i was laying in the hospital alone, in another city, very sick. watching the "cueto" game. barely could keep my eyes open. when russel martin hit that ball i popped up in bed, and screamed. i felt like i was at PNC park with 25,000 friends
The Bucs have a very rich history. I'm just going to stick with the mid 50's through the 70's though that would exclude anything to do with the 1909 and 1925 World Champions as well as the 1902 team which I consider the best Pirates team of all time though it was before the modern World Series. It also excludes players like Honus Wagner, Pie Traynor, and the Waner brothers, Paul and Lloyd. There's probably no existing video on at least some of these I've included. -Clemente's debut in 1955. -Dale Long hitting home runs in 8 consecutive games in 1956. -Harvey Haddix's perfect game for 12 innings in 1959, (he lost in the 13th). -Elroy Face winning his 18th game in relief in 1959 (he was 18-1 all in relief that year). -Clemente singles in Mays in the first All-Star game in 1961, winning the game in the 10th, (they played 2 All-Star games that year). -Bob Moose's no hitter against the Mets at Shea Stadium in 1969. -Dock Ellis' no hitter of San Diego in 1970, (and he was on LSD!). -Clemente's Home run in game 7 of the 1971 World Series and Jose Pagan's single driving in Stargell for the eventual winning run in the same game. -Rennie Stennett goes 7 for 7 against the Cubs in Chicago in a 22-0 rout in 1975. -John Candelaria's no hitter against the Dodgers in 1976. -Dave Parker throws out Jim Rice at third base and Brian Downing at home plate in the 1979 All-Star game. He also drove in a run by a sacrifice fly and was the game's MVP. You can see how much I think of Clemente by him being on this list 3 times though I'm sure if I dug a bit more, there would be more, (like hitting safely in all 14 World Series games he played in). Roberto was very special and I'm glad I got to root for him, (and the Pirates), growing up.
Man that 2013 team was good as a cards fan i remember being nervous during the entirety of that NLDS. U kicked are asses a lot that year. Looking at some of the video from that era The way your fans showed up was impressive as hell. That place was packed to the gills. Hope someday you get the team your city deserves
I miss the old team so much. Like maybe them 2010-2017ish kinda team. It makes me sad that in one of these clips the won their 90th game, and this year they’ve won 23 and we are like halfway into the season 😕
Man those 2013-2015 teams were something. I'm just amassed it all happened under Nutting. Then some idiot decided to break up that team for no reason and the whole organization has stopped giving a shit about winning now 😞
4:11 so I was there for this game, it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Hard to believe it’s been 10 years. The energy that night was incredible. Never felt like we were gonna lose, just knew it was one of those magical games. It’s funny, I remember going crazy when he dropped that ball, but I didn’t remember Martins homer being the very next pitch. Some of its a blur and other things I remember very clearly
I was at a double header at 3 Rivers when John Milner hit a walk off home run. Willie Stargell picked Milner up and carried him off the field on his shoulders with Milner fist pumping the air. I think that was around 1979. I was also at the 1971 night game World Series. Clemente hit a long ball just foul into the lower deck. He then walked but sprinted hard to first base. This fired up the entire stadium and it became electric because the Pirates were losing at the time. The next day Bobby Robertson didn’t see a bunt sign and hit the ball out of the park.
The John Milner grand slam walk off home run off of the Phillies' Tug McGraw on the very 1st pitch. The date was Aug 5th, 1979. That was also game 1 of a Sunday doubleheader of which they also won. The whole weekend was a 5 game series of which the Bucs won all 5 basically knocking the Phillies out of the playoff picture. The Pirates battled the Expos down the stretch. Great memories.
Those couple years pirates were good was when the owner was forced to spend more money on the team cause people finally stopped going an watching on tv. Soon as he had them back for good he cuts budget the next year and they go back to triple A pirates in the majors. I told people that thought this year was different that they are mistaking and sure enough they showed it. Until people stop going to the games or watching on tv the owner will continue to put this triple A team with an attraction player on the field. Spends 50-60 million on roster when they make 240 million a year.

