  • Photographs can be a great resource for our paintings, but they can have a lot of limitations when it comes to color and values. Let's take a look at how to improve on those things when we're using photos.

    Great info Phil, I use a lot of photos, and I get caught up in the photo values and struggle with color also. Thanks for your help. Really like your videos.

      Hi Mike, glad it was helpful. Photos can be tricky. It helps to do some small quick color studies to think through color choices.

    Concepts would be better explained if you showed split screen of photo and finished painting.
