Turki Alalshikh has almost changed the boxing game in recent months, From Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou came all the fights we have ever wanted to see now being made. But how did Turki Alalshikh get here? How did he get Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn both working in harmony? And how comes after years of waiting for Anthony Joshua Deontay Wilder Tyson Fury and Oleksander Usyk to all fight eachother is Turki and Saudi Arabia able to make it happen now?

I respect the way he is straightening out the boxing world by making sure that the best fight the best. Guy actually wants the lineal champion to be finally realised instead of endless cronyism.

Previously, in the US, HBO boxers didn’t fight Showtime boxers. Now, Saudi money is making boxers from rival boxing promoters to fight each other.
Exactly, making big fights, offering big money but also not afraid to pull if demands are too huge or negotiations unfair. Boxing’s needed such a third party for a long time to cut through the promotional company politics.

I love this channel to no end and i’ve watched every fight and will watch the fight put on by Turki Al-Sheikh but the underlying motivation of “sportwashing” cannot be overlooked. There exists an underlying motivation to present the kingdom of Saudi as something that is not through funding sports projects.

USA hosting the next world cup, anyone call that sports washing for the atrocities they commit year round around the world? Or when UK held the 2012 Olympics was that sports washing for the horrors we committed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Russia hosted the 2018 world cup, china hosted the 2008 Olympics where was this energy for those events. Basically the only countries that can afford major sporting events are countries that have committed the vilest acts in recent history, because those vile acts are how a nation gains wealth unfortunately

This is only a temporary era of change. Whenever this guy is gone, the Saudis will still inherit his monopoly over boxing. Over time, the Saudis controlling/funding boxing will reach a golden age (like it did in Madison Garden with Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali), and then it’ll go down hill (Tyson ducking Foreman, Morrison ducking Tyson, Bowe ducking Lewis), until we receive another era like this one. . Which goes without any explanation necessary.

The main thing that prevents the best fighting the best in today's boxing format is money.
The big names used to demand millions, now its tens of millions (each).
Not all bouts generate 10s of millions needed to bring these boxers together.
....and the Saudis may cause more harm than good by throwing these vast amounts around.

Lots of fighters abroad have in the past had sights seton making it to the US boxing scene. Now there is another
Boxing is full of ego-driven fighters who are only making real money at the very top, therefore the only thing that can save boxing in general is a massive amount of money being dispersed. All of the excuses we have to hear, all of the years and years we have to wait on 2 men to fight in a ring, it's the only conclusion. It's ALL about money, and when it comes to the amount of money, it needs to not just match their ego, but skyrocket past what their egos already demand.
Boxing is on a lifeline with this money, let's hope that we can keep up the consistency and see some more real boxing, it's been a long time.

It's would provide years of credible, fan friendly fights and fix boxing of its commercial and political priorities. Would take millions, but.....

I understand why there's people that get a bit put off by all the Saudi cards because of the crowd just not really seeming to care but the fact of the matter is boxing was taking another massive nose dive and Turki Alalshikh has been the only person with enough money and passion for the sport to just say "fuck this" pay out of pocket to make the fights happen that we all want to see. The fact he's got Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren to work together says it all. He makes things happen. And that's what we need in boxing. I think the Saudis are actually going to start doing shows in the UK too and at that point I don't see how you could complain. I think the only thing left at that point would be to complain about "Sportswashing" but once you've started invoking things like that you've sort of lost anyway because that's all irrelevant to the quality of the shows we're getting which is all you should really care about unless you YOURSELF are trying to Sportswash.
