That's just a theory on my end but I loved the story of this game.
I second that. I never expected a guy who has been in a KOF game for God knows how long to have such a massive amount of growth. Really, XV probably have my favorite sets of team stories in the entire series.
Their match probably ended up in a stalemate like in KOF 2001 where after they helped both K Dash and Kula take down Igniz, leader of NESTs, they broke away from everyone to have their fight which had an undecided end. Another reason why it may be a stalemate is Iori. With Iori being part of the Yasakani clan and how they made a Blood Pact with Orochi, as Shoryu mentioned in his Iori video, Iori is simply trying to make most of his time fighting Kyo to not only to fight but keep his rival up to snuff since he is on limited time as his family's curse kills their members at a young age in their lives and seeing that Iori will likely following that same fate someday, he's probably trying to make use of the situation. This is something that Tung mentioned in his special intro with Iori in KOF XIV as he knows that Iori says that he would kill Kyo but he doesn't actually do it and lets their rivalry continue on, meaning that Iori finds some enjoyment in it and of course, Iori shrugs it off. I love how the developed Shun’ei, Isla, and even Krohnen, despite the latter being gone for years and it’s great seeing Ash and Elizabeth back together again as the poor girl was absolutely devastated. And of course, one of personal favorites, is seeing Chizaru being so done with Kyo and Iori’s feud and basically said “Screw it, go kill yourselves!”. I gotta admit... Aside from the Hero, Rival, Orochi and Ikari Warrior teams, most of the teams never have substential evolutions from a game to another. By that I mean it always disapoint me to see the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting members beeing there to be the butt of a joke. I don't mean to make them a huge part of the main plot but I would be glad to see a substential subplot beeing made with them. Especialy for the characters from the FF/AOF Universe (Geese and Billy included) Aside of that Shun'ei realy grew on me in this game and I think Isla is a big part of it. If the Verse/Re-verse Saga was mainly done to bring back fan favorites I still hope these two would have a nice developpement in the next entries. PS: Nice summary of this entry Shoryu, keep up the good work.
I honestly hope we maybe we could get one last game from the Amplified Specters Arc… I feel like we could get one last game…I feel like we ran into a big missed opportunity to call one of the bosses In Verse, to tie into Shun’ei’s Water Hand
What unanswered questions? Otama=raga was vanquished like Orochi. They can’t die, so it’s already over. Even though how the gem is supposed to stop Geese wasn’t explained, I think knowing it was going to stop him was enough to conclude Luong’s story. Literally all the stories are over and we can only wait for the dream match and new saga to come.
I think 15 will be a dream match game once the dlc is all said and done. As snk said, there more teams past the next 3 and most characters can come back as dlc if they're popular
The only thing I can say is that every kof series boss always the best and this time I actually hope that we can see Geonitz,Maki kagura,Zero,Igniz,Gaidel ofc the Hakkeshu we yet didn't get to see and much more characters that I want to see back man this is soo exciting
Thanks for explaining some concepts I had trouble understanding, like how Otoma-Raga managed escape from her 'plane of existence'. Also, that's another KOF win in the bag for Benimaru🏆.
I hope this isn’t the end of the Arc I don’t think it is at least one more entry because so many things are left unanswered like the Amplified Specters and their origins how Shun’Ei and Isla got them. What is really kool is technically all the endings as they happen are canon despite all Teams not being the canonical winners of the Tournament which we know the true winners are the Heroes Team who duked it out with Rivals Team in the Finals followed by facing Re Verse and Otama Raga!! The fact that all the endings relevant to the Story and Plot are canon even though 99% of them didn’t actually win the Tournament speaks volumes because if you play other Fighting Games usually all endings but the canonical winner is non canon and thus irrelevant when you look at Tekken, MK, DOA, some of SF etc.
I do enjoy this explanation to KoF XV story it makes me love this game even more and also the growth with Shun'ei makes me respect him as well. By the way as i side note i kinda dig his outfit even tho many others don't just saying. However 1 thing has been bothering me throughout KoF XV story arc is that we don't get to meet the host of the tournament yet alone fine out who she is 'Anastasia'. Like what was her reason to even make another KoF tournament or did she knew of the outcome that was about to happen/or had happen? Usually the KoF tournament is often hosted by a wealthy sometimes evil benefactor like Geese,Rugal,Antonov just to name a few and we often know/see that person but not the case for KoF XV. This maybe be nothing and she's just some person who want to host a tournament, but i would like to know your thoughts on this and what/who is Anastasia. Either way this has been a great video on KoF lore,Thank you.
Appreciate all the work making all the cutscenes and slideshows of KOFXV into a semblance of a somewhat coherent story. It's pretty lacking in KOFXV, but it is what it is. Hands down my favorite KOF. Outside of game roster, it's hard going back to the gameplay of older KOF without wishing they would play more like XV.
I don't know much about Otoma, but now I kinda know more about XV as a whole. I'm sure the Verse Saga isn't done this year (makes more sense to me than the Shun 'ei saga)and looking forward to see how it plays out.
