    Being someone who unfortunately relates to Donald Duck on the "anything that can go wrong will go wrong" level who had a miserable day when I watched this episode, that speech the therapist gave me all the feels. That's why I love Paperinik/Duck Avenger. I love seeing "World is out to get him" Donald focusing his anger and frustration into being a badass hero.

      It seems the American public at large doesn't really get the Duckiverse comics, and it's really a European thing. The only real exposure other than translated comics Paperinik had was a not that good video game released decades ago.

      @@gracekim25 I'm 20, never too young for comics I guess. Since this is duck tales I'd recommend starting with the Don Rosa comics as they is pretty much the comics that redeemed Scrooge as not just a greedy hardboiled egg, but also have a heart to him. He is softer in the show than he is in the comics, but it just makes those moments when he chooses family over money so much sweeter. If you want to read a great comic about just Scrooge and not the gang, then please read The life and times of Scrooge McDuck as it gives the origin of the character from just a wee lad to gazillionaire in duckburg. It's really good and considered not only the best comic from Don Rosa, but also one of the best comics period

    It makes sense that Donald was sent home so early in comparison to Della. His bad luck did assist him in that whole thing a lot quicker than Della's "luck" would. The character has always been slapstick based throughout the time of his career in cartoons and Comics. Yet, he escaped out of a near-death situation with barely a scratch on him and no harm. He even survived a collision that would have killed a lesser...er... duck or dog. I can say that the people behind the show where they know what they're doing in terms of combining elements from the comics and cartoons in this way. Makes me excited for the rest of the season

      WRONG. Donald was always BOTH slapstick and BADASS! He was always a fighter. Even in his earlier cartoons he headbutt a mountain goat ("Alpine Climbers"), punched out a shark ("Sea Scouts"), uprooted a utility pole ("Cured Duck"), and was a WWII Army vet. And in the comics, he was adventuring even BEFORE Scrooge was created so this stupid idea that he hates or is afraid of adventure is BS. So no, actually. The show needs to do a better job at balancing Donald's badges fighting abilities with his bad luck that doesn't come across as cowardice, stupidity or incompetence because he's none of those things!

    My one disappointment with this episode, is that as I mentioned previously; I was hoping that Donald being Donald just ends up stopping the moon threat before anyone knows it's happening. And this episode ALMOST feels like its going in that direction. Donald through all his hapless bad luck and anger issues manages to take on a group of moon soldiers and win, take on the Moon leader and hold his own at least.
    I'm not saying that it not going in the direction I wanted makes it bad or makes me dislike this episode, no. Not at all, its just knowing whats coming up from the trailer shown at comicon it felt like this would be wrapped up and the big finale would involve Scrooge's version of the Sinister 6. I love this episode because its an amazing Donald episode, and we don't get enough of those. @@ledetbrothers9210 @Ledet Brothers It's shouldn't matter. There was no reason for slapstick to be the "homage" of this episode when it should've also focused on Donald trying to get home too. And if Della shares Donald's bad luck, she too should've gotten the slapstick treatment but she didn't because the writers want to make their semi newbies look good despite not having gone on the adventures the canon characters did.
      It's "more comedic" only because the writers wrote it that way but it shouldn't have been. It completely takes away from where he's supposed to kick butt and as such, it angers me as a cringy waste of time.

Both characters would often try to pull pranks on each other, which end up destroying their property during the action. Jones was Donald's counterpart personality-wise. The character really isn't all that revered in the Duckverse fan base these days.
      He was a substitute for Pete's character from one of the Donald Duck theatrical cartoons. The character has been through a lot of appearance and Incarnation changes and what often take on new identities throughout the years. Still, playing the same role as they did in the comic or cartoon before. The DuckTales version of the character seems a lot more friendlier than the Comic version yet still has his explosive anger as it seems.

    this series is the prove that mickey and is gang have something that most of the characters from the golden age of animation don’t have, they can be put in a more grounded scenario and have some developement bheonde been funny cartoon while still be themselves (i mean can you onestly see someone like daffy or woody woodpecker in the place of donald in this series?)

