The scene where Louie thinks that it's his fault for not immediately accepting Della back is one of the most heartbreaking of the series, and it further fleshed out this triplet I've come to love
Well it's also true to how it works. Basicly only adult in his life that took care of him was Donald, not to meniton they already had plot line when one of their friends was just a shadow of Magica that she used to manipulate Wendy. The only connection they have is that Donalt told them she is their mom.
This is probably biggest magic of the show that acual family matter are realisticly reflected here.
Spoiler
On the note may be she has parts of her kids on her but also i like that anger connection she has with Donald. You know that time she destroyed manual because Gyro make fun of that rocket is so easy to build that even SHE can make it
Honestly Louie was such a well written character in the series
He may be the evil triplet, but he's also the most sensitive.
"I COULD HAVE BEEN, TURBO!!!!!!!"
- Dewey Duck (2019)
You're better off, Dewey. King Candy tried being Turbo and it didn't end well for him.
When i heard that, i litteraly screamed : OH MY GOD, SHUT THE F*** UP DEWEY !!!!
I don't like turbo. Reminds me of that bad power ranger season.
Turbo is better than Dewey
@@sharkanenoa5928 no parent in his/her sane mind would call their children jet, turbo and rebel. Glad donald was here to prevent that
Webby's reaction to seeing Della reunite with the boys was just the best thing ever. I was legit crying, especially with Louie's reaction and when the camera panned to her it made me laugh instead.
That scene was the perfect blend of great animation, writing and voice talent!
As someone pointed out to me, dewey actually has MET della, so his reaction makes sense. He has reference and can regonise her. Hewey also makes sime sense, hesitance than verification, like a scientist or true nerd. Louie, as the conman savvy guy, is looking for an angle and doesn't trust easily. So, the responses seem reasonable to me
Yes, I almost expected Della to say to Dewey something like, "Strange, I feel like I've met you before."
Dewey has kinda went through all the complicated feelings already, he missed her for years, he desperately tried to find out what happened to her, he had a crisis about if her mom was good or not, got angry at Scrooge and eventually, it's sort of implied he and everyone acepted she was completely gone and moved on.
Huey is mostly trying very hard to be supportive, he's the responsible one and mentioned in the episode that they have to give her a chance.
Louie tho, he reacted completely naturally based on how he is, he had no prior experience with her or need to be supportive.
Beyond the dramatic tension of keeping them apart a big longer, I think Donald's absence really served to underscore what a balancing influence he was on the boys and on Della.
She adores her boys and when it comes to adventuring, she rivals Scrooge in how she's able to bond with them through it. But the episode demonstrates her struggles in the domestic, low key nature of being a mom. A problem not just due to her disappearance, but because her very personality and instincts are of acting first and thinking later.
Her brother has his temper and bad luck, but his cautiousness, boundaries, and over-protection have helped the triplets to become the capable ducks that they are. It makes for an interesting potential journey for Della adjusting to the fact that the Jet, & Turbo, & Rebel she dreamed about taking on adventures, are a Huey, Dewey, & Louie that are very much Donald's kids in the day to day.
S3 will have them going againsf each other as the kids rightful parent. Lol
But thay had to be put on reserve to do the moonvasion storyline.
Best quote, “I could have been Turbo”. Lol
No its "IM WEBBY!!!!"
@@supermariovaughn1515 try my heart it’s too full
Most shows would keep Della lost forever, but Ducktales actually cares about plot and character development. Either way another great episode.
Or, if they ever did bring her back, it would've been a series finale.
Or maybe the episodes of della returning to earth and bounding with the triplets, are here because the writters are probably thinking of making della disappears again at the season 2 finale, as a way to make this moment even tragic.
@@Shuyin781 I hope not.
@@rocbenaa1963 me neither. But it's still a possibility.
I don't know, while its a nice lore reveal I wonder that it will disrupt the dynamic, they are essentially no longer Orphans a major part of their character motivations. I expect she is going to be parted from them again by the end of the season.
Part of me would love if the suspected season finale of a moon invasion is completely subverted by Donalds bad luck.
There's a theory on Reddit that says Donald is basically a "bad luck rod", in which he has a ton of bad luck, sure, but that it's a good thing for everyone else with him, because, since the bad stuff happens to him, they're safe from it. He draws all the bad luck to himself. So if that turns out to be true, he'll cause the invading forces so much bad luck, causing him to get hurt in the process (as is typical), but he'll end up destroying them because of it. Haha that'd be neat to see
Santos Chavez Della’s also a lightning rod for it, but she seems to bear it with good grace
that would be amazing, and so like Donald.