I think this Arc is just a plot device to bring back characters from previous Sagas so SNK could further expand the stories of the previous sagas. Alot of things in XV feels like a set up so the stories of the previous saga could be continued, like the Orochi Team’s Ending, Gaidel’s Resurrection and Rugal’s Return. It feels like a continuation to the Orochi Saga Maybe in XVI, these elements would be further established and we may get a sequal to the Orochi Saga.
if they wanted to continue orochi saga they need to somehow make rugal re-appearance 'canon' in storyline because hes the only suitable host for orochi spirit or they can use iori as well but if they did use iori as a host then we would be getting some bad ending to iori a.k.a he died sacrificing himself to end the orochi curse for me i wish they focus more on the amplified specters origin and the origins of shun'ei water based phantom arm so far we get zero explaination to how or where those things came from
I want more N.E.S.T.S. instead. Revenge of N.E.S.T.S. would be a great storyline. Plus it'd be a good break from all the otherworldly superbeings in a row to just fight an evil organization headed by a good old fashioned megalomaniacal psychopath again. Make Krohnen the protagonist. Boom. Done.
Huh, I had no idea this was meant to be the Verse Saga finale. Perhaps we haven't seen the last of the story yet! Anyway, I can always trust ShoryuGame to tell me who the canon victor is of each KOF!
Snk didn't say shun ei saga I will say they could make shun ei as protagonist again but diffirent design with development shows his training around the world this saga is more for verse saga it's not that focuses on shun ei the ending of team hero literally like the starting of shun ei journey lmao
Strangely this plot extends where by the boss Otama Raga was considered weak by the other competitors Rugal in the shadows heard this and decided to walk up into the update saying ah yes Competitors you were looking for a Final boss I'M BACK! The plot thickens from there...
I think this is the last chapter of Shun'ei's story at least they could still continue the Otoma arc but i think it would have a new protagonist like say in a Uni Saga. However when the game came out I still thought it was the end of the verse saga due to Shun'ei starting a new journey, him and Isla being on good terms and Kurki and Dolores going back to their ... Desert I guess. Also I this think it's funny that the trailer said it was the climax of the story and nobody paid any attention to that line at all.
Y'all remember Adel? The "second protagonist" of the Ash saga? I miss him so much. I would pay a fortune to play as him again, please SNK I really don't care if it's in this game or 10 years later in the next, and I honestly couldn't give a damn about his story importance I just want my boy back :(
Thanks for another entertaining video Shoryu. I find it hard to believe this is the end of Shunei Saga as you mentioned there are questions remained unanswered yet. Also i'm predicting certain team ups in the next kof.. Isla might team up with shunei and meituken, kukri with Dolores, and Terry with Rock and Jenet maybe. Who knows, it might not be the end afterall.
I don't see any reason as to why this should be the last chapter of the Shun'ei Saga, especially with all those plot points being set up as well as the return of many dead characters we still haven't seen just yet. To me, I think this is just the beginning of Shun'ei's actual journey. He may have more control with his powers as an Amplified Specter, but I think he's going to have to face off a lot of enemies at future tournaments, especially with his and Isla's connections to ReVerse and Otoma=Raga. Plus, we still don't know who Anastasia is, especially since we never really saw her face. Just who is Anastasia?
Only reason why I can think of why various people (except betty) act like they don’t remember who ash is that the memory _of_ him is still erased as per 13’s ending, thus the timeline is readjusting to him being revived
Great video as always and another important thing to mention is that this game finally cleared up Rock Howard’s place in the canon Or at least I think it did
Can the KoF devs make KoF XVI under the name "Amplified Spectres", that way we can see why and how Shun'ei and Isla went off to undisclosed locations at the end of their team's endings, and also another......Team Special Agents?
The Shun’ei saga was not that good but it wasn’t that bad either. Big congratulations for Team Hero winning the tournament. Shun’ei and Meitenkun finally got a win under their belt and Benimaru is now a 9 time kof champion. Hopefully we get some sort of story expansion to awesome more lore to this saga. And lastly, Thank you Shoryu Game for always giving us kof fans a lot of lore regarding this outstanding franchise. Keep being awesome my dude.
I can't be the only one but I feel like this story and it's characters is more in line of KOF 2006. How jivatma is basically from another world just like Luise. Actually Dolores reminds me a lot of Luise.
I really hope KOFXV isn't the last chapter in the Shun Ei saga there are still loose ends that have to be answered and Shun Ei also needs a bit more character development
You know, we still haven't seen the exact scene of Shunei being overcome by dark powers in this game. It was in the reveal trailer but not in the game. Could that idea been scrapped???
I am still fairly sure 16 will be the final chapter of this arc. All previous arcs had 3 canon games, and now we have the canon hero team of Shunei, Isla and the My Pillow guy.
@@RyomenAyeni225 the ending of team hero is like the starting of shun ei journey this saga looks like focusing more of verse saga rather shun ei much if they do new saga just make shun ei as protagonist again and show him with diffirent design plus character development

