Having that Em-F-Em sequence in the progression really emphasizes the flat 2! Also it occurs to me that one way to feature the flat 2 when soloing is to do a 1/2 step bend up from the root - which you generally DON’T want to do, but it works with a Phrygian progression.

I like the "hemitonic" pentatonic that exists within Phrygian: E - F - A - B - D - E. So, the Phrygian mode without its third or sixth scale degrees.

I'm really glad I found your channel. I tend to over complicate things .I know a good bit of theory , my fretboard chords etc. But just was not soloing at least something I was happy with. You helped me to slow it down start simple . And your video on phrasing .... Pure gold !

You have come a long way since I first started watching you four or five years ago I believe. I met you back three years ago at Arbor Freight store in Bradenton, I believe you were purchasing a generator for your RV. Congratulations on becoming a great teacher with confidence and great knowledge of music!

I have a recommendation for a future lesson that I believe would build on the success and momentum of "The NeverLost Pentatonic System" series. As you mention, this is a framework and there is so much available beyond it. How about doing a lesson that demonstrates common bends, hammer-ons and pull-offs, rhythm etc. that would enable more musicality to this skeletal structure. I believe this would be greatly appreciated and build on all the aha moments generated by your generous lessons. I know I would. Thank you and all the best!!

This really helped to dispel the mystery behind the phrygian mode and scale for me.
I've been learning for about 18 months, so am still very much at the pentatonic stage.... But I hear these other sounds like phrygian and it all seems a little out of reach.
    This really helped.

Hmm why am I stuck on penta box #4 for Phrygian and penta #1 for aoliean? They are the same?
If B Phrygian is GM who's minor 6th is Em then just move box #4 up 5 frets for C Maj ! I think I just answerd my own question :)
