Seeing this video in 2023 I'm happy to say that I've been able to find plenty more Japanese rhythm games connected to the servers in the US. I hope they keep catching on here but I think they will remain very niche.
The amusement IC system is a real boon for folks like me, who had to jump through some hoops to even get a Bamco card, entirely unaware of how few rhythm games it works with normally, only to find it worked with the aime scanner for Wacca! Getting to finally get a profile together for a game I'd beeb interested in had me majorly hyped! Really appreciate the detailed look at all these different cards, I didn't even know there were designs beyond the basics.
Hi, I think you forgot mentioning something, before amusement IC, Bandai's banapassport can be used as Aime card on Sega machines, vice versa. Also, GC machines still haven't support amusement IC cards. Other than that, the video is great and clear enough for arcade newbies :D
6:18 I mentioned that they are cross compatible with each other. I probably could have been clearer but I did mention that functionality. As for GC machines I ultimately left that part out in order to avoid making the video dated in the event that GC does get Amusement IC support.

small note for andamiro shit : AMpasses are relatively new, but usb and online features have been in the game for far longer than that, And when you buy a copy of the official arcade game they give you a bunch of cards with your upgrade kit. Depending on the region and game I have heard of buyers getting anywhere from 5 to 50 am.passes
I still have all my magnetic e-amuse cards, like 50-ish of them I think since I was totally obsessed with Bemani back in the day and played literally every game actively lol. Also still have so many red and silver IC cards, useless because I kept forgetting the pin or enter the wrong pin 3 times by accident (that was before you could register your card and reset your pin). Currently I still have and use my Jubeat Prop-design e-amusement card, which is the longest I ever had the same one 😅
I'd like to add that the special-looking e-amuse cards were also available in Asian countries. My current e-amuse card has a Tsum-Tsum design (exactly the blue one in 4:04) and I've seen other SDVX/IIDX players with cards that dont look like the standard one.
I have all the cards that you explained, but I just only played 3 games : SDVX, Wangan Midnight 6RR, also PIU (which that I rarely played because my stamina is depleted fast). In my country Indonesia, there are less (or almost gone) arcade games that are not rhythm games have online services. Also, extra cost to fly to other island that have more arcade games (the core game center in my country is on Jakarta, Java Island) Also, cards that support Amusement IC makes me easier to connected game data with different companies, yay (my AIME card is Amusement IC support)
no wonder when i searched online store for cards they are mostly from Jakarta haha (the arcades here dont sell these cards and i had to resort, it was around 100k IDR or $8 USD for any card so i just picked amusement IC). i knew some booth on Surabaya and tried my luck on the card, mine worked on the konami games. though sadly the Groove Coaster booth i was hoping on playing got removed and cant test that out x(. so yeah you're right, arcade is dying here and im kinda sad about it. it's already a very expensive thing too, i dont know how will that ever be fixed
my arcade sells amusement ic’s and pump passes for $25 :”) it’s pretty worth it for someone like me, but i’ve talked to newcomers who refuse to spend that money because they aren’t able to go more often. that being said, love this video! really informative!
this video is what made me get an e-amuse card sometime last year (it's an amusement ic one btw) so i can save my data on bemani games but unfortunately the only bemani game near me is ddr which there is 1 cab closest to me which is in st louis which is where i live. but i did get a chance to go to r1 but now i only get to go to my dnb to use my card on. thanks!
Totally agreed if you wanna progress and even track your progress get a card as I’ve just recently started a ddr account with my nimo card, finally got a bananapassport for wangan and a free car with my membership for initial D all this week which I’ll always regret when I stayed in the Philippines
Finding an e-amusement card out here in the west is hard (especially in places without R1) had to get mine from Japan 😩 Edit: I forgot my pin and luckily my local arcade sells them so yay
I’ve done research on the subject and I can say: go after one with the _red and white_ or _black and white_ symbol on either the front or back of the card, the cards with the symbol lets you use the same card on all four services; aime, bandai, emuse and nesica
my least favorite part about the earlier eamusement designs is that they have the rest of the world in the background which is ironic because the rest of the world is the main thing konami seems to ignore when it comes to eamusement
My local arcade has multiple rhythm games but I don't think they sell any of the cards there, unfortunately. Or else I'd get one for machines like MaiMai and save my data. Maybe I can find one purchasable online.