The only thing that XV could've been better, is to expand all character's interlude with one another, *similar to Tekken 5* So many missed oppertunities, man.
If it's true that XV is the last game in the Shuunei Saga. Then something that tells me that each game from now on in the series will feature a singular storyline, like almost every fighting game series nowadays.

At least the host in the EX2 Howling Blood game Gustav Munchhausen had a face reveal, but pushes forth his brainwashed wind-bending ace Shinobu Amou to do much of the fighting on the former's behalf.
Otoma=Raga is almost a *Big Lipped Alligator Moment* She comes from nowhere; is way over the top; makes no sense and once she is gone she is never mentioned again. I mean, Re Verse was the boss we all were expecting to see, she was teased by the end of the previous game. Otoma=Raga was just a surprise but not a good one. Her introduction was very late, random and forced. And I thought Igniz's introduction was not good. At least we could see Igniz in the cutscenes before the final battle and he had an actual personality and goal! Both Re Verse and Otoma=Raga are just creatures from other dimensions who only want to destroy...and that's it. I don't feel anything with them. The only good thing about Otoma=Raga is her design. Even Jivatma was better final boss than her.
Its like no one cares that what you've stated is the case. The boss of this game is basically just used to bring back dead character (only 4 so far by the way so meh). Can shunei even be considered the main character? He serves no real purpose, hell ash now has more a connection to verse compared to shunei, its because of Ash that verse could get to earth. So pointless, this was street fighter level or writing
SNK staff must have watched Regular Show for something. Mundane stuff escalates to a world-dooming crisis that only the designated MCs have to do something in their capacity to thwart it. Maximum Impact 3 better show us Judeim's current vessel, and other activities executed by the Addes Syndicate. Team Alba-Seth-Luise to be confirmed...
Even so but...the thing is, Shun'ei and Isla are more both 4th. Saga heroese and catalysts, Ash is also the cause for this mess. Unlike Maximum Impact and EX ver. (Played on GBA) that is a spin-off KOF game from alternate timeline, KOF 4th Saga story it shows more like the story is not cannonic timeline more like alternate, even if is a main timeline. As for the Hosts and Antagonists well...in XIV it showed that Antonov was the Host while Verse was the Antagonist. Now in XV Antonov is no more the Host but known other then the unseen female charater by the name Anastasia, Re Verse and OTOMA=RAGA are the Antagonists. But heres my theory about both Verse and Re Verse. Like Re Verse was physically characterized like Isla, my guess is that Verse is a negative version of Shun'ei. Also about OTOMA=RAGA, if you watch carefully on her face and physical apperance, she is a little bit like Dolores. Plus about antagonists, as we know in every KOF Games from 94 to XIII, some of Hosts they were antagonists along with mysterious people who are belong to certain clan or organization except Chizuru and Saisyu they are not included as long as they are the good characters. 94-Rugal 95-Rugal 96-Goenitz 97-Team Orochi and Orochi 99-Krizalid 2000-Clone Zero 2001-Original Zero and Igniz 2003-Adelheid and Mukai XI-Shion and Magaki XIII-Saiki Now in both XIV and XV, Hosts are just good and normal characters and antagonist just demons. Who knows, maybe in the next KOF game called KOFXVI will appeare again Otoma=Raga and maybe this time will appeare another evil clan unlike Hakkeshu clan and Those from the Past clan.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Shen and Duo Lon regaining their memories of Ash in Team Ash's ending not to mention the fact that the post credit scene of the Sacred Treasures team ending actually revealed the winner of Kyo and Iori's duel that being Kyo
Great video, as usual. Man... i hate how the other teams are snubbed, and get joke endings. They need to hurry and come out with a new Fatal Fury/Garou, so we can get some growth/closure/resolution.
I would like to think the point of Otama Raga is the purpose to "re-create" even if it means the total annihilation of their dimension. Think due what Ash caused at the end of KOF XIII, it was probably what triggered the goddess into what would either corrupt or change the many factors of the events in which would've or should've happened, therefore why Verse/Re-Verse appeared to do the job. Anyways great video, man. Even though the sub endings of different teams aren't relevant, I would like to see a top 10 of what your favorite ones are.
Honestly the techinical reason they made XV the last of the Shun'ei Saga despite it the second part is because it would be insane to wait another 5-6 years just to have a third part. Imagine waiting 12 years tops for a fighting game saga story to end