That could be since Donald could use his Luck as a weapon against them.
Santos Chavez That theory might be true. Remember how Donald’s bad luck destroyed Liu Hai in ‘The House of the Lucky Gander!’ after being the ‘good luck charm’ at the end?
Della doesn't feel like a new character. And that is pretty much the biggest compliment I can give the show
She feels like the hole that was left by the broken family, and she was the source of it. Her coming back completes the family fully coming together. It's satisfying.
@@watertommyz More importantly, by making her role in the backstory of the series extremely significant to the overarching story, she feels like she has to be there as a part of the grand symphonic movement that is the show.
I love the moment he drops the crystal/glass feather that leads to basically unlimited treasure and adventure. It really shows the impact on Scrouge. I love anytime it shows a meiser loving something more than money.
That was honestly my favourite part. Its a small moment but man does it show how much he missed her, even the money bin being almost emptied for her doesn't compare to this
That duck had his world shattered!!!!! Happily shattered!!!!
SCROOGE AND WEBBY ARE MEEEEE
That's because it's job was done. They just didn't have to go very far. ^_~
@@TTSnim that was what I thought it was leading them to, and Scrooge was going to say, "That's not right, it's right outside the door?" It would have been a small touch, but the scene still serves the same purpose. The true treasure is Scrooge's family.
The most recent batch of episodes have been pretty great. Louie's reaction definitely made the most sense considering what they deal with on a regular basis.
Della should legally change Dewey's middle name from "Dingus" to "Turbo." A compromise everyone can agree on, both on and off the show. XD
My reaction to this episode in a nutshell: "I have been crying for 30 Minutes!"
Loki?

“MY HEART!!!“
Excellent review; I missed the dining room callback to the first episode. However, you missed a big callback, too; both Della and Dewey went immediately to the garage after overhearing Scrooge say something and misinterpreting it (Dewey misunderstood his comment about family being "nothing but trouble", and Della heard Scrooge say she's "not a mom" without hearing him say that she still needs time).
Omg that makes that moment so much better. Love how much she embodies the boys
not gonna lie Dewey did not mishear scrooge saying "Family is nothing but trouble"
Three years later and I didn't notice that, :O
4:45 that scene of Della tipping the last pea into her mouth felt VERY classic Donald. I don’t recall the exact episode but I feel strongly there was a short that had Donald do a very similar act
I feel like Huey didn’t get a big moment in this episode and it made me a little upset Huey deserves more character development and I find it a bit unfair that Dewey and Louie have a lot more to their character. Maybe someday Huey will get what he deserves
The first season seemed to center around Dewey and so far in season two there's a bit more attention on Louie. Maybe Huey will finally get his own development in season three.
I absolutely LOVE how Scrooge acts around Della, he pretty much behaves as if he was her dad, trying to lecture her and congratulating her after she managed to adapt. It's so sweet.
To be fair, he kind of was her dad.
Should have been released on Mother’s Day
The episode was released on Mother's Day
Oh sorry I am in a different time zone ok
@@feelchill6722 no worries. It is a good episode.
@@dreamerdon6021 I live in the US and it was released the day after.
@@Dimensioneer88 I actually watched it on Mother's Day
The part I loved the most is when she apologized for getting on the rocket. She admits that it was her fault that she was gone for past ten years. Admitting her mistake was a great step for her becoming a mother.
AH! MY HEART! IT'S TO FULL!!!- Webby vanderquack (2019)

Emotionally speaking, a terrible mistake.

“I can't handle so much emotion!“ *faints*
@@cannabishornliu6119 Not quite so dramatic, but just a lot at once.
I know the focus here is on Della's reunion/introduction to her family, but I feel an urge to point out that brief interaction between Beakley and Duckworth. I just found it very satisfying.
I really like this episode. How it's explore how Huey, Dewey and Louie see their mother. How Louie seems to have difficult with her at the beginning and seems to give her a chance at the end.
And how Della lives her maternity. It's explore in the next episode too.
She seems to be quite immature and infantile but she try and it's what Scrooge says. She is not a mother. She have to become a mother.
(My english is so bad, I'm sorry.)
Don't worry, your english is pretty alright. I agree with you too, this has been one of my favorite episodes so far
Hache it’s alright, what you said makes sense 😇
I so want Donald to become the Duck Avenger while in space.
YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I give all props to the writing for this series. I always gravitated to Louie's arc in this episode because it was the most realistic of this brothers. It hard to truly accept someone immediately when they have been gone for so long. This was well reflected in the family meeting they all had about Della and punctuated greatly by Scrooge telling everyone they have to be patient with Della so she could find out how she fits in the new family dynamic and learn how to be a mother. Props to Scrooge for having perspective.
I could have be TURBOOO?!
"Such as hiding behind the giant Aztec coin and making a plan with Scrooge - Dewey did that... or Huey" .... or Thethirdone.
The Terror That Flaps In The Night, OH YEAH BABY!!!
My favorite part of this episode was "I COULD HAVE BEEN TURBO?!"
Dewey being the first to embrace Della also makes total sense from a narrative level. Of the triplets, he was the most invested in seeing his absent mother again and was the first one to see her technically speaking, so to see him waste little time in running to her is the payoff for his investment in finding out the truth about her.
I loved this episode I'm really glad della duck returned to earth and reunited with hewey dewy and louie
I also like how Della had a few mannerisms that were very Donald-like. The embarrassed look she had after she introduces herself to family reminded me so much of the classic Donald look of embarrassment, folding up in himself and hiding his eyes. She also had a similar but not exact angry reaction and fighting stance later in the episode.
Why didn't you mention the fact there names were meant to be jet, turbo,& rebel?
Not according to Frank Angones.
And here we have yet another fantastic episode with Della. Her awkward introduction to the kids always gets a good laugh out of me. All I can say is this a perfect Mother's Day episode. Also, let's just hope Donald makes it out okay.
Once Donald gets back we're going to get an episode with him sad that the boys have seemingly abandoned him for della when, for all purposes he is their adopted dad
I strongly doubt the triplets will so easily replace Donald in their hearts.
@@Rognik Hence "Seemingly". He is going to get back, see how they spend so much time around her and love her, and feel like he needs to step away as their mom is now here. Ending has the boys confirming that they still love him and Della stating she needs Donald because he's just as much their parent as her.
Or della, after realising that donald has gone to the moon, will want to go save him, against the opinion of the triplets, especially dewey, who'll fear they will lose her a 2nd time.
Della will then remind them that donald is has much, if not more, their parental figure, and question them if all the moments they shared with him truly mean nothing to them.
And after understanding their error, they'll accept to have della going to save donald
I think there will be quite a bit of conflict between, between the two, sure they'll be glad to have eachother again, but I believe that Donald would've confronted her about her parenting much sooner than Scrooge, or at least he would've said something directly to her instead of her overhearing the family discussion. There will be a lot of fighting between the two, he wasn't only angry at Scrooge for the incident with the spear of selene, he was also angry at Della and because Scrooge was the only one here when she was presumed to be dead and the only target for Donald's anger, while over the years he forgave Scrooge probably even regretted not speaking to him for over ten years, for him Della died and his anger was overshadowed by grief, but this anger didn't just go away and it will probably show itself when they meet again or a while after they meet again. That's why I guess Donald got taken out of the plot for a while, because having the triplets getting used to having a mother + potential conflicts between the siblings about parenting and having the triplets inbetween would've been to clunky or too many elements at once and while it seems cruel to Donald I think it was a necessary story decision.
Shuyin781 I
2:51 Well to be fair, he had seen her before as a child so he automatically knew she was his mother.
its really strange because della actually feels like she fits into the show alongside all the other characters we know and love
I hope they reveal who Webbys Mother is
Jackson Lampin and I really don’t care 😅
Easy. It's Mrs. Beakly's daughter. Now who's Webby's father? Who is Hewy Dewy and Louis's father? and are they the same person?
Matthew Kreps webby is Mrs. beakly's grand daughter and webby also call Mrs. Beakly "Granny".
Matthew Kreps: they are triplets.
Black Heron and Scrooge is her dad
Della is going to learn being a parent is much harder than any adventure she's done.
5:25 I love how that was made. And I love how Scrooge was annoyed by it, but you can see Della is loving every second of it. She's smiling, and just adoring how each of her boys are. And that sudden I'M WEBBY!" Was just adorable. And this video is beautifully made. I love how you explain things and point out what most people would have missed. Keep it up! 😁😎🥳
I missed the parallels with the kids and the table. It was nice to see Della doing what she does best, what is the most basic part of her character: going full bore without thinking something through. That works great when you are fighting for your life, but not so much when you are trying to cook dinner. Still want to see a Della/Webby episode though.