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 5 лет назад

      Yes, but they're also very different characters and the comics gave the writers a lot of room to explore the world of Duckberg, which adds even more distinction. Exploring Daffy's megalomania, narcissistic charm, and overall failure to achieve his dreams could work out just fine, that's what fueled most of his shorts after all, but if they tried to examine that over the course of a series it would probably end up closer to Bojack Horseman at best (and while that's a fantastic show, I think anything with Daffy would seem like a knockoff of that.) Also, Daffy's not a family-oriented duck so it just wouldn't be the right story for him. That doesn't mean he couldn't be dramatic; the problem is that his struggles are higher up in Maslow's hierarchy of needs so it's harder to feel as much concern for what he's going through and of course he can get pretty mean-spirited so you'd probably want the Duck Dodgers version over the regular Daffy Duck (which is why there was a Duck Dodgers series and also one of the reasons I think the Loony Tunes Show might've flopped a bit. Daffy is fun to watch but he's not as sympathetic.)
      Woody Woodpecker had a show but I never watched it and probably because he never had a strong sense of self. Correct me if I'm wrong about that but I remember disliking it as a child and that's the faint impression that I have of it. He was similar to Screwy Squirrel and anything beyond that feels watered-down to me. It might be possible to give him a Roger Rabbit/Bonkers Bobcat storyline where he's also just an actor who is very similar to his role in levels of silliness but does have a soft side... However, I feel Roger did that best and as much as I loved Bonkers, he never captured that fully so I think it's a really hard character to write for. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed that show too but Bonkers, when he was on his own, was bland and he was at his best with Detective Piquel because he needed a straight man to bounce off of. Daffy doesn't require that and Donald certainly doesn't, but I feel like Woody would. Again, I haven't seen that series in a long time so I could be off but I'd consider that I found Woody pretty forgettable as an extremely bad sign.

    • @detectivewobbuffet2778
      @detectivewobbuffet2778 5 лет назад

      J. Stanley there is a reason because there are more comics about mickey mouse and donald duck then characters like the looney tunes or woody woodpecker, the old cartoons diden’t call for deep characters and most of the characters could not works in a story that call for deep characters beyond cartoony gags, i mean you can possibly see the looney tunes in a more series story (eck they have looney in ther name) and it's certainly no coincidence that WB's comics haven't had the lasting appeal of Disney's.

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 5 лет назад

      @@detectivewobbuffet2778 No, in retrospect, I believe the characters from any studio could become deeper and richer. In the comics, Mickey and Donald significantly evolved from their old shorts (and to some extent, at least animation-wise, Mickey then devolved into a shell of himself, which I think they're trying to shake off now?) and Goofy from Goof Troop is quite different. They're still the same characters but everything needs to be well-rounded and explored further to have depth. This is true for other characters as well, take any Chip and Dale short versus Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. Even Roger Rabbit is a prime example of this; compare the short he's struggling to act in, at the beginning of the movie (or either of the full shorts they released after that) versus the rest of the movie and that's all the difference there is.
      Unfortunately, I don't recall as many of the Looney Tunes shows as well but Taz from the shorts versus the lead in Taz-Mania is a good example. I believe even Tom and Jerry could be good in a similar vein, the problem is all of the movies they made, even when they tried to add pathos in the very first one, rarely get off the ground in any way because they didn't focus on Tom or Jerry but instead kept dumping them into the lives of other people and basically ignoring them as characters. People were thrown that they talked but that wasn't the major issue. Tom and Jerry could've stayed silent but it was more that they talked and said nothing. The script just didn't explore their history or their lives in any depth. Perhaps the producers were too afraid to give them families and backstories or other motivations and dreams. I don't know if any newer movies have changed the formula but I have low expectations. It's harder when it comes to a predator-prey model but I think it's possible: shifting it in favor of fisticuffs could help? I dunno! The dynamic itself is probably the biggest hiccup, which is why I think the Sylvster and Tweety show brought Granny in as the de facto lead and gave them sidekick roles. Anyway...

    • @detectivewobbuffet2778
      @detectivewobbuffet2778 5 лет назад

      J. Stanley i'm just saying that is fair easy to give mickey and is gang more deep characters that other characters from that time because it's hard to picture characters like tom and jerry or bugs bunny doing things other that cartoony gags, at least thats my opiniong i could be wrong.

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 5 лет назад

      @@detectivewobbuffet2778 The only characters it would be awkward for are the predator-prey duos because they automatically become less human. It's not about the gags beyond that. Goofy doesn't always walk around with a narrator; those are hilarious shorts but it'd ruin the vibe of Goof Troop for example. It's about creating a world, a life, and a past for these characters but we can't take them seriously if the narrative doesn't. I think Bugs could be engrossing as a cross-dressing or transgender character framed in a more genuine and sympathetic light for example but he could be completely run-of-the-mill and still be fine as long as he has the right story. Daffy could be good too; I just see him leaning in the direction of Bojack Horseman if he were taken seriously and explored with honest depth. Tex Avery's Red could have any job and deal with the frustrations of modern dating, while her grandma has the same issue but different problems based on her age. The question is how deep the writers want to go and if they have enough time, serialization, to do it in. :)

    I think it'd be cool if Donald landed in Brazil or some other South American country so we could see some more adventures with the Three Caballeros without the main Ducktales cast, maybe in some B plots that occur parallel in real time to the A plots with the boys, Webby and Scrooge. Maybe even teaching us a bit about Latin and South American culture like Saludos Amigos and the original Three Caballeros film did, while also building up some hype for the Three Caballeros series coming to Disney + in a couple of months. But most of all, I think I just want to see more of Panchito and José. I think we all do. Heck, I'd like to see what would happen if Donald performed with the Caballeros with Gyro's voice modulator from The Shadow War. So many possibilities!
