I was having similar issues. The games weren't loading about 80% of the time after having cleaned them thoroughly. I ended up returning mine and re-ordered one. I'm hoping I happened to have gotten a lemon. But it shouldn't be this hard to get these games working.
It’s barely there. When I say barely you have focus on it to notice it. During game play it doesn’t hinder the experience like it did when it was in 16:9

My grand parents had colleco vision and the Atari 2600. In 1980 they gave us a 2600 for Xmas.

Yeah i was going back and forth until i cleaned them. I haven’t had an issue sense.
So, is the delay completely gone with Kaboom in 4:3, or is it just less of a delay than 16:9, but still not as responsive as the original 2600? Thanks