And of course, one of personal favorites, is seeing Chizaru being so done with Kyo and Iori’s feud and basically said “Screw it, go kill yourselves!”. Thanks so much for this well crafted and detailed video, Shoryugame. :)
You're most welcome, and thanks for the kind comment!

So trustworthy! No chance of betrayal at all.....
Especialy for the characters from the FF/AOF Universe (Geese and Billy included)
Aside of that Shun'ei realy grew on me in this game and I think Isla is a big part of it. If the Verse/Re-verse Saga was mainly done to bring back fan favorites I still hope these two would have a nice developpement in the next entries.
PS: Nice summary of this entry Shoryu, keep up the good work.

I honestly hope we maybe we could get one last game from the Amplified Specters Arc…
I feel like we could get one last game…I feel like we ran into a big missed opportunity to call one of the bosses In Verse, to tie into Shun’ei’s Water Hand
I firmly believe that KOF 16 would be the last arc of Shun'ei Saga.
As a non-cannon game ofc
Thank you for telling the world that Shun'ei's headphones are the dumbest thing in the world
They sure are!
You are right
I think 15 will be a dream match game once the dlc is all said and done.

Yes, exactly
Love your lore videos! It makes me quite interesting to continue playing these games.
Glad to hear it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Appreciate all the work making all the cutscenes and slideshows of KOFXV into a semblance of a somewhat coherent story. It's pretty lacking in KOFXV, but it is what it is.
Hands down my favorite KOF. Outside of game roster, it's hard going back to the gameplay of older KOF without wishing they would play more like XV.