Donald: Ah hell nah, you let DEWEY FLY THE PLANE?!
I continue to be blown away by Bobby Moynihan, never would have guessed he had it in him.
my guess for the last episode is the moon people coming to earth, caturing it's people, and della, scrooge, and the kids defeats them making them retreat to the moon
and the twins reuniting
Yep, that sounds about right. Added to that is the unlikely hero in Flintheart Glomgold.
Should have made reference to Della's original names for the triplets.
I'm so excited for you to review "The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee" and "The Duck Knight Returns." I love Gizmoduck, and the former episode does a good job showing more of why Fenton is such a good character on his own in this reboot. And the latter episode has probably the best twist of the show so far!
I just realized they need a new intro since Della is back
As long as the song doesn't change I'm good lol
KeepinTheBSBPride agreed
@@SpeedySpringTrap i hope she's in the s3 intro
Nicholas Bloom same I just hope they don’t put her in place of Donald
They all run in a v shape in the title sequence, and someone noticed that it's uneven, so maybe she'll be in the back with Donald?
I just love how the triplet and Della scene, so much!
Is it odd that what I want to see out of this the most is what Della and Launchpad's relationship is going to be like?
Umm.....no?
I mean, at some point we are probably going to see a relationship with those two anyway. So I don't think it should be weird to think that.
The story of Della has been quite the experience. Brought a lot of information to the Duck family tree. Will the show give us more information on the father?
I couldn't breath after her intro.
My favorite episode of the series.
This episode was amazing
Oh, and I want to see her bug Gearloose for a different flavor of gum.
When Della came in the room like sup party people that's who I strive to be when I come into any room
I wanna see her and Launchpad have an episode together too XD
It would be nice to see her interact with him.
I just have one question after watching this
*How have you not had a copyright strike yet*
This episode couldn’t have been any more surreal than it already is. It’s one of my most favorite episodes in any cartoon show I have ever watched. It is also currently my favorite episode of Ducktales (well, for now, until we get more episodes in September which I presume is the finale of season 2/premiere of season 3). I can’t wait for more episodes with Della bonding with each of the boys as well.
Edit (3 years later): I still believe that this is the episode with the quintessential moment of all time.
Sugar rush Huey is my spirit animal.
I have to admit that I was kind of nervous at how and when they would handle the scene of Della reuniting with her family. My first thought was, "Oh, it's going to be in the season finale, everyone is all happy-go-lucky and no lessons are learned." Thankfully, I think it was smart of them to have Della reunite mid-season so they can have their happy reunion, but also deal with any emotional baggage that came after the Spear of Selene incident. I also like how Donald and Della switched places as a way to keep the Moon Men relevant to the season's story. Does this mean that I'm ready to accept Della into the family? Well, before this episode, I was still pretty ticked that she got on that rocket in the first place instead of being there for her kids, but thankfully, she apologized for that in this episode and she's at least trying to be a mom to Huey, Dewey and Louie. Also, the episode made it clear that it'll take time for Della to find her place in the family. Overall, easily one of the best episodes of the season if not the series.
Agreed. But I honestly don't think punishing her after she got back would be a very good idea. She knows she screwed up and she paid for it big time by not being able to see her kids for over ten years. I think that's punishment enough for stepping into the Spear of Selene on an unplanned voyage. Punishing her any more would just be... mean-spirited. And that's a line you should never cross if you're trying to be a light-hearted comedy.
"HI UNCLE SCROOGE!"
The voice acting was perfect. This whole episode was perfect.
Literally the best Ducktales episode ever.
(Raiders of the Doomsday Vault is the second best)
Love how your still able to dive deep into these reviews.
There is one thing I've wondered since this aired. Why has no one asked "Where is the spear?"
I'm sure if Gyro heard Della had returned in a rebuilt Spear. He'd want to look it over to see what happened when they went threw/hit the cosmic storm.
I love the way they are setting stuff up.
I love how they open the door expecting to go on an adventure and this happens. They werent expecting anything like this and it just HAPPENS.
This episode made me cry. Notably the beginning.

I know this video is 2 yrs old but I'd like to point out how the kids retreat all the way to the back of the hallway when they see Della on the doorstep. Their initial cautiousness is almost uncharacteristic of them for the reboot, and Webby is standing in front of them almost protectively. Then they all react in their respective way, of course, but it's interesting to see how they back out at first, whether it's from disbelief or shock. It's a nice touch.

