Well, if SNK could put Gai and Silber, characters from a full 3D fighting game, into KOF XI, I bet that can do the same for the MI characters. Alba is the easiest character to implement his fighting style in a mainline KOF game. I would love to see Lien in a mainline KOF, her big satellite laser would be even more useful in a 2D gameplay. Luise's air dashes could work like the air dashes from SNK Heroines, that game has awesome gameplay. Etc.
Well garou 2 has now been announced. Maybe they will appear in that game? I doubt it since it will probably be mostly the previous garou cast along with the unfinished characters of the canceled sequel. Rock, Billy, and Kain are already confirmed so far.
Maximum impact 2 was the first KOF game i actually owned. The first fighting game in general, actually. I spent a whole summer on it and contributed to my love for this franchise and genre, believe it or not. Going back to it, sure it didn't age perfectly. Clunky gameplay, cheesy dialogues, hilarious english dub... But man, if you tell me they didn't do the best they could with this game, i'll stop talking to you. The amount of content, story bits, backstories, stages, cameos, costumes. This was a very good sub-series. Probably the best one in KOF. I didn't particularly love any original MI character. Even back then i automatically gravitated towards the likes of Terry, Kula, Leona etc. But still, getting some sort of continuation, even just in the form of playable characters in the mainline, would be a dream 🙏
Shoryu *FINALLY* covered the Maximum Impact series! I've waited for this day for so long!! Capcom Vs SNK is the game that introduced me to to SNK in general, it was the Maximum Impact Series that introduced me to KOF so it holds a bit of a special place in my heart. Never actually played the games, but the cast of characters and story drew me in and got me very *invested* into it when I watched a bunch of arcade mode playthroughs back in middle school. I really hope MI gets a MI3 and not hang on a cliffhanger to the end of time like Garou... ...Is what I'd *like* to say then SNK just freaking announced MotW 2!! If that can finally come back after 20+ years I wanna hope Maximum Impact can come back from the grave!!
The Meira brothers, Mignion and Ninion Beart, Luise Meyrik, Nagase and Chae Lim are always my favorite characters of the MI Saga. As for the MI franchise well, Shoryu game, apart that MI Regulation A2 was Cancelled, MI3 was also cancelled because that was the last chapter of the MI Saga, SNK was going to make also MI3 and don't forget Jivatma was defeated but not dead just disappeared. His objectiv was to revive or awake a ancient alien or demon by the name Judeim with the help of Alba and Soiree Meira. They have the heritage of that creature. And Judeim must be the last antagonist for MI3. And thats why MI3 was cancelled because is not over yet but still we never have the MI3.
Well the sales were not very good for the 2nd installment and I believe that if they never called it KOF 2006 or had better marketing then it would have worked.

Thanks for covering the story of KOF Maximum Impact, it deserves more recognition even if the gameplay is not the best. You didn't mention the short OVA that was made as prequel to Maximum Impact 2, maybe because it did not focus on the main story or you just didn't know about it, if you don't, give it a watch, you won't regret it.
Here's an idea: If there ever is a KOF VXI, just use Maximum Impact. That way, you'd make the story and characters canon. The M.I. characters can get redesigns and story can have a conclusion.
KOF MI2 is the most underrated entry in the franchise , it's a lot better than people give credit for and deserves more respect and appreciation u know what shoryu ? if you place in the kof games ranking video it will surely rank higher than kof 94 , 95 99 2000 2001 and 2003 (while lower than the rest of course) the endings are good (especially kyo and iori) and try to play challenge and quest survival mode you will have a blast trust me (btw it was this game that introduced challenge mode and not kof XI like most people think since it was released months earlier on the PS2 back in 2006)
The KOF Maximum Impact games have a special place in my heart because thanks to those games I started liking KOF Before that, I wasn't a fan of fighting games (expect Smash Bros. series), I remember playing KOF 95 when I was little but I didn't like it... Many years later when I was in Peru, I found a KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A arcade machine (most likely an illegal one) and I played it and my mind was blowing of how much fun that game was, I still remember the first 3 characters I chose (Kula, Fio and Mai). And that's how my love for KOF started ^_^

