I think what excites me the most about Cruz most of these homeruns were clutch, whereas they tied the game, came with two outs in an inning. It sucks he's injured right now, but I have a feeling once Cruz returns, he will return with a vengeance.
He's currently tied for most HR in spring training. He looks like hes added 10-15lbs of muscle too. This comment has aged well. This season will be nuts
Big thing here is a lot of these we’re going ahead homers or game tying hits. Especially against guys like DeGrom, Burnes, Sandy. Not many rookies can do that
I loved Tony Watson as the 8th inning (setting up Melancon) man on those good mid 2010s Pirate teams. Then when he was traded he brought us O'Neil Cruz. Awesome Tony, awesome!
Everybody wanted to run Cruz out of the city when he was hitting 7th and striking out. When I said they needed to put him at leadoff when Bryan Reynolds came back from injury that's exactly what they did for the majority of his 2022 season everything changed, his pitch recognition, his power numbers, his average. A young hitter is not going to learn to hit major league pitching when all he sees is garbage hitting lower in the order. Clint Hurdle never figured that out with Pedro. The two best years Pedro ever had with his average playing full time were the two years he didn't play for Clint, his first season in Pittsburgh and his first season in Baltimore.
@@canyonswartz3106 Bet you hundred dollars, I am correct and you will look foolish when it happens. Name one player that has been really good that they have retained in the last 20 years. The pirates will not win any pennant or playoff series as long as they have the current ownership. The current ownership doesn't care. They pretend to but, their actions speak louder than their media output.
I agree. I stopped watching them YEARS ago because they wouldn't give anyone with talent a contract, instead they traded them to a big name team for draft picks that they could make into more trades. For a while I thought this was going to change, but it only lasted a couple of years and now they're back to the same old thing.
@@canyonswartz3106 Since your original comment doesn't show, and since I answered Dennis not you, your thoughts are unimportant. In other words, "who cares". 😉😁

And a lot of these pitches are WAY down in the zone, too. Low balls like that aren't usually dingers unless you're Mike Trout or Cal Raleigh.
what a damn freak of nature
I'm looking forward to the NL Central being this incredibly mid division that just happens to have two absolute genetic freaks in Oneil and Elly.
Cruz has one of the prettiest swings in the league.
The prettiest. I swear. I'm obsessed with this very thing (the art of the swing) and Cruz has my vote.
Absolutely loving his shots !!!
You could have worded that better
@@lukasbrand1848 sorry I’m Japanese
@@kaya_leo_lou It's all right it just sounds kind of dirty in English. But yeah his homers are awesome.
@@lukasbrand1848 hahaha I got the point ! Oneil the GOAT 🙌🙌🙌

Biiiiiiiig bat speed. Once he gets more used to major league pitching I wouldn’t be surprised to see him regularly at the 35+ mark
That last one is actually insane. Off deGrom and it looks like a single at first.
he had a double off the wall in the same game against deGrom, missed a homerun by a few feet
He tips his hat at home
Yea man he’s cold as hell yo !!!😎🥶
The first clip they showed was from 2021
I peep the Andrew McCutchen plate crossing celebration
4:31 my favorite homer

He has some beef with Milwaukee, 6/17 homers were against the Brewers 😭😭💀
Homers off of Corbin Burnes and Jacob deGrom....top 3 SS in the league by year end imo.

🔥🔥🔥
Crazy the pitches he takes yard. Not even pretty pitches.
That first one was from 2021

He'll get traded just as soon as he comes up for abig contract. The Pirates are nothing more than another farm team for the rest of MLB.
Shut up idiot
