got diagnosed with adhd at the age of 35. I've struggled with it all my life and want to tr this medication. I'll come off coffee and use this instead and take 3 days off a week. Does that sound ok?

@@mysobermission2509 yes it works very good. I dont go over 36mg a day ..18mg most days. I get it in 18mg tablets and take either one two a day.Tolerance builds up quick so good to take a break from it. Take it early morning so it doesn't disrupt sleep.

@@Sultanofdarts why did you stop taking it and how was coming off of it?
You had what?? Multiple cups of on top concerta ??? That’s mad! I would be a total mess if I did that. I feel perfectly normal on concerta
None of which is too terrifying in itself, but my one concern is:
Is it possible to do long term damage?
If i drink coffee, i become useless untill the anxiety is gone
I use ashwaganda for this. Lowers cortisol levels.
I do the same thing as you with doctoring myself you should really speak with ur psychiatrist on you doing these different doses and breaking them apart in half and sometimes you take the dose other times you don't. I think speaking to your provider will help a lot if you have any questions
How are you doing now ?
Reads a whole book and rushes out the whole time on how unbelievable this is and then forget the name
I can’t control my heart rate when I’m off concerta
It is not effectively two 18 mm tablets, a third of the capsule is the push layer, a substance that is not medication, it absorbs water and expands to push the medication in the other half out of the capsule. So you were basically taking nearly the entire dose all at once.
You either live with the ADD symptoms or live with the addiction to stimulants. A couple of the most popular ADHD drugs are Schedule II in the US.
addiction and dependency is not the same! Addiction is when you do something that hurts you and you even know it but you ingore the fact and go on.
We are all dependent on something like a diabetes person who need insulin to live.
So dependency is when a situation that you have no control over forces you to do something or you have big drawbacks
Getting medication allowed me to become financially stable. Meditation/yoga/exercise did not help as much as Concerta.
Wellbutrin is off label for adhd and not a controlled substance… dose not cause emotional bluntness either. Wellbutrin is an antidepressant but does work for adhd in some people… I have seen relief on Wellbutrin.
@@sazzowl_gaming8203 you’re literallt describing what people with adhd have to do, see what you don’t understand is that in order to function properly in society we must take these drugs that help us focus but they also increase our mental health symptoms… we know this is true because these symptoms come during the time we take them or immediately after we stop which are actual withdrawals… then we go back to the medication even though we know it hurt us because we can’t live without since we can’t deal with our symptoms properly without it. It’s the cycle of addiction.
This video helped me a lot because I started off on a low dose of 18mg then 36mg then 54mg and then I was given a 10mg for after school and when I was put on 54mg I spiralled down hill I started abusing them I started snorting the 10mg to get the high off they and it’s really and I mean really hard to stop and the side effects I got was anxiety depression and paranoia and I am now on 36mg and the 10mg but still abuse the 10mg but I want anyone with problems to speak to me because I don’t want anyone to get to where I came because it’s dangerous and I started when I was 15 because that’s when I was diagnosed but I have had ADHD all my life I was diagnosed so late in my life I am now stuck with learned behaviours but to anyone young or old were in this together and the drugs can help but beware they can lead to addiction not just with concerta adderall ect it can lead to other drug addiction like I sue to smoke weed everyday stoped now but I tried other drugs like ketamine but I just want everyone to stay safe and enjoy life without the downside of the pills thanks for reading!!
Hey man am not gonna lie this sounds exactly like me, the time line is a bit off but other then that I can’t stop doing it, when I try to talk to people they say oh it’s your meds you’re meant to take it but I’m really struggling to keep a handle on not spiralling, I tried asking my doctor for less but I just started abusing the 10mg pills so now I dunno what to do.
The drug made me super flighty like I was way to amped
interesting what you said about coffee. I used to drink loads but now i'm on 50mg elvance and ive had to stop drinking it as my anxiety was terrible.
How old are you? I tried carnivore in withdrawal but my brain got so wozzy i needed carbs. Ill try again
You need to take your meds as prescribed by your doctor. This is wild 😮
Run as far away from your dr.
@@justinelweir2161 it doesn’t tho? Maybe some teas do
This is exactly like me haha! Drinking, smoking, vaping, drugs, but never allowed it to become a serious addiction... One of the reasons I don't want to take methylphenidate is because of the anxiety build up
So true
Real concerta has a patented time release plug, only the generic crap can be split . The generic is hell on earth. Real concerta looks like a grey barrel shaped pill that can not be split.
I've been taking concerta everyday for about 3 years... I totally hate it because those severe anxiety and suicidal tendencies that concerta gave me... But I can't live without it neither
@@GavinMaGrath sorry I’m really curious on what helped you?! I’m asking because I’m off meds but think I might need them again.
Keep the caffeine low dose, then it isn't a problem

Just split the powder in half and store away the other half to take later.
it's Aweful getting Anxiety from this Med, adderall has never Givin me that.
Please dont break an Xr in a half
When I ran out and been getting the run around from the doctors office 4 days without I had a bad head ache
If they have holes and aren't mixed inside wouldn't breaking it only give you a fraction of the compound?