Maximum Impact is underrated. What more can I say? I never played them but I have seen footage. I've seen gameplay and it holds up mostly. I only wish SNK can bring these games over to modern consoles along with KOF 11 and 13. There's like no excuse. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for SNK Playmore at the time because man, it's like they really didn't know where to go after being reborn. And the biggest mistake they made was to try to appeal to the West. Because at the time, arcades were pretty much dead and now SNK needed to figure something out so they decide to focus on console gaming and let's just say that it wasn't pretty. It just wasn't period. Nice job with this one. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on what SNK has shown at EVO, especially SamSho with rollback netcode. Honestly it should have had it sooner since KOF XV has rollback.
I'd say, the KOF Maximum Impact Series is apart of my childhood. Truly a uniqie fighting game. I'm so dumb to think back that I only chose female characters to know how jiggle physics work 💀 BUT I WAS STILL A KID! 😐 In any way, this is truly a great lore video and I honestly love your dedication to making SNK related games into story narration. Keep up the good work bro! 😁👍 Here's my suggestion : Since you've already finished touching the Maximum Impact storyline, why not do the other non-canon KOF series? I'm talking about the KOF EX SERIES! There's only two games related in the story, and the fact that it gave birth to 5 exclusive characters and only available on the Game Boy Advance just made it overall interesting. I didn't mind the jiggle psysics. Fanservice always sell that's a fact. I also chose female characters to see their jiggling physics 😁 And after that I really enjoyed the gameplay and story. I have watched Kill la Kill and that anime taught me that you can have good stories and awesome characters even with the big fanservice ^_^ Satsuki is best queen! Same reason why I didn't mind the fanservice in SNK Heroines. That game is underrated.

Had a lot of fun with this game back in the day. As Shoryu mentioned, the gameplay and graphics are not that great, but the all the single content the game had was nuts. And to this day the intro for MI2 is the best intro for any KOF game ever!
Not going to lie, as a teenager, i had no idea all this was going on 😅. Didn't pay attention to the story. Was just there for the cool looking characters and flashy attacks.
Great video Shoryu. I always though Alba would be a good fit for the prime KOF universe and even more now that KOF has changed from 2D sprites. I wonder if SNK will ever bring him along? It's hard to say since there are so many characters we want to see in the main series that we probably never will. I still say KOF should make an entire game of side characters. I would play that too!

You shouldn’t ask for just one more. Someone who reviewed the The Tales of Ash Saga and Maximum Impact Saga said SNK green lit 6 sequels after the first game. But the cancellation might’ve been Flacoon’s fault if he made Maximum Impact 2 be called 2006 in the west because that caused people to believe it was a fake or bootleg since KOF XI was released. SNK kept making mistakes until falling into the pits of a hiatus and pachinko.
I would love you to do Individual lore videos on the Maximum Impact characters. It has become clear you are running out of mainline KOF characters so now is the perfect time to increase your options.
Okay alien origins aside Alba, Soirée, and Fate give me strong parallels to Terry Andy and Jeff Bogard. Except like a dark counterpart sort of. They even have a Geese in the form of Duke too. Otherwise it quickly becomes its own thing.
Falcoon’s take in the mythos was alright. I’m actually shocked none of the Bros., Lien or Butterfly Waifu made into the mainstream KOF yet. Maybe Falcoon owns the designs?

Man. I really miss this series its good to see you love the Maximum Impact series so much. I respect those who hate it. But I really do like this era. Plus its in the same timeline as Rock Howard. Thats why Geese is Nightmare Geese because he is dead. I remember reading Rock's story in these maximum impact games are canon and based before his events from Garou Mark of the wolves. Its awesome. Rock was STRONG in KOF2006. I understand why he got nerfed in regulation A. Because he had alot of cancelation juggles. That was the best Rock Howard I ever played. Really loved his kof2006 move set. But I also like Ninion and Hyena and also Duke and Lien. Hope to see at least one of them back one day.

Maximum Impact 1 is the first fighting game I've played and the only one I like. Even though playing it hurts my thumb because I try to rub it all over the arrow buttons, trying to activate the supers.
damn, i remember playing Maximum Impact 2 on the PS2 back in the 2000's. I'm still hoping that one day SNK will bring back Alba, Luise, and Soiree as Team Maximum Impact and also Duke, Nagase, and Lien too.
This was one of my favorite KOF games. Me and my friends waited years before giving up hope we would get the third game. We always thought Soriée got taken by the evil group, would have gotten the memories back and would have been the sub-boss of the game. Would have been epic to see!

