  • What up guitar addicts. We are back with a review of this killer Tagima TW55 Woodstock series telecaster guitar. I have had this guitar for about a month now and I wanted to give you my first impression and a little taste of how it sounds. It is a great guitar with an awesome neck and I am impressed with how great it plays. It could use some better pick ups and i am not in love with the quality of the bridge but i have yet to meet a tele i did not like.

    Not sure what happened with the previous comments but I saw your reply and it was very helpful. I decided to go ahead and order the Slick SL54T in the Black Ash finish. I was leaning into getting my first tele style up until the last minute but my love for strats and humbuckers took over. Your videos were very helpful in making a choice. Thanks again and keep on strumming my friend:)

      I love strats too but there is something about the slab body with no contours on a tele that puts the guitar in your hands at just the perfect angle. Teles just have something special about them.

      @@Addicted2Guitar You are so right. I will be watching their inventory as I size up this "super strat" with designs on grabbing a SL50 or SL51 down the road. In the great Strat or Tele debate i think "both" sounds like the best answer, especially at these prices;)

    good honest review. most people try to make these sound like a gem. at the end of the day its a 200 buck guitar with cheap parts.

    A local shop carries these and I've been impressed with what I've seen. What other tele style guitars would you put in the same category of prive to performance? Anything you've owned or tried that would be an even better value than this Tagima model?

    I just got one and it has a modern bridge. No edges and saddles like a Strat. Also, somewhere I heard that the radius was 7.25 but I can't remember where. I can't seem to find stats anywhere. I guess I'll need to measure myself.

    Does any Tagima owners or dealers have an accurate measurement on the fretboard radius? I've heard everything from 9.5" to 16."

    Right now, the Tele I'm most curious about is the Aria Pro ll 615 line, TL, MC, Frontier, and Nashville models.

      @@jorgeguitar2540 no problem man. It was a good question. I think the 3 saddle bridge would work well on this guitar. I think the neck on these guitars are better that what u get on squires at this price point.

      The 2020 model that I just ordered appears to have 6 saddles in the bridge. Here's the link I ordered from: reverb.com/item/35162851-tagima-tw-55-2020-sunburst

    How would you compare this Tagima to the Harley Benton TE-52?

    • @Addicted2Guitar
      @Addicted2Guitar  3 года назад +1

      Oh man i would love to but i haven't gotten my hands on a Harley Benton yet. They seem to be in the same price range and Phil McKnight from Know Your Gear said both brands are very high on the quality list for that price point.

    • @Supperconductor
      @Supperconductor 3 года назад +4

      I was all set to order the HB TE-52 but I saw the same Phil McKnight video where basically said the the Tagima compares favarobly to Squiers at twice the price. Plus the Tagima was available from a local dealer - which should be a lot easier to return if I decide to do so. I always support local dealers whenever possible, especially now.

      @@Addicted2Guitar So I got it in record time. First it seems I got the 2019 model instead of the 2020. The difference seems to be that the 2019 comes with 3 barrel saddles instead of 6. Not a big deal for me, especially considering that I got a partial refund from the vendor. So, the neck is as you describe, definitely shallower than a Fender medium C and feels like a D but definitely not as thin as Ibanez Wizard. Next, I do find a bridge pick-up a bit spiky in the treble but I'm sure I can dial that down with the EQ on my Katana Artist. Both pickups sound really good overall and I'm in no rush to replace them. The tuners on my sample were all better than expected, smooth, solid and stable. Note that there is an adjust screw on the tuner knob that can fix most issues. Again, no need for replacement here. The neck finish is quite thick and yes I prefer less finish and less gloss. This can be buffed out to be more satin and then rebuffed to shiny if so desired. I'm finding it OK for now. The frets are all well done and level. For such a flat neck I was quite surprised that string bends choked out on my model also. I was able to fix that by slackening the truss rod - which I have had to do on all my guitars. I now have a pleasingly low action with no choke points. The intonation out of the box is good enough. There was no noticable neck dive on my guitar, it feels balanced. Overall fit and finish is excellent - output jack plate is metal and all knobs and swiches feel ironically premium. The nut is a nice low height and cut well. I noted very little hum for single coil pickups. Overall I'm very happy with the guitar, feel free to hit me up with any questions. The only upgrade I'm considering is brass saddles but not sure how much of a difference that will make in the tone.

      @@Supperconductor Dude that is awesome. So glad you are happy with it. You know i prefer the 3 barrel saddles on this guitar, the 6 saddle one i have was not as great as i was expecting. Sounds like you got a great guitar. Thanks for letting us know how things are going with it. I am also happy you enjoyed the videos enough to be a part of the conversation. Rock on.

    Tagima custmoer service has to be the worst in the industry. If you have a problem, you are on your own. In my opinion, you should stay away unless you like to fix things yourself. The thing with a Squier is, you have access to fender customer service. In my opinion, a Squier bullett or affinity series is a better value. A yamaha pacifica is a much better value. Just my opinion.