Good to see the glory days, greetings from a UK Pirates fan.
I love Pittsburgh Pirates since I was little.
Go Bucs.
Raise The Jolly Roger.
That series against the Cardinals still brings me so much joy. The call was fantastic, the moment, the fans. It might be tied with the Cueto chant.
I,m from over the pond we need more nights like this ...
An underrated moment from the 2013 season was the Pirates beating the Reds in Cincinnati to give the Pirates the wildcard game in Pittsburgh.
i was there in person and still cry seeing the clips
Wow, I miss the 2013 pirates so bad.... what a great time 2 be a pirates fan
2015 was better I miss it
The 70's were a great time to be a Pirates fan...... 94 thru now not so much
The greatest moment in Pirates history will be the day Bob Nutting sells the team.
Exactly
I wish it would happen
@@dogpd3 cant stand our owner. He doesnt want a winning team all he cares about is money.
@@Battlefield_Master5430 ehh he is actually doing good now. Signed Hayes and Reynolds
@@bggraham83 Yeah, but what I’m saying is that he doesn’t want to pay for good players and have a team that can actually compete like we did in 2015.
need to have greg browns call with that last clip. Its amazing
The cutch walk off homer was one of the best Greg brown reactions

You missed Clemente's 3000th and last hit with him standing a top second base tipping his helmet to the crowd.
No future tho with the owner.

I’m getting goosebumps watching this
What about the 1971 Pirates and Roberto Clemente's 3,000
clarence hollowell he made a Part 2
Me?
That was in Part 2, along with Rennie Stennett going 7 for 7 in a game.
My 92-year old grandfather was at his house watching the 1960 World Series. When Max hit the walk off, he went so crazy he broke his couch!
Fun fact I live in Pittsburgh PA And I love all Pittsburgh sports teams even the pirates
Fun fact: The Pirates have had to go all seven games for each of their World Series titles
We’re Back! Reynolds, Hayes, and Cruz all locked up through 2028. We have the makings of a very good team for years
Nice video but you forgot Clemente’s 3000th hit
Piratesfan17 thanks
I’ll never forget “CUUUEEETTOOOO”
Don't drop the ball!

Steve Blass yelling OH MY GOD over and over still gives me chills.

Pirates Fan 4 Life!
Yessir 💛🖤💛🖤
Who is ready for some pirates baseball
I would trade Shelton for McClendon anyday
As a reds fan... That wild card game hurts.
Win No. 90 and Cueto ❤
Nice ! Bb trivia is my forte
im newer to baseball whats the story behind the play at around 6 minutes
He hit a walkoff homerun to win the game, but that was in the postseason, or right before the postseason, so that helped them to advance
0:54 wow Kendall was so safe
cuanto latino tiene piratas, como los apoyan. enamoran los piratas. es el equipo mas inclusivo.
Top of head i can name every player from 66 74 well almost 97 % at least
It cannot be the greatest unless it is called by Greg Brown. Greg is the very best in the business.
Too bad Cutch couldnt hit that in Game 5 vs STL bottom of the ninth with a man on and down 1.........
Not that great without no ROBERTO CLEMENTE ITS NOT THE PIRATES GREATEST MOMENTS
vincent farrentino calm down buddy.
0:48 Sorry, but I wouldn't consider this a great moment. 3:53 Now, that was a great moment!!!
stargell
So winning the World Series in 1909,1925, 1960, 1971 or 1979 were nothing compared to this?
Pirates fans are weird.
Really, not even Dock Ellis' psychedelic no-hitter?
Way too heavily skewed towards a couple recent years where the Pirates, ultimately, didn't win #$%&.
Rich McGervey check out part 2
McCLendon was a joke

mcclendon taking first base should not have been part of this.
You can say that. And you’d be wrong.
@@frostthedon5303 it’s true tho that’s not a moment it was a bad moment he got ejected these are all winning moments idiot
Amen! He steals mostoftheTV shared money and pays bupkiss fortalent.
This must be some kind of spoof. We're these really the greatest moments in Pirate's history?