You know, the one with the big cleavage? I like her alternate costumes, her pirate costume is cute, but her default one and her pink leotard costume from MI1 are my favorites 😍 Female characters can be serious/badass and still wearing sexy costumes KOF could use more ladies like Lien. I dont mean to sound mean but I kinda dont like all that stuff to be honest. I with characters had more fashionable stylish costumes instead of sexy ones since I love fashion. I wish KOF would get a customization mode like how SNK heroines had but make it better because SNK heroines did not have a very good selection of costumes. I think if they added that feature to KOF 15 they could make the customization better. I mean Tekken has some good customization back in Tekken 6. Not Tekken 7 they dont have a good selection in that. But I think KOF can do well with a customization feature if they put more heart in it.

I am not trying to say all female characters should wear skimpy costumes, that's why I love about KOF XV it has a good balance of female characters being modest or wearing sexy outfits. Let's be real, KOF XV is one of the last fighting games where you can see female characters showing skin and I like that. I hate how all the woman in MK11 look while the male characters can show skin. Even modern fighting games, like DNF, there isn't any single one showing a lot of skin :( Dead or Alive 6 is an exampke of how bad censorship can be. Just to appeal to the western audience and public events, they killed the series and their long time fans. In other words, fanservice shouldn't been seen as bad or forbiden. We want Diamon and Takuma , gonitz, vice, mature, Orochi, zero, Kensou, chin, Choi, Chang, Orochi Iroi, Orochi Leona, zero, Team USA, Saisu , Mr karate, Kyo Kusanagi 95, Krizalid, Billy, Ignitz, Shin, Luise, Alba and Jeevatma from kof mi 2, whip, both chracters from kof 95 Iroi team, magaki, rose and all other remaning chracters. This could surpass kof 98 UMFE and kof 2002 UM. Kof XV could be one of the best kof ever.

I have to say this. I may get hate but I dont care. But 3D is way better than 2D. :( I miss the times games were 3D. Mk11 is clunky and slow and BORING!!! Kof 15 is really good and did steep up their gameplay with their max mode system. But I think all of that would be better in 3D. I am sorry if this is offensive but I honestly dont see whats so great about 2D games. I just feel like I have more mobility in a 3D fighting game. I loved Mortal Kombat Deception and Deadly Alliance and Armageddon. And kof maximum impact and kof2006. And so many others. The ps2 era is the best era of fighting games. Now we went back to 2D. I really wish we would get another 3D kof game. It does not have to be like this game. I mean its outdated now. But KOF can do so much better in 3D. They can still have the same combo styles we have in kof 14 and 15. But just in a 3D environment would be so much fun and better. Tekken 7 really showed how cool max mode would be in 3D. I really really miss 3D fighting games. :( Its really sad for me because I am better in 3D because I can move and have more mobility. When you have projectiles its awesome in 3D because you can use them for strategy purposes. I really do enjoy the 2D new kof games. I moved to KOF because Mortal Kombat is crap now. But really I think 3D is just so much fun and I hope we see it again one day. Alot of hard core 2D fans say that 3D was never popular but its actually not true. Mortal Kombat Deception was very successful and KOF2006 was successful too. Even to this day alot of KOF fans and I am not talking about 2 or 3 people but a vast majority of the fanbase are still requesting Maximum impact characters to be in the 2D KOF and alot of fans are still wanting another Maximum Impact game or another 3D kof game in general. I always see fans requesting characters from these games. So that says alot that it had to have done well. But I just hope one day we see another 3D KOF game. 2D is stale and boring and I really miss 3D. :( Thats why I love Geese in Tekken 7. It gave me my favorite character back in 3D and WITH MAX MODE! SO AWESOME!!! :D Honestly I love everything about the new KOF games but the only thing that holds it back for me is its 2D. I really want 3D fighting games again. I miss them so much. :( Sorry if this is long I just had to say this because I hate keeping it too myself in fear of getting hate but I will just ignore the hate from 2D fans if I get any. If I keep this stuff too myself its always hard to sleep at night I am not kidding so I had to say how I felt about KOF being 2D again.