shun'ei would look better without the magic jacket on his shoulders or wearing it normally without the tie
I don't know much about Otoma, but now I kinda know more about XV as a whole. I'm sure the Verse Saga isn't done this year (makes more sense to me than the Shun 'ei saga)and looking forward to see how it plays out.
It’s good to have Omega Rugal back in The King of Fighters XV
I think this Arc is just a plot device to bring back characters from previous Sagas so SNK could further expand the stories of the previous sagas.
Alot of things in XV feels like a set up so the stories of the previous saga could be continued, like the Orochi Team’s Ending, Gaidel’s Resurrection and Rugal’s Return. It feels like a continuation to the Orochi Saga
Maybe in XVI, these elements would be further established and we may get a sequal to the Orochi Saga.
I totally agree with you.
if they wanted to continue orochi saga they need to somehow make rugal re-appearance 'canon' in storyline because hes the only suitable host for orochi spirit or they can use iori as well but if they did use iori as a host then we would be getting some bad ending to iori a.k.a he died sacrificing himself to end the orochi curse
for me i wish they focus more on the amplified specters origin and the origins of shun'ei water based phantom arm so far we get zero explaination to how or where those things came from
Lowkey have a strong feeling they are gonna bring back the Orochi storyline. But with sub plots regarding Geese and Otama raga
I would love to see a character video about Ash Crimson, I'm sure he and Shun ei haven't gotten one yet.
I've been waiting for a video like this
Y'all remember Adel? The "second protagonist" of the Ash saga?
I miss him so much. I would pay a fortune to play as him again, please SNK I really don't care if it's in this game or 10 years later in the next, and I honestly couldn't give a damn about his story importance I just want my boy back :(
Team Super Heroine’s Ending was actually pretty funny. Athena, disguising her circus proposal to Mai and Yuri as a popstar show, was hilarious!
I hope so!
Haha Shun does need to take off those headphones lol
Great video as always and another important thing to mention is that this game finally cleared up Rock Howard’s place in the canon
Or at least I think it did

The Shun’ei saga was not that good but it wasn’t that bad either. Big congratulations for Team Hero winning the tournament. Shun’ei and Meitenkun finally got a win under their belt and Benimaru is now a 9 time kof champion. Hopefully we get some sort of story expansion to awesome more lore to this saga. The only thing that XV could've been better, is to expand all character's interlude with one another, *similar to Tekken 5*
So many missed oppertunities, man.
Oooo that’s why Dolores was acting like that towards luong. Because she knew she was on some bull.
If it's true that XV is the last game in the Shuunei Saga. Then something that tells me that each game from now on in the series will feature a singular storyline, like almost every fighting game series nowadays.

"BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE!"
Current mysterious tournament organizer and host Anastasia is yet to be unveiled. At least the host in the EX2 Howling Blood game Gustav Munchhausen had a face reveal, but pushes forth his brainwashed wind-bending ace Shinobu Amou to do much of the fighting on the former's behalf.
Otoma=Raga is almost a *Big Lipped Alligator Moment*
She comes from nowhere; is way over the top; makes no sense and once she is gone she is never mentioned again.
94-Rugal
95-Rugal
96-Goenitz
97-Team Orochi and Orochi
99-Krizalid
2000-Clone Zero
2001-Original Zero and Igniz
2003-Adelheid and Mukai
XI-Shion and Magaki
XIII-Saiki
Now in both XIV and XV, Hosts are just good and normal characters and antagonist just demons. Who knows, maybe in the next KOF game called KOFXVI will appeare again Otoma=Raga and maybe this time will appeare another evil clan unlike Hakkeshu clan and Those from the Past clan.
this saga is my favorite saga in kof
I'm surprised you didn't mention Shen and Duo Lon regaining their memories of Ash in Team Ash's ending not to mention the fact that the post credit scene of the Sacred Treasures team ending actually revealed the winner of Kyo and Iori's duel that being Kyo
All it shows is Kyo returning to Yuki. It doesn't necessarily mean he won.
@@ShoryuGame true that is what they did but I'm very confident in thinking it's SNK actually showing us who won instead of just telling us

Since I can't play the game as of now, I wouldn't mind seeing a video about every subplot too.
I'll consider making a reaction video of the different endings.
Great video, as usual. Man... i hate how the other teams are snubbed, and get joke endings. They need to hurry and come out with a new Fatal Fury/Garou, so we can get some growth/closure/resolution.
Guess we all know who shunei's team is gonna be from now on.
Isla, shunei and meitenkun. Let's hope the dude atleast gets the girl 😂
By far the only tsundere of KOF.
Oh we know how Japan is, they will tease it and that's it
I find it satisfying that this video and the arc ends with you calling Shunei a loser lmao
Looks like, in the end, Isla wants to put her hands on Shun'ei... all 4 of them.
Thank you and I agree with your analysis. Otoma=raga/Re verse are kinda like the Dahaka from Prince of Persia: Warrior within.
Honestly the techinical reason they made XV the last of the Shun'ei Saga despite it the second part is because it would be insane to wait another 5-6 years just to have a third part. Imagine waiting 12 years tops for a fighting game saga story to end
