The Kid Steve McQueen gets himself into trouble playing with some amateurs on the wrong side of the tracks. - Игры
Steve McQueen's classic one of his best roles a card shark.
Great beginning to a great movie. Includes a poker game with the best cast of characters ever assembled..
Close, but 12 Angry Men.
This movie is a masterpiece
the coolest actor ever... I always wanted to be Steve McQueen!!!
Great Line...." I don't need marked cards to beat you Pal".
i dont need marked cards to beat you pal
Only Steve could make this scene a memorable classic. That put down & smirk.
Favorite scene in the movie.
Steve McQueen could have been a great James Bond like a young Daniel Craig
McQueen had taste in the parts he played.
Not tall enough
Great movie, surprising end and lots of cigars. I like!
Le jeu minimaliste de Mcqueen.
Impeccable
amazing movie...great scene
1:48 - Now that's how you clean up a dirty player
"Buster" played Wyatt Earp
in the Star Trek episode with the gunfight at the OK Coral
That's Ron Sobel, a.k.a. rat face Ron. Always played a thug.
great scene
Good movie
Why didn't he go straight outside after the game instead of getting trapped in the deadlock? Kid could read the bluff in Buster's face but did not foresee the danger after his opponent was obviously not amused at all?!
Oh of course, then we would have missed this great scene!
You raise a good point, and, of course, you're right that the smart move would have been to get out of the joint entirely. But this early scene was not written just to create some action. More important, this scene tells us something about Steve McQueen's character in the picture. He doesn't always play the smart move and is willing to take great risks, sometimes when he should know better. This wonderful scene, in a way, actually foreshadows the tense climax to this classic gambling movie, even though the ending seems like a surprise. When you think about it, the ending is not as surprising as it appears. The gambling decision McQueen's character ultimately made in the end actually reflected a flaw in his character shown in the very beginning in this scene.
I think I know what you mean. He does not simply want to win, but wants to win a fair game and thus does not run away from the game like a thief, even when in danger. He knows, having played a clean game, he has the RIGHT to stay.
Same way in the great game against the King, when he does not want the dealer to cheat in his favour, even if that means he could lose, which finally happens.
that bothered me too. The kid would have been smarter than that and it wasn't necessary.
@@markmerzweiler909 every character has to have a key flaw. If there is no flaw, there is no story
Terrence Stephen McQueen, nicknamed the "King of Cool." Yeah, 1:49. The perfect edgy smirk. What other actor could pull this off? Paul Newman, maybe.
Window sealed up to prevent break-ins.
The Kid would've still kicked his ass.
If I play a poker game like this I insist to bring a new deck of cards unopen
ben saucedo there is a trick to mark cards and wrap it like it was never been touch.
GivesAShit what you insist?
Cram your insist.
I had trips =3
sick
Yes
thats action! such a cool escape too!
Losing poker players at small stakes get this salty when they lose to you
You speak as if you have been on the losing end most of your life.
Sometimes winning a small pub pool wager can be dangerous.
gime the munni
Amazing hip hop sample opportunity
Best line in the movie.😆
great scene from a good flick
Filmed in All-New PixelVision!
great video, folks :)
The guy gives himself away when he opens his mouth. McQueen was trying to read it, and as soon as the guy spoke he knew he was bluffing.
this was Jerry Seinfelds first role
Wrong. It's Seinfeld's dad...
really?
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Orem,UT.
I remember seeing this film when it came out, soon after “the Hustler “ I kind of thought it was a copy of “ the hustler “ only with cards. I can’t remember when I wondered why they played with cash and not chips. I was only 6 in 1961 ( hustler) and 10 in 1965 for Cincinnati kid. We lived in a small town with one movie theater so I can’t remember when movies finally made it to us. I doubt we got first run flicks.
Why wouldn’t they have used Chips? It would be easy to explain buy in to novices.
Wonder how many times stuff like this happened to Brunson, in his youth!?
He leaves at the perfect time, when you make a correct light call even today it can make people very volatile, you'll get the money though.
what does a light call mean? just curious
Marlon James a call with a weak hand
lots of times if you read his book supersystem 2 .He be on the wrong end of a shotgun on more then one occasion
wouldn't surprised us at all
these are questions which may never be answered.
Say what you will about Phil, but the Brat NEVER said his opponents daubed the cards :P
It's a great film. One of the best gamblers. Still don't get why 5 card Stud poker died out in the US early 70s. Some player kinda x'd it?
Anyone catch the sound effect at 0:37? 😏
N64’s goldeneye 007, when you get shot
Just after the guy raises and says, It will cost you 194 fish... what does the dealer and the guy to his right say at :38?
Es muerta.....yo tambien......hands dead....same here
Yes Newman and Redford were brilliant. ..but Robert. Shaw stole the Movie
yer foller?
Lmao wrong movie bud
I think they need to fire the sink cleaner.
What sink cleaner?
so...how common were leather jacket back in the 30s?
But Juanda had trips.
Yup
sick
When it's time to exit a place, no shame in running.
That's right. Live to fight another day.
Couldn't just OPEN the window?
What if the razor blades happened not to be there?
But what if Steve had had a 44 Magnum in his pocket?
Then the prop man would have been fired.
Robert Gift. He had paper money in his pocket, he could have given him a paper cut! Ha Ha
Probably put them there earlier anticipating a moment like that
I dont need to mark cards to beat you pal
So much smoke. Looks like you'd get lung cancer in about five minutes sitting at that table.
bar stools and bus stops.
And hillbilly mu-sic,
the lonely, kinky places I've called home.
Dude got beat with a lousy pair and a lousy 1 blade razor.
lmao what a chump
I don't need marked cards to be you chump
Another metaphor for the 2016 presidential election. Buster is Trump claiming the election is rigged. McQueen is Clinton saying, "I don't need marked cards to beat YOU, pal."
johnbohl is that why the Democrats ship voters to swing states, pay people to disrupt rallies and don't want picture ID for voting???
Move_I_Got_This Your paranoid right wing conjecture proves my point perfectly.
And I am sure you believe Bush didn't buy both elections. ...
johnbohl it has been proven many times
johnbohl lmao more like trump says "i dont need celebrities and mainstream media to beat u bitch"
HE FRIGGING WON