The intros to both games rocked, especially MI2. MI2 has one of the best intros ever, imo.
Duke was definitely a KOF boss! I actually enjoyed these games a lot they were fun and had some great alternate uniforms.
Maximum Impact is underrated. What more can I say? I never played them but I have seen footage. I've seen gameplay and it holds up mostly. I only wish SNK can bring these games over to modern consoles along with KOF 11 and 13. There's like no excuse.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same for SNK Playmore at the time because man, it's like they really didn't know where to go after being reborn. And the biggest mistake they made was to try to appeal to the West. Because at the time, arcades were pretty much dead and now SNK needed to figure something out so they decide to focus on console gaming and let's just say that it wasn't pretty. It just wasn't period.
Nice job with this one. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on what SNK has shown at EVO, especially SamSho with rollback netcode. Honestly it should have had it sooner since KOF XV has rollback.

Since you've already finished touching the Maximum Impact storyline, why not do the other non-canon KOF series? I'm talking about the KOF EX SERIES! There's only two games related in the story, and the fact that it gave birth to 5 exclusive characters and only available on the Game Boy Advance just made it overall interesting. I hope you take consideration for this, the games are actually pretty good in my opinion. Once again, thank you Syoryugame! 🤜🤛

Had a lot of fun with this game back in the day. As Shoryu mentioned, the gameplay and graphics are not that great, but the all the single content the game had was nuts. And to this day the intro for MI2 is the best intro for any KOF game ever!

Great video Shoryu. I always though Alba would be a good fit for the prime KOF universe and even more now that KOF has changed from 2D sprites. I wonder if SNK will ever bring him along? It's hard to say since there are so many characters we want to see in the main series that we probably never will. I still say KOF should make an entire game of side characters. I would play that too!

You shouldn’t ask for just one more. Someone who reviewed the The Tales of Ash Saga and Maximum Impact Saga said SNK green lit 6 sequels after the first game. But the cancellation might’ve been Flacoon’s fault if he made Maximum Impact 2 be called 2006 in the west because that caused people to believe it was a fake or bootleg since KOF XI was released. SNK kept making mistakes until falling into the pits of a hiatus and pachinko.

Okay alien origins aside Alba, Soirée, and Fate give me strong parallels to Terry Andy and Jeff Bogard. Except like a dark counterpart sort of. They even have a Geese in the form of Duke too. Otherwise it quickly becomes its own thing.
Falcoon’s take in the mythos was alright. I’m actually shocked none of the Bros., Lien or Butterfly Waifu made into the mainstream KOF yet. Maybe Falcoon owns the designs?

Man. I really miss this series its good to see you love the Maximum Impact series so much. I respect those who hate it. But I really do like this era. Plus its in the same timeline as Rock Howard. Thats why Geese is Nightmare Geese because he is dead. I remember reading Rock's story in these maximum impact games are canon and based before his events from Garou Mark of the wolves. Its awesome. Rock was STRONG in KOF2006. I understand why he got nerfed in regulation A. Because he had alot of cancelation juggles. That was the best Rock Howard I ever played. Really loved his kof2006 move set. But I also like Ninion and Hyena and also Duke and Lien. Hope to see at least one of them back one day.

Maximum Impact 1 is the first fighting game I've played and the only one I like. Even though playing it hurts my thumb because I try to rub it all over the arrow buttons, trying to activate the supers.
damn, i remember playing Maximum Impact 2 on the PS2 back in the 2000's. I'm still hoping that one day SNK will bring back Alba, Luise, and Soiree as Team Maximum Impact and also Duke, Nagase, and Lien too.
This was one of my favorite KOF games. Me and my friends waited years before giving up hope we would get the third game. We always thought Soriée got taken by the evil group, would have gotten the memories back and would have been the sub-boss of the game. Would have been epic to see!
I'm sure that something similar was planned for MI 3's story.
Awesome video like always I had a lot of fun with Maximum Impact 2, I was a huge fan of Street Fighter during the time this game came out’ Maximum Impact was my first KOF game I discovered SNK Series at a camp ground that had World Heroes and Art of Fighting, I remember I wanted to play the KOF series I am a huge fan of fighting games.
Again with the the Cool Stuff Shoryu! I only played Maximum impact 2 and I remember it being Great in terms of content, it was a good one for me.

Your right. It is a fun game. This spin off shouldn’t take it self to seriously. It should establish fun and joking stuff for SNK in general. It needs a fun colorful, graphical eye catching spot for SNK that rivals Tekken. Seriously!