At my local arcade, you can play whatever you want, however much you want. Just pay an entry fee of about $22 (you have to book in advance though), and you're free to enjoy whatever games strike your fancy for three hours. The arcade does also sell NESiCA and e-amusent cards for about $10 as it has some rhythm games that has support for them (Groove Coaster and Sound Voltex). Why they cost that much is presumably because of import costs and profit margins, but honestly it's not bad considering that you can play however much you want at the arcade for the three hours you've booked
@@helper_bot Even better yet, one can buy packs of visits, or entry credit, meaning one can get entries for cheaper. This is only possible by signing up for an account on the booking website, as the credits are personal. 5, 10, 25 and 50 entry credit packs are available, so it's possible to get entries for as low as just shy of $8 per. Super convenient for those that go more frequently, and the entry credits are valid for 1 year from purchase. Oh, and the value really shows when one considers the fact that music games at an arcade usually cost 100 yen per play if not free play like they are at my local arcade. With the 50 entry credit pack, each entry is worth US$7,76, or just shy of 1000 yen (which is what 10 plays would cost at non-free play arcades), and as I mentioned, each entry gives you access to the arcade for 3 hours. One can easily get in more than 10 plays in 3 hours, so it's quite good value
Very good video. I haven’t been to a arcade since 2018 and am going back in a week. I also bought an ltek ddr pad for home and have a rip of exceed gear to I am hyped to play the actual arcade versions!
I love rhythm games and arcades...but in the North East of England...we don't have many left. The ones that are "new" are so expensive to play in. Can't wait to get an L-Tek. Loved this video I had no idea about the cards
wait, i kinda wanna collect all the different cards now that there’s talk of combining the servers… it’s just like you said, they’re all so unique. i would hate to miss my chance to own one of each before they get phased out haha
One thing to note is that banapassport and sega aime cards can both be used on taiko / other sega games! It gives you the option to choose what type of card you want without worrying too much about compatibility.
I have the amusement ic card, which basically works on all of the konami, sega, and namco one. I don't know how they did it but they printed a universal cards! I'd say if someone is able to get that you should since it's such a good all in one card. Only one that wasn't support was groove coaster (cuz that's taito and I didn't have to newer gen card when taito joined them) so I have a nesica separately for that.
I saw "rhythm card games" instead of "rhythm game cards" and thought there were tabletop rhythm games I was unaware of and I was very curious about how that would even work.
i was actually workshopping an idea for a tabletop/board game rhythm game in my game dev class last year lol, we ended up abandoning it for a tower defense board game but my concept was to have a video/audio that plays alongside you and basically guides you through it like the board game nightmare/atmosfear/the gatekeeper, different songs/charts would be different custom video/audios
The only card i have is the AM Pass and all i did with it was register it to my account. Its yet to have seen one play recorded on it but even then i do like the designs of the cards. Definitely wanna get an e-amuse card even if its highly unlikely i'll use it since there's not a ton of arcades in Canada that have access to e-amuse.
It's crazy that they're developing their own digital currency. I was just at the arcade thinking, an arcade cryptocurrency would be OP. Where can I find more information on that?
It's not really an actual cryptocurrency in the sense of Bitcoin but they are finding ways to convert your Yen into their own form of payment system more in line with debit cards. Just look up Paseli and Aime Pay and you can get a general idea of how they function.
At my local aracde, a single "aime card" that is accessible to maimai, chunithm, SDVX, Initial D only cost 9000 MMK ($4 US). Previously it was 6000 MMK ($3 US). The condition of the card is so perfect like it just came outta the factory. Lucky us.
I have a regular Aime w/ Amusement IC to play maimai, but I also use it to play with Wangan Midnight. The long time wmmt players were shocked that I use a different card from theirs whenever I play, one even said that I need to "use a banapass just to be safe", even though they're cross compatible. My Aime is the Japanese version, although idk if there is even an english version for the asian market, because banapass has, and it has a typo. If you have a red banapass, thank me later 😅
Fun fact: for some reason SEGA machines at Round1 USA don't have online... except Hatsune Miku. They don't sell Aime cards, but the machine will treat an e-Amusement Pass as a mobile phone tap-and-pay ID. Discovered this by accident when trying to see if the machine was online or not, since I'd heard Amusement IC was a thing but didn't know how hilariously splintered the support was for it. So now my Hatsune Miku save data is stuck on an e-Amusement pass lol.