I mostly cried when I watched this episode and I’m happy that she’s back
well we also have to keep the factor in mind the Dewey been looking for the answer for what too his mom since the series stared too see her in really life wow that must a moment of pure joy too know she is stile alive.
I love it whenever Della rubs her kids face to comfort them
I love it when TV shows or movies or whatever treat parents as people, i.e. not cruel or uncaring, but just... well, like any other person. Because you can't be just any other person once you become a parent. Suddenly, it's not just about you, and you have to give up a piece of who you are in order to be there for your child or children. And because Della has been absent for so much of Huey, Dewey and Louie's life (BTW, the fact that she legitimately wanted to all them Jet, Turbo, and Renegade shows just how immature of a parent she really is), she treats her kids more like younger siblings or friends than she does her own children, and the trio don't really know how to react to that. Dewey, as always, is game for anything, Huey puts on his best appearance and tries to make things work for his mother's sake, but it's Louie's reaction that REALLY gets to me, because yeah, having a mom suddenly when you've lived your entire life without one is weird, and the fact that he's expected to have the same feels Huey and Dewey have and defend her actions when he's not fully onboard can be really frustrating for someone like him. Scrooge is right in that Della can't expect to become a mother, let alone the perfect or ideal mother, overnight, and it'll take time for her to find her place in this new family dynamic, which to me means she needs to learn to be mature; because she didn't spend those years raising her kids, she hasn't learned to be the mature, sensible parent that Donald ended up being, and the fact that she thinks she can make up for lost time all in one day, or win the kids over by putting herself in danger and saving them, it just goes to show that she still has a lot to learn. Either way, this episode left me with a lot of warm, fuzzy feelings, and I REALLY look forward to more bonding with Della and her kids... And also seeing where her spat with Launchpad goes.
I'm so glad that this version of Ducktales doesn't use the "return to the status quo" formula that was prevalent in cartoons from the 80s and 90s. I want Della to stay and continue to develop as a character. That goes for for Lena too.
This is my 2nd favorite episode of Season 2. My favorite episode of the season, as well as the series, is still The Most Dangerous Game ... Night!
Honestly, from at the moment you talked about launchpads new role and then mentioning dwd, I got goosebumps, I mean if he ain’t needed as a pilot anymore it opens a new door, doesn’t seem like it at the moment tho
Honestly I kinda had the thought that Della could go full mom experience by being stern with Louie if she catches him doing schemes
That's not a bad idea. We'll have to see that when september comes. (*me: internally screams because of having nothing else to watch in the summer*)
I’m excited and I have a feeling we’ll get a DW Reboot!😍oh and I love how every episode has fun twists. I’m eager to see how the future plays out

My original theory on where Donald was going to end up was that Donald meets this space alien bird girl that he was in a sometime relationship with
I wonder if Della will ever meet Lena or that other new friend of Webby's. Or whether she'll have some kind of relationship with Webby.
Della never grew up. Donald had to grow up and raise three children. She maintained her high energy daring do adventurer self, where Donald had to slow down and learn to properly care for children.
I LOVED THIS EPISODE SO HEARTWARMING 💰🦆💰😍😍😉👍🏻 Great Review Sean 😉
Scrooge hugs Della, but yells at Donald when he comes home after being stranded on that island. Of course, Scrooge didn't know he was stranded, but still...
My friend: "this reunion was great. As long as Noone cries over it anymore"
Me: "question"
My friend: "what's your question?"
Me: "I cried over this reunion"
My friend: "what?"
Me: "I had to"
My friend: "how much?"
Me: "I've done nothing but cry over this reunion for 3 days"
It was a hard choice to make because of how many other great episodes this show has, but this is my favorite episode because of how effectively it handles its emotional moments. It has a fantastic lead-in with the triplets about to go on an adventure and Scrooge dropping the glass quill when he sees Della at the door. All of the characters are extremely themselves, with Dewey’s overreaction to him not being named “turbo,” to Louie’s skepticism about the entire situation, to Huey’s over-analysis and hyperactivity. The whole “she’s not a mom (yet)” thing was a bit cliché, but it was executed well, and they didn’t dwell on that point longer than needed, so I let it slide. Huey’s hearing damage part was hilarious, as was all of their reactions to the cakes. I just love the whole thing.
New villain is pretty simple to see. Moon alien invasion. Which explains the vault with the money tree seed episode.