I dont mean to sound mean but I kinda dont like all that stuff to be honest. I with characters had more fashionable stylish costumes instead of sexy ones since I love fashion. I wish KOF would get a customization mode like how SNK heroines had but make it better because SNK heroines did not have a very good selection of costumes. I think if they added that feature to KOF 15 they could make the customization better. I mean Tekken has some good customization back in Tekken 6. Not Tekken 7 they dont have a good selection in that. But I think KOF can do well with a customization feature if they put more heart in it.

I don't like how society thinks female characters showing skin (cleavages, butt, legs) is bad.
I am not trying to say all female characters should wear skimpy costumes, that's why I love about KOF XV it has a good balance of female characters being modest or wearing sexy outfits.
Let's be real, KOF XV is one of the last fighting games where you can see female characters showing skin and I like that.
I hate how all the woman in MK11 look while the male characters can show skin.
Even modern fighting games, like DNF, there isn't any single one showing a lot of skin :(
Dead or Alive 6 is an exampke of how bad censorship can be.
Just to appeal to the western audience and public events, they killed the series and their long time fans.
In other words, fanservice shouldn't been seen as bad or forbiden.
Maybe the society should be more tolerance.
Edit: And yes, I enjoyed SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy.
I don't mind the fanservice, I have played Arcana Heart series and Rumble Roses plus watch Kill la Kill (underrated anime) in fact I like fanservice and I am not ashamed to admit that.

Snk just announced team 4 samurai and new dlc for season 2 Shingo and Kim for KOF XV. We want Diamon and Takuma , gonitz, vice, mature, Orochi, zero, Kensou, chin, Choi, Chang, Orochi Iroi, Orochi Leona, zero, Team USA, Saisu , Mr karate, Kyo Kusanagi 95, Krizalid, Billy, Ignitz, Shin, Luise, Alba and Jeevatma from kof mi 2, whip, both chracters from kof 95 Iroi team, magaki, rose and all other remaning chracters. This could surpass kof 98 UMFE and kof 2002 UM. Kof XV could be one of the best kof ever.
I think the protag designs doest make a lot of justice to this game IMO

I have to say this. I may get hate but I dont care. But 3D is way better than 2D. :( I miss the times games were 3D. Mk11 is clunky and slow and BORING!!! Kof 15 is really good and did steep up their gameplay with their max mode system. But I think all of that would be better in 3D. I am sorry if this is offensive but I honestly dont see whats so great about 2D games. I just feel like I have more mobility in a 3D fighting game. I loved Mortal Kombat Deception and Deadly Alliance and Armageddon. And kof maximum impact and kof2006. And so many others. The ps2 era is the best era of fighting games. Now we went back to 2D. I really wish we would get another 3D kof game. It does not have to be like this game. I mean its outdated now. But KOF can do so much better in 3D. They can still have the same combo styles we have in kof 14 and 15. But just in a 3D environment would be so much fun and better. Tekken 7 really showed how cool max mode would be in 3D. I really really miss 3D fighting games. :( Its really sad for me because I am better in 3D because I can move and have more mobility. When you have projectiles its awesome in 3D because you can use them for strategy purposes. I really do enjoy the 2D new kof games. I moved to KOF because Mortal Kombat is crap now. But really I think 3D is just so much fun and I hope we see it again one day. Alot of hard core 2D fans say that 3D was never popular but its actually not true. Mortal Kombat Deception was very successful and KOF2006 was successful too. Even to this day alot of KOF fans and I am not talking about 2 or 3 people but a vast majority of the fanbase are still requesting Maximum impact characters to be in the 2D KOF and alot of fans are still wanting another Maximum Impact game or another 3D kof game in general. I always see fans requesting characters from these games. So that says alot that it had to have done well. But I just hope one day we see another 3D KOF game. 2D is stale and boring and I really miss 3D. :( Thats why I love Geese in Tekken 7. It gave me my favorite character back in 3D and WITH MAX MODE! SO AWESOME!!! :D Honestly I love everything about the new KOF games but the only thing that holds it back for me is its 2D. I really want 3D fighting games again. I miss them so much. :( Sorry if this is long I just had to say this because I hate keeping it too myself in fear of getting hate but I will just ignore the hate from 2D fans if I get any. If I keep this stuff too myself its always hard to sleep at night I am not kidding so I had to say how I felt about KOF being 2D again.