I bought an Aime in akihabara back in 2019 and thankfully it's been the only card I've ever needed to use internationally. WMMT, Taiko, GFDM, DRS, DDR and of course the sega games like INIDAC and gekichumai. Would have been a cool flex if the international chunithm cabinets supported, but the chunithm gold cabs got some cool upgrades, those beasts now support paseli
But hey! PIU, like ITG, works with USB too! You need an online account still, but create an ID to use USB, then download a file onto the USB on the top directory. Plug it in the cabinet and you can play without AM Pass too!!!
i find it funny that America and japan gets all this stuff and im sat here and the only sound voltex machine is halfway across the country and the closest ddr machine is 1.5hrs away
Update on my previous comment, I found one that is closer and now have a banapassport for my rythm games, great video and helped with the few questions I had. Over here passes are around £10/€10, so your pretty luck with $6
I have maimai machine in my city, it was online the first week on the grand opening arcade but after that it went offline and I can't use aime to log in. Can I just simply asked the staff to make it online or is that just impossible?
Hey dude btw bana pass is compatible with games that use the aime card :) I used to play wangan and find out the cards are cross compatible. I use the bana pass for maimai and wacca
i am buying an bana passport today, is chunithm, maimai, sound voltex compatible on the card?, since the arcade store that we go with my friend, are out of stock on aime cards.

At my local aracde, a single "aime card" that is accessible to maimai, chunithm, SDVX, Initial D only cost 9000 MMK ($4 US). Previously it was 6000 MMK ($3 US). The condition of the card is so perfect like it just came outta the factory. Lucky us.
An arcade near me had these games and I wanted to see what the cards were
I have a regular Aime w/ Amusement IC to play maimai, but I also use it to play with Wangan Midnight.
Btw, you can use Suica/Pasmo as an eamusement card.
I'm a happy and proud donder in queens NY with a actual taiko drum in my room, literally Aracde experience in my room
Awesome content!!!
thanks for this vid cause ive had and eamuse for a while 😭
I played beatmania and sdvx the problem is that some places doesn't allow you to use paseli which kind of sucks
Great video btw. Can you do a video about mobile rhythm games?
I have the idea written down so maybe
Bro, my country has none of that, I'm so jealous!
That graham credit card one THREW ME
I bought banapass for $10 in my local arcade and knowing later it only cost ¥300 in japan and have special edition 💀
Sadly chrono circle died after a couple of weeks of its release due to many hardware and software problems and the lack of attention from the players
Oof
I heard the FLY AWAY TO THE COSMIC music.
Where is the clip of the guy with the broom from at the end of the video?
We have this Japanese drum in New Zealand it’s so much fun.
que buena revisión de todas las tarjetas :D
Bro what is the song that starts playing when you start talking about the aime card been stuck in me head. Also great video bro
Thanks and the song is "give it up to you" from Ongeki
Hey dude btw bana pass is compatible with games that use the aime card :) I used to play wangan and find out the cards are cross compatible. I use the bana pass for maimai and wacca
Yep mentioned that at 6:21
@@FNWeeabooohhhh ok, btw thx for the reply :)
6:55 this is was an arcade game????? I thought it was just another idol mobile rhythm game
What’s the video link at 1:34?
I played so much DDR that the arcade owner game me an Aime pass for free...I was very grateful of course...!
My local arcade has cards for $10 so I’m happy to have mine (sega compatable)
Regarding the PIU card price, I bought mine for about $6 but I live in SE Asia so not sure why it's double the price in the US
i am buying an bana passport today, is chunithm, maimai, sound voltex compatible on the card?, since the arcade store that we go with my friend, are out of stock on aime cards.
Chunithm and maimai yes not sure about Sound Voltex. If it has an Amusement IC logo then you should be able to use it for Voltex
Watching this is so painful emotionally. I have an Aime card and for i was recently told that there’s a Round1 near my neighborhood and the one time I needed it… I can’t find it. I’m beyond upset. Hopefully it turns up.
Best of luck to you
how can i get those like when i went to their website it is like all japanese idk what to do
and I can do FlipperIC, since flipper zero reads RFID, so I would have less stuff in my pocket.
5:25 you said you wouldn't get an aime card for "reasons you will explain later". Recently I tried to buy an aime card at an arcade and they gave me an eamusement pass. Is this what you meant?
Yep pretty much I discussed this when I went over the Amusement IC system
@@FNWeeaboo OH LMAO I MISSED THAT thank you my bad
Wait so the taito and nesica cant be used in canada?
