My first impression of crossbeats was "wow, the amount of unnecessary visual noise makes things confusing compared to other touch screen games" I'm sure it's not that hard to get used to, and the lines are what gives it its interesting aesthetic, but I'd say it's also poorly designed for visibility.
Ive seen beatstream 2 cabinets at conventions that do work. Im not sure what you mean by thr offline-online thing. Unless these cabinets have been cracked or modded. Obviously the song selection is severely limited.

Surprised this doesn't have many views. This was a pretty good video essay on this topic.
If they ever decide to bring back Beatstream, they should make the hexagon bigger to fix the problems :)
Or who knows? Maybe other note skins that people can buy in the game too! Like square notes, octagon notes or even reskins for example.
